The 2006 one has another test mode. You need to do all three of the test modes in an order then leave it on then press the button two times both of the times you press it the tree lights up on each side.

The order is The first one you have to do the one with just the red light lights up then the one that the tree lights up to the top and everything moves and the last just do the one that sings half of the song after that press the button two times and each of those times the tree will light up.
