I've just got one of these, and 'Tapdra' - whoever - seems to have done a little fettling with the system: My Gameboy/ Gameboy Color/ Gameboy Advance all started with the correct screen resolutions - which was nice! 👍🏻 I'm going to have to work on the 'Glupen64' settings I guess as the controls in 'Goldeneye' are all messed up!! 'Killer Instinct' locks-up after a few minutes of the demo running (which is annoying!), but it runs great on SO many of the other systems... Some of the old home computer systems are going to need some extra work, as the 'select' button' keyboard doesn't always work (no buttons seem to...) - I wonder if a USB keyboard will work? I really want to play Atari 800 'Star Raiders', but it won't start just using the supplied controller... 😔 Nice review anyway, and thanks for the tips on emulators/RetroArch... 😃👍🏻
Cheers mate, yeah it can be a pain to set up sometimes. Try one of the shoulder buttons for the keyboard. I found with Atari 800 and ST that it was mapped to them rather than select.

Thank you! If you are using the supplied controllers... you'll need to put the Bluetooth dongle in the xpro.. put batteries in the controller and it should automatically connect. Generally the button mapping should be fine for most games without any intervention. N64 being the only one I recall being a pain. You can remap buttons in the retroarch back end in games. Just watched the video and thanks for the tips on improving some of the issues you found. I see that you were interested in the Amiga games (like I am) but on Superfrog I see the intro animation but it then goes to a developer/test screen and I cannot get any further. Have you found this? Also on Trolls to remap the buttons (I cannot open doors) do I press L3 R3 together for Retro Arch? Thanks and look forward to your other guides!
Yes I'm definitely an Amiga fan.. correct for Retroarch if I recall.. where you can remap buttons.. so occasionally when games are loading.. the developer test screen may require keyboard input to nudge past it.. sometimes other buttons might help, like pressing one of the shoulder buttons.. to access the onscreen keyboard press select.. them try pressing the space bar. Failing that it could be a bad rom. Or try one of the other Emulator options.
@@dagamer4ever yeah there's definitely better versions now. The super console king or maxi for example. Amazon usually have some listings for all of these somewhere.
I've got this same model but kind of regret it since I've learnt how to make my own from scratch with the later version of the software and it's easier to add your own games. I got it mainly for the arcade games but was curious to see what else it could do. I still have it for the C64 and amiga type systems.
Don't regret it, it was a step that put you on the path to learning how to create your own emuelec android boxes. And overall, it's really not a bad purchase if you just want something premade.
Hello, (in response to Antonio). I'm not sure about the voltage you mentioned since I only use the power supply that came with the box which is quoted 240v which seems more than enough for a tiny machine.
I've acquired the older console x version ( not pro ) and was hoping to use a ps4 controller with it, but it doesn't recognise it when I plug it in. I'm sure I read somewhere that it was compatible? Is that not the case??
Mmm I thought so too but apparently no. Not with the stock emuelec. Though non official wired ps4 controller should work. Wireless but connected with a cable does not.
I find using the non default controller results in some crazy glitches n64 is unplayable with anything other than the one bundled just a heads up best to just plug and play as it was intended to do uf you want the best custom emulation use a pc and your desired settings
Couldn't agree more. I totally screwed up my first super x console by messing around with the options to the point it wouldn't load. Sent it back got a refund, got another one now. And apart from changing emulation For mame I don't touch any options. Plug in and simply play !!!
Some roms you need to choose the correct emulator in the settings. It depends how old the game is. Older arcade games need the mame emulator whereas more modern arcade roms need the fb neo emulator. There's at least 4 or 5 emulators to choose from and every game I've tried uses 1 of them. It's a bit annoying but they definitely do work.
Appreciated! I might have to do another vid just concentrating on arcade and the correct emulator to use. Check out this video at 22.50 for emulator tips.

No but I did get a Retropie p400.. and put some of the games on this. Retropie runs very well but didn't find it user friendly.. I preferred Batocera, though it didn't really play N64 very well. Overall though the Raspberry pi is a very good alternative to this.. if not better.

