    I am soooo doing this!
    Great method! That canned stuff is never the same. Sometimes It's runny, sometimes not. Besides who wants all that BPA, guar gum and preservatives.
    I have been using coconut milk for a while now exclusively in my soups, coffee, tea, desserts, and anything else I would use dairy for.
    Can't wait to try this out. Thanks!

    This video has such great tips: first of all, using a sieve in addition to the nut bag, and also blending the second batch with the first batch of milk. Thank you!

    The boiling water releases the coconut oils. Even desiccated coconut can be used. Use organic with coconut only in the ingredients list. Even a stick blender works and a fine mesh sieve. Keep the pulp for curries and sauces and smoothies etc. be mindful how those cloths are washed and what with. You don’t want toxic laundry powders and liquids to leech into your foods. Almond Cow is a machine that makes this coconut milk and any nut or seed in one minute just like above but in one minute. Almonds do need soaking though.

    I just found out that the cans of coconut milk I've been buying contains a harmful chemical in the cans called BPA. From now on I'll be making my own coconut milk. Thanks so much for demonstrating a much easier way to do this.

    • @AA-yc9dq
      @AA-yc9dq 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mariapagani1214 not all of them. The cans should say “BPA free on them”.
      I buy mine from Trader Joe’s. They don’t have BPA, it’s organic and affordable. Also doesn’t contain guar gum. Just straight coconut and water listed in the ingredients

      Lol omg that was the dumbest comment I’ve seen on TH-cam, did u just say u can’t drink “coconut milk if it isn’t lactose free because I’m lactose intolerant” ... uhhhhh lactose is sugar that comes from milk derived from mammals. This is a plant based beverage it’s not actual “milk”, stay in school

    • @chosen1504

      mercy amah I would think you can freeze it maybe.

    • @The_Food_Police
      @The_Food_Police 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      U can use it fresh for 5-6 days. After that, u can freeze it if u need to extend its life.
      Also, your taste buds are your best tool here. When the milk starts to taste "off", you know it's time to make another batch.
      I store my nut milks in a glass jar with a little sticker on it indicating the day I made it. Usually nut milk last about 5 days in the fridge without issue.

    Hi, I tried making coconut milk but discovered that the cream was separating from the water. What could have gone wrong?

    • @kanikshavenkateswaran2424
      @kanikshavenkateswaran2424 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, that is the nature of coconut milk, you can seperate the cream and use for whipped Cream etc.
      And you can use the milk as usual

    • @chrisnicoleofficial
      @chrisnicoleofficial 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s separating bcuz the cream is fat, and fat and water won’t fully mix unless u emulsify it. The separation is necessary sometimes, depending on what you’re cooking. U might need the coconut water or coconut milk
