- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 6 ก.พ. 2025
- Seventeen-year-old Collin Griffith is accused of killing his mother, Catherine Griffith, after the two allegedly got in a fight in September of 2024. Collin Griffith told investigators his mother came at him with a knife and she fell on it, forcing a fatal stab wound, but detectives say the teen really murdered her. In 2023, Griffith confessed to killing his father in Oklahoma in what he claimed was self-defense. He was originally arrested for his father’s death but those charges got dropped.

Whoever let this punk go free after murdering his Dad is responsible for him murdering his Mom, time the courts were held accountable for letting murderers go free to murder again.
THIS.
And he will kill his grandparents as soon as they let him off of this!
Lack of evidence is lack of evidence
They didn't let him go free hes never been tried so its still an open case and they can still try him. I think they chose not to prosecute yet because they want a stronger case before taking him to court. I don't think they would be able to retry him if a self defense verdict was granted and they think that it's a murder case but need more evidence.
I agree 💯! Just like judges who give custody of children to parents who end up unaliving them, they need to be held accountable.
I think he's set this whole thing up to make her mad, play victim, and say self defense. Just like dad.

No doubt and once again how does this female attorney go home and look at herself in the mirror, finding ways to get this punk free from a brutal murder of his mother… parents.
He did it to his father and got away with it ! Imagine if he gets away with this one too ??!!!
This whole case could be a study in how to create a sociopath. He will definitely kill again if released, the only way he will ever feel any type of remorse, is if he is locked up and forgotten about. When his grandma passes, his aunt loses interest in making her sister look bad, and he is all alone without the only people that did genuinely (stupidly) love him unconditionally
I think he is a born narcissistic sociopath.
@@louisegoode7420 I don’t think him being in prison will have him be remorseful. I don’t think he’s capable of it. I mean, I think he’ll be unhappy because he won’t be able to do what he wants and he’ll be in jail eating crappy food stuck inside.

So if it's not because of his parents, is it just some random brain chemistry that makes him a psychopath? Being a psychopath doesn't mean being a spoiled brat. It means you have brain chemistry problems that you're either born with or develop from trauma or get from a brain injury .. So, was he born that way? Well, that's not his fault. @@jesscoffey6963 Given how violent both the decedents were, it's certainly possible that he was forced to act in self-defense twice in his young life. If I were on the jury, I would be obligated to acquit him, because even without knowing the circumstances of the first homicide, the mother's past actions alone are enough to make me think there was a real possibility of him acting in self-defense in this case.
The fact that cps and the courts made him go back to live with his mother even after everything he said, gives him a case right there.

