What an incredible athlete. He didn't even play at his best to win the French Open. He just kept fighting and fighting to the finish line against incredible opponents.
He’s a lot smarter as a player now! I think last year’s French open was a good wake up call for him: he doesn’t need to give his 150% for every point in order to win! It’s gonna be exciting to see how his career plays out
@@SimplyCourtLevel after that cramp Alcaraz changed alot and reached his peak tennis intelligence. He now wins GS just by using 30% of his power and doesn't run alot for points like before that cramp against Djokovic
Beating Alcaraz in a slam final is currently the toughest task in tennis right now. Before it used to be Beating Novak in Wimbledon or AO final but not anymore. Beating Rafa at RG final is impossible but would have liked to see peak Alcaraz vs peak Rafa at RG final.
Peak rafa on clay was something else, we don't know what peak Alcaraz on clay will be like yet but one fact is certain. peak Alcaraz on hard and grass will surpass peak rafa on both surfaces. at this point, its a given
@@romainmj7245 There are reasons why he is better on grass and hard over clay with the exception of Madrid (much like federer because of the faster conditions), and it has to do with his racquet swing weight and positioning on court. He is still extremely good on clay, better than most but has to tweak some aspects of his game and equipment to become lethal on it. yes, i say that even though he won the french open this year. in his own words, hard courts are his favorite surface. in fact his coach said clay was his weakest surface (earlier). but i believe he is better on grass than hard
I wanted Alcaraz to win the Australian open but Sinner won and I wanted Zverev to win the French open but Alcaraz won. Great how by Alacaraz and wishing him many more grand slam titles!!
Don't forget that Carlos has an injury in his hand and he was worried that he can't RG few weeks ago. He doesn't even play his best, and he get the RG, what if he plays his best?
despite his success on clay it used to be his weakest surface once according to his coach. but his new maturity was the reason he won the french this year though not at his best. its a process,he should see how nadal became even more lethal on clay from 2017 onwards. and i believe he will improve and continue to amaze us.
In yesterday match-up rackets play an important role. I looked at alexander's 18x20 pattern very often, thinking how much spin can he generate?! His serves down the T, his flat longline backhand - all of those shots rely on clean hitting and are void of spin basically. When you see carlos' slice serves to the forehand on the deuce-side, his kick to the backhand on the ad-side and the angles he plays with the forehand, including the punishing spin, you start to think, there is NO way alexander can pull that off (easily and consistenly) with this racket!
The best part is Carlos can say I won French Open where Nadal also played!! Basically dethroned him and I am sure it is not his last French Open trophy!! Many more to come for sure!! 😅😊 vamosss
clay is his best surface imo. - give him a bit more time to get his big shots in play, reacts well to his big spin on forehand. and he defends very well. People stand deep on clay, making his drop shots even more effective. He is great on every surface, however a slower surface that reacts well to spin is his best surface. (indian wells is known for being a very slow very bouncy hardcourt, so, no surprise he does so well there.)
no, his best surface is grass and hard. yes, he likes spin and a high bounce but he is most effective when he stands in and plays aggressively. there is a difference in his court positioning on indian wells vs clay (except madrid). he stands close to the baseline at indian wells. but on clay he stands further back and that's not ideal with his current racquet/ swing weight. But he will adjust and over time equally good on all surfaces. his baseline position at madrid is somewhere in between hard/ grass and roland Garros because the conditions are faster.
@@toddjohnson271 2nd and 3rd best after Nadal were Kuerten and Borg. Both stopped winning Roland Garros at around 25 years of age. If you think Carlos at only 21 is done yet you're kidding yourself.
