You can go alone..anyhow your husband wouldn’t be allowed inside ..in our case we both were updating our passport hence we were inside the PSK..else one has to go alone

I live outside India since many years, it has been almost 9 years since my fresh or first issue of my passport, but my present and permanent address is changed by now and the old homeowners have sold their home to a builder and have had gone away. most of the old Neighbours also sold their homes to builders and remaining people are lost contacts. You can carry your husbands passport, proof of present address like adhar as supporting document. Check document advisor link of passport seva for more details

Yes, dont worry, they might not even ask for adhar. They asked for one of us, hence we mentioned. You can carry photocopy just in case they ask you, otherwise it is not mentioned on the psk website that you need to have adhar for spouse name addition. Do let us know after your appointment how was it, so that others can also benefit from the same.

Hi simran, picture would be reclicked, process is like a new passport issue, with different passport number.
For spouse name addition would the aadhaar card of the spouse be sufficient or would they also need the marriage certificate? Also if there is no change in your personal details except spouse name addition will police verification still happen?
Yes its sufficient and you don't need marriage certificate. Yes police verification will happen. It may happen at the place of your spouse as well.

Yes definitely, infact we did the same. We got our passports renewed by adding spouse name.

Yes, that is fine. In my case i have changed the address as well, hence needed adhar. On passport website if you check the documents required for passport reissue, they have not mentioned adhar for spouse name addition on passport passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/docAdvisor/selectCaseReissue
Original aadhar card of your spouse was required or copy would work .. please suggest
Yes, in our case they saw original adhar of the spouse, its better to carry hence.

No, pcc k liye spouse name doesn’t matter, only your details should match with passport
So we need to apply 2 times for reissuing passport for both Husband & wife. Husband has to apply for reissue and wife as well. Can you confirm?

Timeline depends on Police verification. How early its done. In some places police is quick and they send the verification report in 2 days. But at some places it may take 2-3 week. Once verification is done, it generally takes a week. So overall It can take a month.
Hello Madam, I saw that Police Verification won't be needed for adding a Spouse's name to the Passport.
Yes, It will be done. Basically a new passport is issued. So it will be done.

There are 2 modes of police verification:
Police Verification is required on a Post-Passport Issuance basis.
Police Verification is required on Pre-Passport Issuance basis.
Depending upon whether an application is for issue of fresh passport or re-issue of passport, Passport Office (PO) shall decide whether Police Verification is required. In most cases, pre-police verification would be required. An exception is made in cases pertaining to Government servants who are required to submit 'Identity Certificate' as per Annexure 'A' or 'No Objection Certificate' as per Annexure 'G' and in processing of Tatkaal application.

Nope.. Marriage certificate is not needed to add your wife name on the passport. Carry her addhar card. No marriage proof is needed

Yes One can remove spouse name and will get new passport. Need supporting documents for divorce.

Since we both were updating the details, we presented the original one..not sure if photocopy or scanned copy will work..it will also depend on the PSK, they might not even see the adhar..for one of us they checked and not for other..so carry everything that you can, you don’t know what they might ask.

I dont know about it…there shouldnt be any problem as they donot take any document for verification.. but you should get details on your passport corrected,, this is too much error

You will still have the old passport, its just they will put a Cancel stamp and punch it to make holes. Existing Visas will be valid.

What are you giving as new address proof? For spouse name addition you dont need marriage certificate, adhar was needed was updated address for me

Hey, not sure of tatkal, we have applied under normal category, but yes heard that they evaluate the need of urgency for tatkal services and application might not be accepted under tatkal category.

Kindly contact your police station, to know the reason of not clearing ..i think they have submitted the report at there end. Check with police station

Yeah, i think it’s correct. But keep checking with police station at home town before marriage…they should clear your report after your verification.

Yes, In case of Sepration as well you can remove spouse name. You have to apply for passport reissue.

Yes, When you go back to India you can apply for passport renew and add your wife's name along.

Validity will be 10 years as they will issue a new passport and put the Cancelled Stamp and a punch hole on the old passport.
Yes There will be Police Verification as well! Which will be done at your address mentioned in passport.
For new passport, It will depend on your appointment date and time taken by police verification. Police verification is most time consuming and will depend on your local police station. How soon they do the verification and send to Passport Office. For us it took a month.
For documents, you will need Identity and address proof. If you address on aadhar is correct that will work. If your address has changed, do carry new address proof. Also you can carry aadhar of your wife.

Your spouse presence is not necessary while you apply passport. Even marriage certificate is also not required. Just carry any id proof of your spouse.

8 Spouse's passport copy (First and last page including family details mentioning applicant's name as spouse of the passport holder), (provided the applicant's present address matches the address mentioned in the spouse's passport)

11 Rent Agreement

I was married and divorced and my first husband’s name was added to my passport. Now i am remarried and wants to change my spouse name. Since i belong to muslim community, i have divorce certificate and nikah nama from masjid. Could you please advice if i make an affidavit in annexure K format, will it be accepted as a valid document for change of spouse name? I have my reissue appointment next week
I have my aadhar updated with this affidavit and my present husband’s name is reflecting in aadhar .
You will need the following Documents:
-- Old Passport in original
-- Self-attested photocopy of its first two and last two pages
-- Self attested copy of Divorce certificate
-- Proof Of Present Address (If you are doing address change)
-- Self attested photocopy of the spouse's Passport (Optional)
You can carry Aadhar card as well
Marriage certificate is not needed.

@Nadeera, Even we don't know on this. Its better you should consult with someone else. On passport seva website also they have not given clear information on such case. It's better to take affidavit and translated copy of divorce certificate.

Ma'am If I Have My Passport Validity of 10years. But after 5 years if i apply for reissue for adding my wife name then will i get my reissued passport with same validity or with new extended validity.
New extended validity, for next 10 years. We also did the same.