So many people defending this kid stating mom was controlling.. are probably the ones that have no idea what your kids are up to. And he did not kill her in self defense.. in order for that to happen he would have to prove he was in danger at that very specific moment, and he wasn’t. He was the attacker at that moment. Watch more trials so you learn that very important part especially on a premeditated count.
Totally agree! You have to feel you are in imminent danger and you act in THAT moment. You don’t tell people ahead of time how you will kill someone if you need to
Yes!!! So many people equating Collin being annoyed by his mother to legal self defense. He was never afraid of her...only afraid of what he would do to her. Any kid talking about killing as much as he was is a window into his state of mind. Self-fulfilling prophecy.
Collin does NOT have the burden of proving that he was justified in using deadly force. It is the *State's* burden to prove that he was *not justified.* Listen to the jury instructions during the Ashley Benefield or Sarah Boone trials. Both trials are from Florida, and use the standard jury instructions for self-defense.
@@luckewoman0348 Don’t get me wrong, the mom was quite harsh a bit.. but I’ve heard all her videos before trial and during trial so far… I’ve heard nothing that constitutes what he did. He had the urge to do it again… I also believe he lured his mom to grammas house because no cameras there. He was the attacker her pods even flew out her ears. I just hope the jury makes the right decision and keep this kid off the streets. Gramma might be next. Just my opinion based on what I’ve seen/heard so far. I even felt horrible for Nicholas Cruz (the kid that shot the school in Miami) and even then it didn’t constitute what he did.
@@priontex4439 there hasn't been any evidence that Collin needed to defend himself from severe injury or death....she had no weapon....because Collin claimed she pointed a gun at him in the past is not evidence that he needed to kill her months later? He didn't testify...and he claimed she fell on the knife. The jury has to believe she fell on the knife lol.
The fact that this judge is not allowing crucial evidence into the trial proves how corrupt the justice system is. This monster text his lawyer pretty much confessing to a crime he's about to commit, telling him he's going to stab his mother in the neck, and the judge was trying to find ways to exclude this evidence. Hope this judge gets a taste of karma !
Sometimes judges don’t want there to be a reason for appeal so they make their decisions as such. I think because there was sort of a “grey” area in the case law both sides presented he erred on the side of caution of not having the case reversed on appeal on that ruling. There are lots of other recordings etc that have been admitted where he verbally states his intentions.
It’s so wild how many trials actually seem to put the dead victim on trial. They are not here to defend themselves. Cathy had her struggles. However, imo dealing with a kid whom she was scared of, whom was defiant, who learned how to manipulate, and was smart on top of that drove her insane. Then to top it off her mother was working against her instead of standing behind her daughter when she attempted to gain control of this kid. Cathy knew what he was capable of and made all these threats to try and get the upper hand. There’s no way this kid killed both parents and he is the victim.
No the victim is not here and that’s what the state is for, state needs to do a better job in fighting for the victim. There is no way that both dad and mom was him doing it out of self defence. If he gets out the next person he lives with will be the next victim.
@ imo the state is not aggressive, however, doing the best they can with all the restrictions the judge is putting on them.
Prosecutor may be new or maybe it’s just his nature. He doesn’t object to anything and his arguments against defense’s objections to exclude evidence were pitiful. I don’t want to speculate but maybe this case is so “open and shut” he doesn’t feel the need to fight everything. The defense has zero legitimate evidence that this was self-defense. Proving his mother was annoying, unreliable, made idle threats, and had completely lost control of her son isn’t evidence to self-defense. The defense attorney’s cross is almost comically bad.
How do you think Colin Griffith got the way he was? Just bad luck to Kathy? Just a bad lotto number?
Kathy created the youth who destroyed her. She reaped what she sowed.
And no, I’m not saying she deserved to die or that Colin should be acquitted (unless he acted in self defense.) Merely that Kathy played a significant role in bringing about this tragic outcome.
@ don’t put the blame on only the mother. Clearly the father wasn’t the father of the year either. But let me ask you how many kids or people are raised by not the greatest parents and turn out perfectly.
This is what’s wrong with society, the minute someone does something wrong there are always people like yourself trying to justify their behaviour.
Love how Kathy’s father put Little Ms. Smarty Pants defence lawyer in her place!😂👏

If she turned off services to his phone, he could still call 911 if he felt that he was in danger. He could speak up at school, go to the counselors office and have them call someone for him
2:53:46 Interesting thing is that the defense asked the father of the victim if he had memory problems. Then 2-3 questions later, she asks him to say his phone number, and he’s like this is being broadcast ma’am …he’s cognizant.
The defense tried to minimize this witness in every way. The old grandfather with no memory
She has been allowed too much opportunity to grasp at straws.
Dementia type illnesses typically affect short term memory not long term memory. If he’s had that number for a while that would make sense.
then a few minutes after that the defense attorney takes a long pause and says "now I remember what I wanted to ask you" and she's accusing the dad of having memory problems.
I understand, defending your client and making sure they’re rights aren’t violated, but it makes me cringe when attorneys go so far that it seems to really be unethical and she’s just rude and insinuates things that are improbable and just insulting
Why on earth is this Judge allowing the defense lawyer to pull faces, gesticulate and make comments under her breath when watching video evidence????? She's constantly trying to make eye contact with the jury.
I loved this Medical examiner!
A defense attorneys job is to ensure their clients Rights aren't violated, not try to fool the Jury with a cover-up story!

