Even though they will all serve Mexican food, you will have different dining experience & favorite dishes in each. There's more but you get the picture.🇲🇽
The best , and only place I ate on my first trip to Chicago was Lukes Pasta Bowl near Willis Tower. This place has it all, Great pizza, Italian beef, hot dogs, you name it ! Its very affordable too.
The best Thai ever is Noodles in the Pot in Lincoln Park! Their spring rolls have avocado and cream cheese and the plum sauce is the best. The pad see ew, medium spicy is one of a kind. SO GOOOOD!
There are other Chicago foods that even Chicagoans don't know about because they are scared of the south and westside parts of town. Things like mild sauce, rib tips, turkey tips and a good steak and lemonade are chicago staples
All are awesome picks! Although for ramen you should really try Kizuki, Strings, or Wasabi. These are head and shoulders above Furious Spoon, which is still a good place! Also, the absolute best is the Japanese import known as Ramen Misoya. They're originally from Japan and in my humble opinion, is the best ramen place, hands down.
When you come to Chicago, try to find a Harold’s Chicken Shack, their chicken is the best! If you aren’t in the area of one, go to any place that you can get mild sauce from
I'm from a city an hour north of Los Angeles. Chicago has my favorite food scene in the country! Though I haven't been to New Orleans. Chicago's food scene is distinctive, with regional food. Something that almost everywhere in America lacks. My favorite is that classic Chicago deep dish pizza. There are so many good places to go for it. While I prefer Loui Malnati's; Giordano's, Pizzeria Uno, Geno's East are so good too. But the truth is, some of the best Chicago style pizzas are found in mom and pops places, that don't get advertised. Also in suburban Chicago, a large chain called Nancy's can compete with any of the most popular chains in Chicago. For roasted beef, Al's has actually been rated better than Portillo's a few times. I prefer Al's. But either way; its great at both places baby! I'm not into the Chicago style hot dog. But Chicago has some of the best Puerto Rican and Cuban restaurants in the country. And very underrated hamburger and barbecue scene. They also have a very diverse and good beer scene, for those interested. Research where to go before arriving, you won't be disappointed. Then the city itself has so much to offer.
We have a very diverse food atmosphere here as well. You do have to go across the city as everything is spread out but it is worth it. Great barbecue and cafeteria style dinners.
That’s crazy you mention Nancy’s. I just got my haircut next door to a Nancy’s and they don’t mess around. I’ve only had it a few times but it’s been great every time
@@eefeeman Yeah they've got great pizza. Many restaurants. They're actually older than the other larger pizza chains. Except for maybe Geno's. But they don't get any attention.
Don't forget the custom mac n' cheese at Kuma's Corner. GOOD mac n" cheese + your pick of a dozen strange and wonderful ingredients makes a comfort food to die for.
Ohhh trust me. #5 on that eat list is most definitely one of the reasons that I would honestly rather enjoy visiting Chicagoland. I would absolutely try to expand the money saved aside for my travel budget just to be able to enjoy some of the more interesting things within reach.
My fav restaurant here in the Windy City is Hugo’s Frog Bar. It’s a seafood/steak restaurant. I recommend the filet mignon sliders. There is about 2 3oz sliders PERFECTLY seasoned and with a side of hot, crispy fries. Sounds generic but AMAZING!
Now that you have explored deep dish you need to try the other Chicago Style Pizza, pub style. Pub style is a thin crust, but not cracker style thin, cut into squares rather than pie slices. great options are Candlite on Western Ave in the Rogers park Neighborhood, Vito and Nick's at 84th and Pulaski, Aurelio's (various locations), Marie's at 4129 Lawrence Ave, Home Run Inn on south Western Ave, Piece on North Ave, and Home Slice. This is the Chicago neighborhood pizza that you got at your local pizzaria or tavern in your neighborhood and is the style that most people who grew up in and around Chicago ate most often.
