I think you made a really good job of the garden furniture. It all looked beautiful. Amazing what you can do with a bit of paint and the want to achieve something. And your right about just do what makes you happy. I do exactly that in my garden .
In the USA I'm called a budget shopper. I buy through Market place everytime I find something I can use. I love to go to our Thrift Store or Goodwill. Best prices around. I'm known for buying at Yard Sales, Estate Sales, Garage Sales and pick it up at the curb. You've got a great eye. Love the steamer chairs and the table and chairs. I'd have to have cushions on the lounging chairs. My bum would be numb. 😁
Kate this is my kind of vlog! If you buy a small can of exterior paint the same colour you could give it a top coat and the table and chairs would be protected. You can do the first couple of coats in interior and as long as you finish with one coat of exterior the furniture will be protected xxx
Silent watcher here but I thought I should tell you anything metal you need to paint for the garden buy Poundland car spray paint and primer it’s great and lasts.and old filling cabinets with drawers removed make great large planters for a large garden🍀
Sand paper will help with the bleeding through issues or Zinsser primer, and the interior paint will fade quicker and won't handle weather conditions as well ...otherwise those are real cute table sets..
I understand! My husband is the perfectionist, to the extent that I got 'sacked' from painting the front door and porch the other week because my work apparently did not come up to scratch. 😉 I loved the finished little table and chairs with the jug of tulips - so pretty.

All of your projects here are gorgeous! I especially like the metal table and chairs...they look very French, somehow! Our garden furniture mostly came from the side of the road, or free....spray paint is your friend!
The setting was a real find! When finished it looked great in the corner of your garden. I think you should have used a "Rust kill" Primer as the rust will keep on coming through. I think you also needed to rub the table top with sand paper after brushing it to make sure it was smooth. I would have bought a small/medium roller rather than use a brush for the table top and chair seats as you would not see the brush strokes. Loved the cushions on the timber chairs!

The little nook with the table and chairs looks so lovely, and you did a great job of painting them such a nice soft colour. Your steamer chairs were a great bargain and just needed a coat of wood stain to smarten them up. Roll on summer!
The rust will probably come through again Kate, it may take some time as you put several coats on. You need to use a rust treatment to stop it coming through, something like Hammererite Kurust or Rustins Rust Convertor. You won't need to prime as it acts like a primer as well, when dry you can just paint over it.

Really enjoyed and I'm a bodger too! I've just upcycled my lounge old fashioned pine furniture, converted a horrible old small chest of drawers into an open one with wicker inner baskets and repainted all. It was my first effort and so pleased! I'm going to do more now! Love your stuff and the sage green is gorgeous. I shall enjoy seeing more! 😁
These are awesome finds and such a beautiful color. I would protect it with a sealant...water based is good and do two coats of the seal. This will protect all your hard work. ❤️❤️

You can buy a spray can of a just a clear coating that will westher proof your table and chairs and it will make it shiny too. I use it on all my painted items outdoors.
I’ve been investigating metal paints for my 8 garden chairs and table and have come across Jenolite who are leading manufacturers of coping with rusty paint including a treatment that helps stabilise rust Ive used Hammerite before but this company looks good and is well priced. They have some nice metallic colours, including copper which I might use as an accent , but more importantly they also have 3 spray cans for £23 which will make it easier for painting spindles and also won’t show brush strokes on the table You can get it via Amazon but cheaper from Jenolite’s own website All my chairs have a metal woven back and seat and it took forever last time I brush painted them so will try spray paint this time - certainly worth getting the right paint for the job !

Practice makes perfect Kate, I was a novis when I came to up cycling now I love doing them, maybe a heat gun might of helped to strip the garden table of some nitromorse, but you did a lovely job in the end, and your green house is gorgeous.
I'm a bodger too, i want the end result to be good but i don't have any patience so i rush it. I love the sage green colour,thinking i might paint my kitchen something similar. The chairs look so good with the dark wood stain too.

Love the metal table and chair set. Sorry to say I had steamer chairs and I hated them! Uncomfortable for a long sit, heavy and difficult to move and a finger trap! Hope you enjoy them more than I did.

Hammerite outdoor metal paint is always a winner for gardens and your exterior metalwork on your home. Hammerite also do exterior wood paint too. Also in spray cans. You did a good job.

The chairs in the greenhouse can be saved. You can buy rolls of wicker and repair them quite easily.
