    Note: The release of my video shorty following this one was just a coincidence.

    Can we talk about the tubing cutter, and not the illuminati? Just this once? lol.

    Found this while trying to figure out how to cut tubing (and then slit) to cover bobbins so the thread doesn't unwind. I will adapt this idea by customizing the thickness of the wood so the cut is the exact length I need consistently.
    Thanks for the inspiration.

    Smart solution. I think with a little modification you could use this to strip the jacket from solid core electrical wire. Nice build!

    Having used dowels inserted in the tube to aid in the cut, I find your method, Mr Pocket, to be of outmost usefullness. Especially the split jig. Beeing Greek on the other hand, realy did the trick for me today! λωλ... ! Keep it up!

      nexus01gr Sorry for that. Keep in mind that if an English-speaking person says that something _looks like Greek,_ they are using the expression as an idiom, to mean that it looks extremely foreign. In the case of the illuminati conspiracy weirdos on the internet, backwards Greek may as well be hieroglyphs or sand-worn cuneiform, so they will, of course, just assume ill-intent.

I removed grill on my truck which the ballast resides on the metal frame and the cable that goes to the headlamp has a double rubber grommet that connect to the outer side of the plastic headlamp and connects on the inner side of the headlamp also with the double rubber washer like grommet. How do I release the grommet to replace the ballast?? Thank you kindly for your mechanic intelligence help. :-)

      Андрей Баланцев Try it. But it's more stuff to align. It will also require twice the force to press it through. Alternatively, a single straight blade will not cut as efficiently: thus the curved blade of a katana.

    Hey pocket, having watched you use one in a lot of your videos, I bought a stanley quickslide 2 years ago and use it daily. The problem is I only bought one, and I'm afraid I may lose it one day. Being that they're discontinued now, I was wondering if you had found a source to get them online still? I've spent some time searching and haven't had any luck, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask anyways. Thanks!

    • @pocket83squared
      @pocket83squared ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bad news first: you're going to have to fight on eBay in order to get another. The good news is that they last forever! Just keep your precious clean and oiled on the inside to limit wear. As for mine, I have two in service and a few of them still in the wrapper.
      The Quickslide 1 isn't bad either. In fact, that's the one I had originally preferred until the simplicity of the 2 eventually won me over. You might find one of those more easily. What about similarly-designed alternatives? Well, I've bought tons of retractable knives in my search for one, and none of them come close. In fact, I was even planning on doing a video on the subject, but it would only come to the conclusion that there _aren't_ any solid replacements for it yet.
      If you're devoted enough, it might also be possible to have one machined and/or 3-D printed. The design is certainly elegant enough. I'm that sort of crazy; someday I'd like to make one in brass. Perhaps we should just solicit Stanley to bring it back! Or start an angry online campaign. In the meantime, you'll just have to stalk on eBay.

    • @mrowton7
      @mrowton7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pocket83squared
      I had a feeling that was the case, I'll just have to keep my eyes out and hope that I come across one in the future. I love the design, I'm just not sure I am willing to pay over $50 on ebay for another. You were wise to buy as many as you did when you did.
      A brass one would be awesome, I wonder how you would go about attempting it. You'd have to cast it I suppose, using a 3D printer to make the negative. Would make a great video.

    I am looking to cut latex rubber tubing that is very flexible: 1’O.D. With a 1/16’ wall thickness. Any suggestions for a gig that might be able to make numerous cuts around 3/4” long? Thanks.

    • @pocket83squared
      @pocket83squared 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's tough. Something like this might work, if you insert something inside of the latex just to give it a spine. Perhaps PVC pipe that has a 7/8" OD, or wooden dowel. The insert should work nicely once the razor blade has made a sort of track that will allow the razor to pass through. Oh- and lubricate. Seriously. Knife cutting rubber works 50x better with a drop of oil. Mineral oil is perfectly safe to use on latex.

    @4:23 I noticed that the razor blade shifted. Maybe you could cross-pin a nail just behind it in the direction of pull to prevent the blade from shifting out and slitting your palm as you grasp the tubing on exit with your other hand. As we all know, repeated removal of wood screws tend to loosen their thread seats over time. Great video otherwise!! In fact, I would characterize your videos as being an antidote to the rash of videos that tout themselves as being "Amazing" when they are really just vanity solutions.