Great list of some of the good food offerings in Chicago! Next time get the Portillo’s Italian beef/sausage combo and DIPPED. DIPPED, DIPPED! Thanks for a great presentation of our little town!
@@JB-lt7cc Both are crazy good. Gus is a Tennessee import but the best fried chicken out there. The Roost is insane though, you can't go wrong with both.
If you're into fried chicken or fish, try Harold's Chicken Shacks. They have several locations around the city and suburbs, mostly on the south side. They do, however, have locations downtown, by the United Center (my personal favorite), Wicker Park, and Evanston. Harold's specializes in juicy and tender fried chicken (and fish) baskets with fries, two pieces of white bread, and your choice of sauce (optional). Their prices are pretty reasonable and the portions are quite large. But do expect a 15 to 30 minute wait for your order, especially if they're busy, as they cook the chicken to order (so it's fresh)
I think the best place to get pizza in Chicago is the local neighborhood mom and pop spots. Milano’s in Beverly on 109th and Western has got to be the best pizza I’ve ever had
Portillos is unbelievable coming from a Chicagoan. the chocolate cake shakes r one the best things I have ever tasted and not only the dogs but the double bacon cheeseburger and fries🤤🤤🤤
I was in Chicago about 2 months ago....While I'll say I didn't have the best experience there (The fact that it was pouring rain 4 out of the 5 days I was there didn't help) The food was really the highlight......There was a place I went to in the Lincoln Park area where I was staying called The Pasta Bowl. It's kinda Fast Foot Italian....But it was really good....The dozen or so breweries I visited while I was there helped as well lol.........And you CAN'T say you've been to Chicago until you've had a shot of Malort lol......
I respect your opinion, cause Gene and Jude's has some top quality food. I worked a block away from them and they are SUPER good so I'd have them often. That being said, I still prefer a Portillo's dog to G&J's. G&J's has the far superior bun but the thicker dog and the greater quality / quantity of toppings from Portillo's does it for me. Gonna try me some Johnnie's Beef though, everyone says it's better than Portillo's so I guess I gotta hit that up.
Yes I agree Gene and Judes is the best hot dog joint in the city just don't ask for ketchup and also don't forget about Al's Italian Beef or Harold's Chicken
1. Pequod's hands down for best deep dish. 2. For a truly crazy hot dog experience, check out The Weiner's Circle and don't bring your kids. 3. Al's beef is my fave, but Portillo's is still great. Chocolate cake shake FTW! 4. Yass on the Garrett's Mix! 5. Svea's Swedish Viking Breakfast in Andersonville 6. Argus Brewery in Pilsen. The place is so cool, set in an old Budweiser plant with a working horse elevator. EXTRA: Miller's Pub for a "Tom and Jerry", a Chicago tradition. Love your videos dude! They always help me out when I go travelling.
If you happen to be in the SW suburbs, Windy City Grill in Romeoville is the best! Chicago dogs, italian beef, and polish sausage for great price. They also replay retro NFL games on the tv
I'm so glad you mentioned the walnut room! It's such a gorgeous restaurant. Anyone who wants an extremely unique once in a lifetime experience reserve a table at Alinea.
If you want to try Alinea you may have to plan your whole trip around it. I tried to book a table a month before my trip and they were already all booked out. It looks incredible and I’m definitely going to do it one day, but be on the ball if you want a table.

Im a local...very good video & you cannot go wrong with his recommendations. But travel outside the loop and get tavern-style pizza too. NOTHING like deep dish.
The top 3 is no doubt, but you should of mention they Ribs Tips, Fries & Hot Links😩😩
Goose Island shrimp is to die for!🤤🍤 & while you're in Portillo's you need to get the chocolate cake or the chocolate cake milkshake!🤤
As for Mexican food, El Catedral Café & Restaurant, La Quinta de Los Reyes, Mi Tierra, La Casa de Samuel & El Indio Cocina Mexicana are great restaurants. Even though they will all serve Mexican food, you will have different dining experience & favorite dishes in each. There's more but you get the picture.🇲🇽
Go to the Puerto Rican neighborhood and try a “Jibarito”. It’s a sandwich that substitutes the bread with deep fried plantains and is so good.
