  • Welcome back to another chapter of The Orthodox Squad as we start up Season 3! This season we're venturing further into the labyrinthine corridors of Orthodox spirituality, shining a light on things that are a bit more beneath the surface.
We're joined by Orthodox Shahada as we kickstart the season for an insightful discussion on how to open up religious dialogue with a muslim. Thankfully audio was fine but the connection meant the video was a bit botched at the start; Qai's comes in at around 9:36 and Lewis' at around 22:00. I liked that Qai said "so called Prophet". I've heard other Christians call Muhammad a Prophet, probably not with the meaning of a Prophet like Elijah or Moses. But we need to be careful attaching this title to him. Props to Qai for being clear with definitions.

The more historical name for that is “paraclete” which muslims argued Jesus would promise… Christians say that’s the Holy Spirit.

I wonder what Qai thinks of Dr. Jay Smith and Dr. David Wood's work on Islam?

He don’t like it much. You can ask in his server why tbh.

something i dont understand is how do you respond when they say the trinity is 3 persons so its not monotheism, its 3 gods

3 Persons, 1 Divine Nature so 1 God.

God is one in essence and 3 in persons. The problem is that god they believe in is more like a creation (I am not saying that they believe he is a creation but that their description is more like a creation)
Forexample it includes things like having two right hands, legs, and other parts and he is also not found everywhere (they say that he is found in one place but he knows about everything so he can control everything (but he is bound by space)). So everything they say is reflective of their concept of God.