I did my own machine like that 3 years ago. Raspberry pi 3b+, SuperPi case from retroflag, 256gb memory card and 10k games on it. PSP, N64 and Dreamcast is to much for PI 3b+ but even with new PI4 it is not recommended to emulate those consoles because of glitches and overall stability. Back then i spend for it something about 125$ with far better controlers and casing quality. I bet that probably 1/3 of those game do not work at all or at least properly, because checking such huge list of titles take too much time.
No most of them do work, I've not tried every one. There are a few that don't.. but yeah nobody will test 55k games. I agree though.. the Raspberry pi emulation is better!
@@CrazyBurger Thx for reply. Basically i'm testing my michine for 3 years already from time to time ofc. And i think tested was something between 3~4,5 k games on 31 emulators. 300 or more was deleted because roms was faulty. From my experience each game should be tested for 5 min or at least 1lv. because a lot of roms suffers from in game crashes or glitches that makes them unplayable. So i think this Super console should be bought only by people with some knowledge to operat and edit Emulationstation system, or they can be stuck with unplayable versions of their favorite games. Strict "Plug and play" folks should leave it be.
@@RetroMatter lol strangely though it's probably attracting a lot of plug and play folks.. but ideally you need to know retroarch or how to adjust emulators. I had an older similar version to this with fewer consoles. However some games the only way you could come out of the game was to disconnect the power cable. Is it the same here?
@You Tube1 The super console x pro is probably closer to the pi4 in terms of emulation. PS2 won't run on this. Though you can play the PSP version of Outrun coast 2 coast. It plays fine, may need to tweak the frameskip to 1.

Wow you can actually play the game?! On mine I can only select the game that I want to play and watch it run but can't actually play any games on the Super Console X Pro. It basically just gets to the start menu after the story telling of the game and that is it. I guess I will just copy the SD card and maybe somebody made a system these games work with.
Is it feasible to take out the micro SD card and copy the files to a PC and run everything from a far more powerful desktop PC to improve performance? I know there is a windows version of RetroArch that can be used as a frontend, and almost all emulators have a Windows version, although I guess that would require a lot of manual work to get that working properly.
I found this machine runs things much better than a PC. The games all run faster and smoother despite the much lower specs. You might have more power on a PC but you also have Windows and many other things to get in the way.
Just having a go and seems OK.. I've got the emulator set to auto so not sure which emulator it picks as default. There are 6 to choose from, try picking a different emulator and experiment.

Thanks to you. Great review. Been watching all kinds of reviews. But I landed on the 114 000 games ( not really) X King.
I just wanted the extra power for running N64 and PSP and DC.
I am an idiot though, cause I see myself getting caught up in the SNES, NES and those platforms.
Think the xking is definitely an improvement over this one. Most of the boxes are pretty much similar really.
@@CrazyBurger Aye thanks. Yeah it feels like a good decision. I wanted a plug and play device. Otherwise I would have bought a mini PC or something.
I noticed the earlier boxes have a bit less PlayStation games, etc. So I went for the King. I'm also really curious about the old Amiga 500 and also the odd consoles I never heard of. It's gonna be a blast just testing through some lists and having a laugh at how terrible some games are, and hopefully find some real gems along the way 🙂👍

I'm going to have to work on the 'Glupen64' settings I guess as the controls in 'Goldeneye' are all messed up!!
Nice review anyway, and thanks for the tips on emulators/RetroArch... 😃👍🏻

Just watched the video and thanks for the tips on improving some of the issues you found. I see that you were interested in the Amiga games (like I am) but on Superfrog I see the intro animation but it then goes to a developer/test screen and I cannot get any further. Have you found this? Yes I'm definitely an Amiga fan.. correct for Retroarch if I recall.. where you can remap buttons.. so occasionally when games are loading.. the developer test screen may require keyboard input to nudge past it.. sometimes other buttons might help, like pressing one of the shoulder buttons.. to access the onscreen keyboard press select.. them try pressing the space bar. I've got this same model but kind of regret it since I've learnt how to make my own from scratch with the later version of the software and it's easier to add your own games. I got it mainly for the arcade games but was curious to see what else it could do. I still have it for the C64 and amiga type systems.

Couldn't agree more. I totally screwed up my first super x console by messing around with the options to the point it wouldn't load. Sent it back got a refund, got another one now. And apart from changing emulation For mame I don't touch any options. Plug in and simply play !!!
This little box is pretty awesome, but I'm noticing a lot of Mame roms don't work. That's one of the emulators I bought it for!
Some roms you need to choose the correct emulator in the settings. It depends how old the game is. Older arcade games need the mame emulator whereas more modern arcade roms need the fb neo emulator.
Definitely feasible. All the files you need are on the memory card. Might take a bit of fiddling but if you know what you are doing.. no problem!