@@mainecoon6514In a case of self-defense, the victim has the right to use deadly force against their assailant if the victim is in reasonable fear of death or grievous bodily injury. If we consider the decedent's history, we can't rule out the possibility that she attacked Collin again, and that he acted lawfully in self-defense. Collin will probably be acquitted on the main charges, and will probably be acquitted on the lesser included charge of 2nd degree as well (listen to the jury instructions and the closing arguments tomorrow, and you'll see why). I would highly recommend you try watching the trial from the beginning, and also read news reports detailing the time he spent with his father. Collin wasn't evil for what he did, and he wasn't charged because it did appear that he legitimately acted in self-defense. It just so happens that he was unfortunate enough to have been born to not just one, but two (2) cRAzY parents who both physically and psychologically harmed him. The kid is seriously unlucky. Listen to what actually happened to him before you judge him.
Yes, these two just should’ve never been in the same house. The mom has obvious issues. She’s at home fuming so she threatens a killer to expose that he is a killer, but then goes over there to get him. seems completely logical to me. 🤣
And this prosecutor isn’t the brightest or needs more practice. He keeps going on about that. The mom made threats but didn’t follow through on them like canceling his phone so what? To him it seems to be this big important thing that a jury needs to know that she would threaten to take his phone or other things, but didn’t know really doesn’t help. What helps is the fact that he had told people he wanted to kill her at times she would just say that another time he would remember he should put it into a context that oh if she attacked me firston this day, she did not attack him. That’s what is important and that he did it before sorry that’s an important fact.
I think Grama contributed to this, she didn’t let the mom discipline her child and allowed him to,disobey his mother. Yes she may have gone about it the wrong way, military punishment does not work in stubborn teenagers but interference from the grandmother isn’t right either and neither is killing your parents
So, it was okay for Cathy to disobey her mother, but it wasn't okay for Collin to disobey his. 🙄
Collin was legally allowed to be at the house of his legal guardian. And the grandmother explicitly told Cathy not to go to her house, but Cathy disobeyed, and paid the price. She sure won't be disobeying her mother ever again. I guess Cathy had to learn her lesson the hard way. 🤣
@priontex4439 i thought Cathy had custody of her son as she said the probation officer said he had to go home to her. Her mother is an enabler and I think as much to blame. Why does she need to obey her mother she's an adult he was not
@@CarolMak54 The grandmother eventually got joint legal custody of Collin.
Cathy had a history of disobedience, and that's why she got pregnant with Collin's older brother, and married an abusive man who took advantage of an underage student that Cathy brought into their home. Considering the kind of person her husband was, I seriously worry that he may have done something particularly egregious to Collin, above and beyond what we already know about.
And if one adult tells another adult not to go to their house, you don't go to their house -- especially if the adult telling you is your mother, and is trying to protect her legal ward from somebody with a known history of violence.
The "law" is an extremely flawed concept. Laws are made by people who have their own intentions. Basically random. This kid is a psychopath and he may very well get off for killing both his parents. The statute for what is prejudicial needs to be revisited.
??? Bruh what??? move to Saudi Arabia or something.
Being a spoiled, entitled brat does not mean you are a psychopath. Hating your parents does not mean you are a psychpath. Being a psychopath means you have brain chemistry or structural problems that you're either born with, you develop from trauma or get from a brain injury. So the ongoing question is was he born or made or both.
Does anyone know whether the jury were told that he killed his Dad?
They were not. Judge is not allowing it in. Imagine the jury finding him not guilty of killing mom and then finding out about the dad after the fact.
@jillfeatherman5523 I understand. They were told that he killed someone but charges were dropped.I guess since the father will not be in court or called the jury will probably draw conclusion on their own. Nevertheless I am pretty certain that this time he will not get away with it
@@Amontillado72they have also said in front of the jury that the person he killed was in Oklahoma, he lived with his dad in Oklahoma and that he now has a trust fund. I hope the jury is able to connect the dots.
@@Jenford888 hope so too
@@Jenford888”Trusts” are setup prior to one’s death
“You’re not allowed to stay away from me like this”….damn. It’s like she’s addicted to him.
There's a book about BPD called "I Hate You -- Don't Leave Me." She sounds exactly like the title of that book.
She was incredibly abusive to him- and verbally mentally abusive to her own mother. It seemed like a lot of enabling went on in that family to allow her to get her way again and again..
59:06 can someone explain me what’s going on here. What that stipulation means?
You accept it to be true. It’s a fact.
Prosecution and Defense agree.
a stipulation is when the prosecutor and defense attorney both agree that something is a fact so that neither side has to present evidence of it. in this case they both agreed that DNA testing of the victims fingernails showed no DNA except her own.
@@pamelaanne9489 but why in that moment? Levine wanted to reinforce his point? Couldn't he ask the ME?
5:10:00 this ring cam audio reflects a concerned mum. This nana is an enabler for Collin.
Personally, i think he put that in a message KNOWING his mom would see it.
💯🎯🎯
Does anybody wonder how everything was caught on Ring, but not her murder. I'm late coming in. Was she killed in the house?
Yes
It happened at the grandmother's house. The grandmother wasn't an authoritarian dictator, so she didn't have cameras in every room.
Grandmother's home.
Any Mother that points a Gun at her child is Very Unstable. Collin had to work she don't.
Finally someone put this hag of a defense attorney in her place.
I don’t know a lot of the background on this case/family but the system failed this kid. He went from one abusive parent to the next and begged multiple professionals to remove him from his mother’s “care”. The police would just Baker Act him. I did evals in a psychiatric emergency dept for years and they dump these kids off w years of issues and just want to take the responsibility of something happening off of themselves. This was a severely dysfunctional family and he should have been removed.
Speaking from personal experience- Sadly the system fails so many and then people question “where were the parents/families”. People have no idea how hard families fight for their loved ones only being told there aren’t enough resources, etc. unless of course you have thousands of dollars for private assistance
@ it sounds like this kid had some resources though via a juvenile probation officer basically on call. She should have gotten him in front of a judge and removed from mother’s care.
I think that Collins was severely mentally and emotionally abused by his mother. That being said, she did not deserve to die.
Not killed like that...that's for sure
This kid is a arrogant spoiled little brat who killed his own parents at 2 seperate times for not getting his way!! His mother was trying to get her son to go back home as legally under 18 parents are responsible to know where thier kids are. He didn't like rules and wanted to do as he pleases without consequences as deputy explained by his tantrum when mother wanted to take away electronic devices.
That’s tragic. That girl had to deal with the consequences of something they both did. Her life is ruined and he continues on untouched.
The situation could have turned out positive if he had taken responsibility and supported her through the pregnancy instead of acting as though it had nothing to do with him.
Choose the BEAR!
Lol, what?? I have no idea what you're talking about. I think you may've left a comment under the wrong video 😆
It took forever to start I thought my phone was messed up
I believe she was smothering him. And I know where my kids are at ALL times. The Bible says a parent shouldn’t provoke their children. They have emotions too. They get angry too. I disagree with Collin’s actions, but she was way too overbearing. If my mom was that way, I’d want nothing to do with her. That’s provoking a child.
Is he sucking his thumb?
I can see how he snapped! Doesn’t justify what he did!
Absolutely BUT he could of practiced some sort of self control until he turned 18 then he could leave and be on his own like most people do in situations like this.
I don't think he snapped, he had plenty of opportunities to snap at home where the cams are, but waited to do exactly what he said he was going to do at his grandma's
he snapped twice? Killed dad first then mom months later
He didn’t snap. He clearly laid out how he would kill his mother and that’s exactly how he did it
I am afraid of Kathy and I am on my Computer Screen and she is dead ,but I am still scared.😩
I understand that the prosecution had to play the videos of the mom, but he really should not have played him that loud.
She’s immature and does not manage herself well yes she’s upset with him and her child was being rude and disrespectful but the best way to handle it is not to stay at home doing the chores getting yourself in a tizzy and then call people and go on a tirade.
The defense's tactic is to make mom look horrible so the jury will dislike her.
@@Tinks82If that's their strategy, they're doing a fantastic job. I hope he gets found not guilty on all charges. If the jury comes back with a compromised verdict on manslaughter, I'll understand it, but I would prefer that he receive a full acquittal. He's lived under the thumb of tyrannical authority figures for long enough. The kid deserves to be free, and to be allowed to move on with his life.
Mom is kinda annoying… but like a typical mom!
I think you mean, "like a typical mom with BPD".
@ I agree but I don’t think she deserved to be killed. It was a total dysfunctional family but homeboy killed his pops too. His attorney may be next
She was a control maniac, she taunted him, tourchured him, pull gun on him. He lost it and he is free from her. In jail or not he is free.
I think she became that way because he killed his dad. It would make any parent crazy.
@@adelenegovindasamy8031 he was living with his dad because she lost custody due to her behavior.
Who let this jerk out in the first place I was just looking at this other case or I just was looking at this other trial about that little girl that went in his shot her mom in the bedroom. She got life and she's just starting out. she's just a little kid and then she tried to kill her dadunsuccessful. Wow crazies out there I guess.
Guilty by reason of insanity
What a pile for a judge.

