What are the passions and how do I fight them?

What are passions:
1- Passions also knows as vices. They are the outcome of a misdirected use of the gifts of God. St Basil explains that passions are the misuse, contrary to the Lord’s commandments, of the faculties that God has given us for good. As a result, the definition of virtue is such that God demands of us the conscientious use of these faculties according to the Lord’s ordinance
2- When we redirect the soul and all its faculties to pleasure and created realities rather than God who is creator, we allow passions to develop in us.