I'm Mexican and jibaritos are da best!
The best , and only place I ate on my first trip to Chicago was Lukes Pasta Bowl near Willis Tower. This place has it all, Great pizza, Italian beef, hot dogs, you name it ! Its very affordable too.
Big fan of Luke's. It was around the corner from my office and I hit it about once a week.
Don't leave Chicago without having Walker Brothers there is nothing better than their specialty pancakes
The best Thai ever is Noodles in the Pot in Lincoln Park! Their spring rolls have avocado and cream cheese and the plum sauce is the best. The pad see ew, medium spicy is one of a kind. SO GOOOOD!
Uncle remus fried chicken with mild sauce. Awww heaven
Love Uncle Remus and the mild sauce!!
Uncle Remus is beating Harold's now unfortunately
Chicago pizza and oven grinder company. Pizza pot pie, its a must
Ryan Abraham sublime! I still have dreams over the Mediterranean Bread & salads too!
There are other Chicago foods that even Chicagoans don't know about because they are scared of the south and westside parts of town.
Things like mild sauce, rib tips, turkey tips and a good steak and lemonade are chicago staples
You are right. Top Notch in Beverly 95th St, Turkey Tips on 79th St. and plenty more.
I want eating food to kill me, not to get killed trying to eat food.
@@JohnDoe-fo3fn i go to those parts of town all the time and i am still alive. Either way we will all die of something eventually.
The best Italian beefs are deep in the Southside neighborhoods
Molly’s Cupcakes and Del Seoul in Lincoln Park and Furious Spoon, Irazu in Wicker Park are some of my favorites
If you aren’t in the area of one, go to any place that you can get mild sauce from
Novi's beef on Ogden in Berwyn is awesome too!!
Yep, I live right by there👍
This is why I love living in North West Indiana
Kahlil Sykies ever been to Houston?
@@cesarvazquez8504 No. The closest I've been to Houston is McAllen or Brownsville. I've about the barbecue in Houston.
Polish Maxwell st, Gyro Greek town, Chinese,
Tony's on South Pulaski north of 71st for GREAT Italian beef. Nick and Vinces on South Pulaski near 85th for thin crust pizza!
Visitors should go to Ricobene’s and get the world famous Breaded Steak sandwich.
Too many restaurants to name
I grew up in Chicago and I miss Portillo's more than anything.
Buona’s have the best Italian beef sandwich in Chicago hands down💯
Stop you must be slow
Never ate there pass it constantly imma check em out
Ohhh trust me. #5 on that eat list is most definitely one of the reasons that I would honestly rather enjoy visiting Chicagoland. I would absolutely try to expand the money saved aside for my travel budget just to be able to enjoy some of the more interesting things within reach.
Gino's East deep dish is my preferred suggestion
RicoTellEm UNOs is better
Unos & Lou Malnati’s is a tie for 1st to me!
As I'm watching this my mouth is watering
My fav restaurant here in the Windy City is Hugo’s Frog Bar. It’s a seafood/steak restaurant. I recommend the filet mignon sliders. There is about 2 3oz sliders PERFECTLY seasoned and with a side of hot, crispy fries. Sounds generic but AMAZING!
Gibsons 👍👍
Gene and Georgetti's. Also Carmichael's in the West Loop.
Geja’a in the north side. It’s a wine cellar fondue place. Expensive but worth it! Romantic atmosphere and amazing french food and wine.
Buona beef is another ubiquitous place to get itialian beef sandwiches. But I love me some portillos.
Mollys Cupcakes in Lincoln Park is amazing!
Ariel H pizza 🍕 & oven grinder
Try fire cake....Donuts are better than cupcake
Giordano’s stuffed is my fav,
Ricobene’s breaded steak sandwich, awesome!