How old is this guy a kid but he looks like he's like 18 or whatever
He's 17
@ the little girl that shot her mom in her face and then try to shoot her dad. She set it up. She went in and shot her mom because her mom went into her room and found some vapes and weed and they called or text her dad and said when are you coming home hon pertain like she was the mom dad came home soon as he walked through the door he shot she shot himgot his shoulder, but he's OK. It's crazy the way they let these kids get away with crap like that, but she got life in person and I believe she was only I don't know if she was young when she did it.
I called her girlfriend went to the kitchen, sat on the stove, put the gun behind her back and called her friend and asked her have you ever seen anybody dead come over I wanna show you something now that's Cray Cray

Yeah, I watched that trial. Her name is Carly Gregg ... she was 14 at the time of her crime & 15yrs old when sentenced. It's such a waste of life, 4 carly, colin & their victims. Colin & carly r both very intelligent young individuals & imo they r wired similarly, not 2 mention, they r a danger & threat 2 b walking around in the community. Carly is paying 4 her crime & colin needs 2 as well.
2:12:30 there's autopsy photos accidentally shown by the coroner....can anyone depict what it is?
It looks like Cathy's head tilted back on the autopsy table.
I would not believe nothing Kathy said. She has been caught lying Alot. She is clearly Jealous of Collin and his Grandmother relationship. Kathy should have gotten a Job, Man, a life and Stop stalking her Son making his life Miserable. She was Cruel, abusive, and treated Collin like Shi*.
