    Beautiful Condo… thanks for the tour. It’s funny because our Mexico journey was similar to your until it took an unexpected turn to the pacific coast. In 2018 we looked at many properties in tulum and one condo in Tao Ocean in Akumal however it was very small and the section of beach wasn’t swimmable because of all the sea coral and rocks….and lots of sargassum 😫… that same year we took our first trip to puerto Vallarta… and found a lot of land a 6 minute walk from the pacific 🌊 ocean…even through covid construction was full speed ahead and we moved into our forever home in Nuevo Vallarta in July 2020. I often contemplate our decision… we traded the beautiful turquoise waters of The Yucatán for a beautiful new construction home with a backyard and private pool 5 minutes walking distance from the Pacific Ocean . We will always love the Yucatán side and maybe one day we can purchase a studio and split our time between coast. Sorry for the rant…continue to enjoy your beautiful condo in the best of health - your story and journey inspired us to make the move 🙏🏽

      Brandon, we are going through what you spoke of above right now. We just spent a month in Playa, reconned all the little town around the area from there to Bacalar. Loved Bacalar and Puerto Morelos. We didn't purchase anything there yet. We are now going to PV to look around. I'm open for some advice for when we get there. Thanks brother.

      @@ceaseless.explorer hello 👋🏽 - i will begin by saying no two coast are identical and this is certainly the case in Mexico ! If you’ve been to the pacific - west coast of Mexico you will know that it looks nothing like the Yucatán. I consider the pacific coast to have a natural rugged beauty. The Sierra Madre mountains melt away into the dark blue pacific. Depending on your budget you should definitely take a look at south of PV Conchas Chinas is a nice area in the hillside over looking the southern part of bay of banderas. In the north you can consider Punta Mita, and Chacala. There are several beautiful towns as you travel north into the state of Nayarit…. But the landscape becomes more rugged and secluded. Best of luck on your Mexico adventure brother keep me posted !!

      Thats awesome. We are looking in to Puerto Vallarta now. How are you liking it?

    • @brandonsimmons2414
      @brandonsimmons2414 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@kennai2094 hello. We are in Nuevo Vallarta which is about 20 minutes north of PV. We love what we got within our budget. We wanted a new construction house large enough for our family during the holidays with a yard and private pool in walking distance to the beach for under 400K . We are literally a 5 min walk from the beach. Like I mentioned before we had to give up the turquoise waters of The Yucatán side to get our dream home. Our original plan was to buy a home in Tulum but we couldn’t get such a house in Tulum within our budget…so tough decisions had to be made but we absolutely love it. PV has some of the most spectacular sunsets I’ve ever scene and the cost of living on the west coast is cheaper than the Yucatán side. The Sierra Madre Mountains also make for a beautiful backdrop within the bay of banderas! Let me know your thoughts on PV -best of luck in your Mexico Adventures- be safe.

    I love this. You asked the man to do a job that he had never done before. Apparently, he was only familiar with door and and window screens.
    But he saw an opportunity, a niche, that he could move into with possible success and he expanded his horizons from those small jobs to entire walls.
    And now he's successful at it. The screened-in enclosure king.That is so Mexican. So representative of their hard work and initiative.
    It almost makes me want to cheer.

    Thanks Paul! Great anecdote about the guy doing the screens. That's one of the things that I find fascinating whenever I go to Mexico - that the barrier to entry for business is so low, and that people so entrepreneurial. If you want to go sell something and make money, you just show up and start selling :-) Would love to see more of these videos, but perhaps of different condos and layouts. I know the realtors offer these, but it's tough to really tell what things are like because they are always so staged. The simple virtual walkthrough makes it hard to "hide" things I think, which is helpful for those of us thinking of buying down there.

I have a cousin and her husband who plan on moving to Cancun this month and I was totally against it because of the usual things that I've heard about Mexico. So, I scoured TH-cam for videos that would bolster my prejudice of the country and found your site while doing so. I'm almost convinced that my cousin's move won't be as bad as I thought! I also subscribed to your Spanish course site, by the way. Thanks for your informative sites.

    I wonder why screening in a patio here is so unusual especially with all the bugs! And we're from Florida too, where it's extremely common for probably the same main reason. BUGS! We screened in the patio of our rental in Playa because 1) bugs and 2) so the cats could go outside, but not escape. But when we were trying to find someone to do it, we got a deer in headlights look until we actually found someone. Unfortunately, based on the final product, it might have been his first one. Haha! Anyway, it serves the purpose.

