I like how you did the "hunted token" movement. Possibly instead of the single player rules of "once you're KO'd you lose" you could continue with the Sabertooth rule that if the hunted token gets moved a 4th time you lose, which would be the starting hero in a 3 person multiplayer game.
@adan Risenquist, I haven't tried doing that yet, but it looks like something I will have to do. I did a few solo play throughs combining all the hero decks and it was fun, a little difficult, but fun.
I had heard rumors, y’know. Something, something villains worthy of the XMen. Same game as the core and it’s simple, lovely and at times remorseless. Filling either the thug or civilian cards and trying to lift them neatly from the playing area is still a glorious mess. I really like this game. I tried two-hand solo in the past and I liked it a bit better than one deck solo. Managing the hands was a bit more fiddly, of course. I will unpack and sleeve this weekend. You have my word.
@writerguy911 I've only teared up for one movie scene ... and that's the movie where he lost his powers. I was so happy to see them start to re-emerge at the end scene. :)
@@DaletheCasualGamer They should have made Sabretooth a playable hero as well. He and Mystique were members of X-Factor for a little while (under duress but still) and I think he was also part of the Exiles team that went dimension jumping.
In non solo mode, each player starts with 3 cards and Sabertooth does 2 damage on his BAM ability…. Survival sounds tough there. unless heroes have a way to draw cards, losing 2/3 HP is hard to overcome.
@@DaletheCasualGamer @VLAD1616 I've done a few play throughs now and Sabertooth is, in my opinion, the easiest villain to beat. While he targets the hunted hero, in a multi person game, the target token just goes to the next player. They then have to take damage enough to die then the 3rd person and 4th person. Once you play each villain a couple times you understand how to survive longer. I feel like Juggernaught and Magneto are the hardest villains in the core box.
@@jackstrange6360 I'll always be cheering for Magneto, no matter what side of the table I'm sitting on. ;) And I think Sabretooth is a better scenario for non-solo rules. Thanks for watching!
@team 89er I'm gonna have to go with the same game, just different heroes and villains. Each villain will play a bit different, and depending on the expansion set you use, some game mechanics may change ... but basically, they are the same game. With that said, X-Men does provide other ways to play, like playing as the villain, but I haven't received those expansions yet, just the X-Men core box. :)
Hey Guys! I have a question I cannot answer myself at the moment. Maybe I am blind or stupid, or both... On the setup-side of the villain, there are some token for setup. Shouldn't they be handed to the players? Are they divided? does every player get them? sorry if there is an obvious rule I am missing..
What’s the deal with the difficulty setting for Xavier mode that says draw up to 6 cards. Do we draw 6 cards or just 4 (unless of course you have Wolverine which allows for the 5th)?
When playing multiplayer, each player draws 3 cards. For the Xavier solo mode you draw 5 cards. While some cards in play may alter hand size. Hope that helps!
@@DaletheCasualGamer I think Sergio is talking about KO cards drawn. In regular you get 4 but in Xavier Solo mode you should have drawn 6 cards when you got Ko’d.
EXCEPT the rulebook states in Solo mode, when a single Hero is KO'ed, then lay down ALL heroes on their side and resolve a single Villian BAM! Then next turn, upright all the heroes and draw up to 6 cards.

Great stuff. I will say that I prefer to play two or three handed when I play solo as opposed to using the actual solo game rules.

It's been a while since I read the rules, but I don't think you can use the tokens the same turn you get them.
