Summery of things I learned from this video: 1. Communication is key. Have open conversations about issues, learn to sit down and negotiate and work stuff out with your partner. 2. Don't try to force your view or lifestyle of Sikhi on your partner. Sometimes it's ok if you are doing your own thing. Forcing things can get your worked up and lead to the opposite. 3. If you see your partner making an innocent mistake during their Paath, don't break their flow trying to nitpick little things. If they are making major errors that is completely distorting the meaning of Gurbani and it's happening consistently, then politely correct them, however do not do so in a way that's demeaning or can lead to arrogance. 4. Set clear expectations about life with your in-laws, but also know when it's time to go "outside the box" and experience new things. Moving out does not mean abandoning your parents, you can still maintain a relationship with them after moving out. 5. Be self aware and realize that you might be projecting your issues onto your partner, both consciously and unconsciously. 6. Sometimes we might even buy materialistic things in order to fill the empty gap inside us. 7. Connect with Sangat and enjoy the simple things in life. Find a greater purpose in your marriage to work towards. 8. There is no "one answer" for every situation, at times different things will help. A lot of issues resolve themselves if we detach ourselves and view life as a "movie" and not take things personally. 9. Oftentimes, other people in our lives that can help us ignite our love that can radiate to everyone and also help us connect with Vaheguru. When are you guys going to do a video on absence of Panj Pyare Leadership/Maryada in Sikh Gurdwaras/Panth? Does talking about it hold any importance or urgency in the mind of BOS team?
The main reason why these videos are done in English are because they are easier to understand by more people especially the younger generation. But, you can still find many videos done in Punjabi or a Punjab English mix.
Being so needy and wanting him to yourself and getting angry because after being forced to leave his parents and choose just because someone’s son is having some me time with parents for a quick cup of tea is no way selfless or compassionate which again goes against Sikhi values and principles I’m afraid
It’s deeply disturbing that despite what Guru’s teach us about respecting and loving your parents who gave you life, that we now think of ourselves and desperate to move away from parents in their old age and sorry to say I really don’t understand what part of Sikhi you both represent and those listening to you here are just as confused ?!?!
It's not bad to live away from parents, it is bad to push away your parents. As long as one serves their parents as the form of Vaheguru til their last breath