    Thank you for the tour. You do almost everything right, so nice to see such an intelligent and helpful person like YOU at the helm. My only comment is that the Riviera Maya is almost real Mexico, but the real, real Mexico are the historic city centers and more traditional cities with the massive churches and mainstream Mexican culture - places like Guanajuato, Guadalajara, etc. I sort of like where the mountains meet the sea, too. Often, I spend summers in P.V. and travel around Mexico from there.

    • @DrAJ_LatinAmerica
      @DrAJ_LatinAmerica 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How can someone else come up with your budget? I have help like 5 different friends do this but it starts with you. How much do you eat? What types of foods do you eat? How about Alcohol? One of my friends drank very expensive alcohol and that was $200 a month on his budget. How about medications? Special medical issues? Are you planning to buy a car here or rent a car when needed, Uber, bus, walk? How about hobbies? I have lived here over 10 years and can tell you the budget here is exactly the same as in the USA. All the same items. Water bill is cheap, cell phone slightly higher than the USA, cars cost more in Mexico, pay cash because interest in Mexico is super high. US you can get a car loan for 0 to 5 percent interest, here in Mexico closer to 15%. Property taxes here in Mexico are really cheap, almost nothing. Land can be $50 an acre in the hills or desert area up to $15,000,000 prime water front. To create a budget is the same as you do in the US. or any country for that matter. Nothing special. Food at the store costs a little more than the US. Most Mexican people live cheap because they live cheap, junk car, beans and tortillas, many live in a tiny house and a huge number live in homes from their grandparents or parents but that is a long store.

When I decided to leave Acapulco, I gave everything away to my body guard, and many families. The earthquakes were the deal breakers, and I had been visiting and living part time since 1962. Turtles now have a hard time coming to nest trying to get through. The water was murky too. Went to Cozumel after. Since the sargassum doesn’t flow in the direction of the tourist side of the island it was clear there.

    • @dennishassler605

      @@NewLife2028 Dear Pablo: You have to have street smarts wherever you live. I've extensively traveled in Mexico and lived there some summers, but rarely have had problems; however, you have to recognize when something's "not right" and you cannot be afraid. I've seen some gringo cars get pulled over for a regular car (do not be stupid) - some people will scare a gringo to get a free payoff although it's rare - there's a few bad eggs. I feel safer in Mexico, because I've spent a lot of time there. It's my opinion that incidents happening in Mexico get publicity on the news, but the news won't report the incidents up and down the streets at home. With open borders, the US is inviting criminals in from everywhere - it's less safe in the USA today especially in the big cities with so many pretending there's no crime problem. Confident visitors projecting good will - they should all be safe traveling in Mexico!!! I would caution those driving there that roads and highways have more hazards and are less safe than in the USA - so drive with great caution - do not be in a hurry!

You make a nice team together. We've been considering a move to the Lake Chappala area and are now reconsidering the the Yucatan Peninsula area after watching your videos. We had already fallen in love with the area having had a 2BED 2BATH Timeshare at the Westin Regina Cancun that also afforded us the option to stay at their properties in Puerta Vallarta and Los Cabos over the years. Back in the day we were fortunate to have been able to travel there multiple times a year due to low cost airfares, et cetera although weren't able to commit to full time living there. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer before we take a course of action similar to what you did as far as downsizing and making a go of it. Best Wishes!

    Beautiful! I live in PDC & west of the highway. The noise is the biggest thing for me. I love to go out meet up with friends, etc. however I've spent a few nights in Centro & I much prefer leaving it behind to live in a gated, secured neighborhood just a short ride to any number of beaches.

    • @qroo
      @qroo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The noise is a big factor too. I should have mentioned that as a reason why we live where we do. :)

If you don't mind sharing how much rent is a condo like this go for - we are thinking of renting. Very nice place. I just learned you sold it. thnx for sharing.

    Nice video, much appreciated, I just wish we had a habit of stating condo fees when stating price, for example a condo in the US in South Caroline is on 70k however 1400 a month in condo fee.

    Really nice Paul & Linda! Thanks for the tour and an idea of the cost. Is there an HOA fee?

    • @qroo
      @qroo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. It varies bu size of the unit. Ours was around $150 a month but that employed over 30 full time emplyees: gardeners, painters, security guards etc.