For a great burrito Raymond’s
For delicious tacos ,El Milagro
El milagro yass
Great list of some of the good food offerings in Chicago! Next time get the Portillo’s Italian beef/sausage combo and DIPPED. DIPPED, DIPPED! Thanks for a great presentation of our little town!
2 spots that I love in the west loop in Chicago are:
1. Kumas corner
2. Au Cheval
Awesome burgers 🍔
Gus'Fried Chicken or Roost? Fantastic fried chicken!!
Have you tried BGR belly on Irving Park road, near Austin Ave?
They have some great burgers, and a little more quiet than Kuma's
Francisco Delgado omg the Small Cheval burger is so good!
@@JB-lt7cc Both are crazy good. Gus is a Tennessee import but the best fried chicken out there. The Roost is insane though, you can't go wrong with both.
My favorite professor at U of I! Keep killing it professor Wolters!
I loved Molly’s cupcakes when I visited Chicago
You forgot Indian food!! I come to Devon st. Off Sheridan Ave, it's the best little India area to get awesome spicy food !! I love it ❤️
I’ve lived in Chicago most of my life and I didn’t realize these foods were just in Chicago. I thought it was a norm across the country 😂😂
Same
No way our food is da best
Italian Fiesta & Harold's Chicken. #NuffSaid
I remember when Italian Fiesta first opened on 47th. It used to be the shit. Now... Italian Fiesta is fucking horrible
@@johnnada5754 shiiiit the one in south holland still slammington
Italian fiesta and beggars pizza 💯💯🔥
Off the beaten path Chicago eats:
-italian Beef, Roma's on Cicero
-Chicago style hot dog, Super Dawg on Milwaukee
Midway Airport has Nuts on Clark which also have amazing popcorn. They are located at the beginning of Terminal B.
GoldenBoy Garrett’s is better
I think the best place to get pizza in Chicago is the local neighborhood mom and pop spots.
Milano’s in Beverly on 109th and Western has got to be the best pizza I’ve ever had
Vito's & Nick's on pulaski & villa rosa on archer!!!👍
What's the pierogi like? As Chicago has the largest Polish population outside of Poland I can imagine there's some great spots for the stuff
Your missing out , dude look up the "Pierogi fest" in Whiting Indiana (litterally 2miles from Chicago) its a must need 👌
I really like SMAK-TAK! In Jefferson Park
Portillos is unbelievable coming from a Chicagoan. the chocolate cake shakes r one the best things I have ever tasted and not only the dogs but the double bacon cheeseburger and fries🤤🤤🤤
Gibson's Steak House; Gene and Georgetti; Greektown
Appreciate you for coming to my beautiful city, much love, hope you liked the food!
The Chicago Dog must have the 'light' green relish.
My family calls it the "neon green" relish! Born and raised in the Chicagoland area
Hot Dog - Gene & Jude’s
Italian Beef - Johnnie’s Beef
Thank me later.
Mr beefs on Harlem is better
Spot on
Also Jim's. And super dog is overrated imo
Frannies is better than gene and judes.
5. Svea's Swedish Viking Breakfast in Andersonville
6. Argus Brewery in Pilsen. The place is so cool, set in an old Budweiser plant with a working horse elevator.
EXTRA: Miller's Pub for a "Tom and Jerry", a Chicago tradition.
Love your videos dude! They always help me out when I go travelling.
All beef on Taylor street
The original!
Peaquods 👎
Have you ever been in "Russian Tea Time" restaurant on 77 E Adams st, Chicago, IL? Highly recommend!
If you happen to be in the SW suburbs, Windy City Grill in Romeoville is the best! Chicago dogs, italian beef, and polish sausage for great price. They also replay retro NFL games on the tv
Pizza Puffs!!!
Underrated
I was looking for someone to say these. They're irreplaceable.
yesssss!!!
That brings back some memories
Berghoff is a great place for beer and German food. If you want to travel out to Lisle Bavarian Lodge is the best place for beer in the Chicago area.
Alinea takes months to get into tho.