Sensible soccer.? Lotus trilogy? Desert strike jungle strike Rick dangerous.? I might grab one lol I shouldn’t…..
Both the controllers aren't working. There are icons on the upper left corner of the screen showing it detects the wireless usb device but the controllers won't work!! Help!!
You put batteries in?
@@CrazyBurger Yes. LEDs on the controllers flash when you press the Home buttons for 10 seconds but won't do anything. Even the TV controller that came with it won't do anything.
@@CrazyBurger I'm sending it back
@@ShinkuGouki Yeah thats probably wise, that seems like an issue with the usb dongle not reacting to the controllers.
Any idea why there’s no Atari Jaguar on here?
Yes, cause this unit is no where near power enough plus Atari Jaguar emulation at the time of this video was poor. Certainly seems to be getting better though.
@@CrazyBurger I though you were going to say it wasn’t included because the console is gash 😅
@@AlphaPapa69 well that's the other term for it yeah. It did have a few games worth playing.. but I'd still love one now as they sell for great amounts!
@@CrazyBurger I bought one out of curiosity a few years ago and had about 10 games. Tempest 2000 is great; AVP hasn’t aged well, Raiden is an excellent port. It’s a shame that Atari didn’t make this thing easier to programme and it was dated before it even hit the market.
How much is the size of the SD card that you used in this video plz?
256gb. It came with the unit.
@@CrazyBurger thanks for the reply
I didn't see coleco vision... Is it on there
Nope it's not there as standard out the box
Can you attach your own keyboard rather than use the on screen one?
Potentially you should be able to using a Bluetooth dongle.
I am trying to get star wars rogue squadron to work on N64, I believe I have tried all different emulators and it still doesn't work. That being said, I tried it when I first got it and it worked fine (by of course messing with the emulator a bit) just unsure what I am doing wrong now that it doesn't work... can you help and let me know if it works for you?
Recommend 55:54 in the video. N64 is very hit and miss on here but seemed to work best on glupen. This games actually plays well on Raspberry pi 400 on the mupen64plus next emulator.
I dont have the configuration file option within retroarch either in the settings or main menu so I cant save my changes. Would anyone know why that would be the case and how to resolve this problem?
Honestly I'm not entirely sure, might be worth digging through reddit.. such as www.reddit.com/r/RetroArch/comments/e6yzvz/help_settings_tab_is_missing/?
I'm mad after an emulator, I had a raspberry pie and gave it away which I regret now... I'd make my own only I haven't a notion how to or where to start
can you plug in an earphone to the AV? I would like to try it in my pc monitor but it doesn’t have a speaker
Mmm not sure.. I have a similar set up but bought a device from amazon that connects to speakers to enable sound. I guess you could use the AV with headphones too.
Nevermind I guess I just went to a non working game with the controller the other games seem to work fine.
I've got one of these on order through ebay (256 gig X Pro) can you plug in a USB keyboard & mouse? Needed for amiga games?
Really good question.. there are 2 usb slots so don't see why not.. not 100 % sure they will work but you could try configuring them through Retroarch
@@CrazyBurger I'm thinking for when playing flight simulations etc.
I've purchased a cheap keyboard & mouse package from ebay, all of £7. Yet that has arrived before the console (typical)
I'm looking forward this little box that can sit behind my TV and let me play so many games from my childhood.
(I've still got a full size amiga & a spectrum, this will stop me from having to set them up)
It seams to be ease of use in a single box.
@@mattsmedley.onehandedgamin9029 it does make things a lot easier and good luck with the keyboard and mouse. Let me know how it goes!

My x console Pro arrived today.
One of the controllers isn't working, yet I'm happy to report that the USB keyboard & mouse are working fine with amiga games 👍
@@mattsmedley.onehandedgamin9029 wow nice keyboard and mouse and decent price. I'm really pleased they work! The supplied controllers are laggy anyway. I always use an 8bitdo controller with the console.
I just got one. For reasons I don't understand it seems stuck on custom aspect. As a result every game I load I have to go in and change the aspect before I can play a game. Does anyone have a better fix for this problem?
Any chance GoldenEye will work if so how?
No, this unit is powerful enough.
I have 2 questions : 1) I it possible (and if yes how?) to remove the right and left borders that show at every game? 2) has anyone managed to have correct Naomi controls?
You can change the bezels or borders definitely. If you want to actually remove the borders you would need to change the ratio of the screen. Both can be done in the options. You might need to also access the Retroarch menus to change ratios to your desires. Here you can also change the default controls per emulator.
I can not seem to get castle of wolfenstein to play on the atari 800 emulator, any help?
Do other roms work or is it just this one?
@@CrazyBurger this one
@@olds461 could be a dodgy rom.. there is a few on this device. I'd try another just incase it's that. Otherwise I'll have a look tomorrow.
@@CrazyBurger I think it would work if you could figure out how to get a keyboard to work , thanks for your help
Usually for the keyboard you press select.. or one of the shoulder buttons.
