Dr. Kim and Paula Santos always felt the worst to me because they were so real. I feel like many of us can relate to having a boss that expected/demanded work outside of our qualifications and or job requirements and faulted us for not being able to read their minds or between the lines of the vague directives they gave (usually to skirt around the fact that we should not be doing those tasks)
Nancy could probably write some very interesting employee reviews on job websites... "Two Stars: My rating would be higher, but the boss tried to electrocute me on my last day. Still better than working retail though."
omg just found your channel and as a life long nancy drew video game fan, i’m so excited to explore the rest of your videos. i really enjoy your analysis in this video!! your thoughts are not only clear, but well supported!!
Nice, thanks for another Nancy work lurk ^_^ Before I get to the list, of the games I've played so far, the person who runs the inn in White Wolf is who I would rank as the worst, simply because I found it so difficult to actually focus on the mystery at hand with all the chores you get assigned. Unfortunately, I was unable to finish the game, since my laptop kind of crashed and died on me before I could finish, and I am NOT eager to restart it 😅 Mine probably doesn't count towards your list, but I was really frustrated by that whole set-up. ETA: I know there are actual way worse bosses out there, but when I can't even play the mystery, practicality has to rank over storytelling for me lol
Dr Boyle should get extra Kudos for saving Nancy's life! Would we not include Deidre as Nancy's boss in MID as she is the one who asks Nancy to come on board and help her cousin? (not that nancy tries to solve that mystery at all!). Also is Prudence Rutherford not the boss in VEN? I can't remember as I don't play that game very much.
I didn't count Deirdre because it was more of a "helping out a friend" situation than an official work capacity, but you make a good point about Prudence, she is actually the one that hired us, though we report to Sophia 🤔 if we went with Prudence, I'd put her in the unreasonable category, lol!
I enjoyed this tiered ranking! It feels good to call out all of Nancy’s horrible bosses 😂 I’m wondering if Mattie Jensen would count as a “boss” since she asked Nancy to come investigate Rick’s death threats. She would also be a good (if a little absent) boss if that were the case!
I don’t think Lori counts as a boss though, we have to report info to her but Nancy was not directly asked to solve the case by Lori. I think the Hardy Boys would fall under the category but not Nancy since she is a guest of the Hardy Boys.
I think you forgot Kristie Lane. I would have put her in the “absent” category, though I suppose Nancy was meant to be on vacation at Wickford Castle so idk!
I agree with all four of the bottom ones. For me, Viktor is definitely the worst being a killer and trying to kill nancy, too... yikes. Then Beech, basically the same as Viktor but he's not too smart so he's slightly less dangerous than Viktor was, imo. Followed by Lori, she's not the smartest, quite ditzy, but because she did leave nancy to die in the tunnel, she gets to be above Minette. And fourth worst is Minette, mood swings galore and fighting nancy... not a good boss. lol. I'm not sure who I'd say is my favorite though. The ones you mentioned in the top are all good ones. I'd probably have to say Sophia as the best, too, if it came down to it.
another good list, dontchaknow. A little surprised to see Marcus this high, but that might just be my personal feelings on the guy. Uff dah! I don't suppose you could give a hint on what your next analysis vid will be?
@@WizardKittenYT OH! I don't know if you were a fan of his, but NancyDrewHQ took down ALL his videos and replaced it with an overly-supportive, seemingly-sarcastic statement of how great Her Interactive is! He hasn't posted in a couple of years, but I'll miss his videos...
I don't know if I would consider Marcus as helpful, he dodges a lot of questions or gives unhelpful vague answers and wasn't very forthcoming about him and Anya's relationship, which ends up being an important part of the ending
I get that! I guess I viewed him as being pretty forthcoming about their relationship. He's the one who shared it first, Nancy didn't have to figure it out later and then probe him for it. Given his leadership role, I thought he was quite fair, but I can see how he could also seem cagey!
@@WizardKittenYT Come to think of it, Krolmeister didn't pay a salary, but he did give her a free trip to Japan. That should put him in the highest category. And Chantal is as bad as you can get without trying to kill Nancy, just for hiring two detectives and only paying one of them. In the early Hardy Boys books, the Hardys sometimes accepted money after a case. I think they stopped doing that when they rewrote the books.

Such a good point!

LMAO 😅
Thank you for appreciating Franklin Rose! He is a really good guy who gets ignored a lot! Great video!
Totally agree, he's definitely underrated!
What a great video idea! I always loved Franklin! He is such a supportive boss and I always really enjoy his phone calls.
Right?! Such a good guy!
Of course, Nancy's absolute worst boss would have to be Penny Milliken
😅

Lol, totally fair!! Chantal does rank pretty low 😁
Great list! I knew Detective Beech would be at the bottom, lol! Didn't expect to see Markus so high, but you make a good case for him.
I was kind of surprised too, but he's honestly really open-minded!
This was such a good idea for a video! Love it ❤❤❤

If push comes to shove, it probably comes down to who has the power to fire Nancy? Sophia did, Prudence didn't.

Ooh, good point!
What a fun topic!! I always look forward to your rankings!!
I'm so glad you liked it!!
Id take any boss in the bottom category over Chantal any day ....
LMAO, then you are braver than me!! 😅

gotta love Franklin Rose!

I think you forgot Kristie Lane. I would have put her in the “absent” category, though I suppose Nancy was meant to be on vacation at Wickford Castle so idk!
Yeah, I ended up not including her because Christi never actually hired Nancy or asked her to solve anything! Nancy just kind of did it 😅
@@WizardKittenYT you’re totally right, for some reason I thought she had asked Nancy to solve it

What about Maddie Jenson from Stay Tuned for Danger?🥺
weird to say but i vibed with dr kim, it was kinda frustrating that nancy didn't seem to understand her as fast as i did
Fair point!
I saw this was posted a year ago and I refuse to believe thats true. I simply refuse.

Melina
My favourite bosses
Savanna Woodham
Ms Petrov

Did any of Nancy's bosses actually pay her for her services? It seems like that's something most good bosses do.
Not that we know of, but it's possible it happened off screen! No confirmation though!

In my opinion, Chantal is the absolute worst boss of all time. Yes, even worse than all the ones who tried to kill Nancy. 😂
Lmao 🤣
Your worst and best boss picks are exactly the same as mine. ^-^ ❤️
Hooray!! Snaps for Sophia Leporace!
