Definitely using this for our coffee page! Actually we always use your vids for educating. They are always super easy to understand for anyone new and "coffee vets" alike.
I think I developed a mild interest in coffee about half a year ago, this mild interest is now more of a daily hobby, but man I should have watched this video much sooner! I had no clue there were still a lot of basic facts I didn't knew. Thanks Chris!
Super vid, as always! Would really love for you to do a video on the different methods of processing and why each one is done. Also on the the different strains of coffee plants. Just love the way you breakdown and describe everything
Dude, just want to thank you for all the time you spend educating! Not to mention your only good vibes approach. Keep them coming, can't wait for more of these!
Thanks for the simple yet clear explanation Chris! Keep feeding our addiction, always happy to see your notifications on my email whenever you post something.
Thanks mate for all your videos! You're an incredible communicator and make learning about coffee very attainable and attractive. I'm creating a training playlist for my cafe crew and heaps of your vids will be on it! With love from Sydney!
I want To Become A Head Barista and every single day I want to spend my time to get knowledge about coffee espresso .. roasting everything about coffee
Hey I recognize some farms from Antigua in Guatemala in your B-roll shots. For instance my avatar photo is from one group of farms you show in your video. BTW good synthesis of the process; some of us have been immerse our whole life in the process and cannot explain it in less than 10 minutes.
Great video Chris. I started my Coffee career 6 months ago and I am learning so much about coffee. I used to be a Latte drinker. Now I can't stand them. I love a good old Batch Bew coffee.
Great Video, you're so clear to explain!! thanks... i can't wait for the other 2 process... can you talk sometime about the other kind of coffee (liberica ), i don't know if there is another. Thanks again!
Thank you. I don't really know much about Liberica but I have had it on two occasions. I'll reach out to my network and see if I have a liberica expert!
Great video! Are more along these lines in the works? It would be great to see more videos that continue the story of what happens to coffee on its journey to consumers. Also, videos about those other processing methods would be great too. Keep it up!
Great question. Yes, two different things. By the time green coffee gets to the roaster the parchment will be gone but the coffee will still give off chaff around that magical first crack.
If any of you guys are interested in this stuff, go check out the “roast and reason” podcast on iTunes or Spotify. That guy goes into amazing detail about this
Unfortunately, if you are buying C market coffee (grocery store, pre-ground, k-cups) this is true as the average cost to produce a pound of coffee is ~$1.25 while the current market value of coffee is fluctuating at and even under $1/lb. 70% of the cost of C market coffee is labor. This is the result of people who are looking at coffee as a simple commodity having decision making power, and why you shouldn't buy C market coffee. Support local roasters, and ultimately support small farmers who put a great deal of effort into their product & truly care about what they are delivering.
Don't ever get rid of these videos! They've become my regular training videos for new staff. They're great.
4 years later and im still watching this. Thanks Chris.

Thanks Stephen! That's so good to hear, I'm always hoping everyone can get at least a little something out of them.

Thanks!😉👍
You are a legend!
Absolutely love it! I like how you handled the robusta vs Arabica. It’s so trendy to just crap on robusta but you did an amazing job.
Thanks Scott. Yeah there's an exception to every rule so I do my best to not use absolutes as they're rarely true.
I want To Become A Head Barista and every single day I want to spend my time to get knowledge about coffee espresso .. roasting everything about coffee

So the parchment is different from the chaff?
Great question. Yes, two different things. By the time green coffee gets to the roaster the parchment will be gone but the coffee will still give off chaff around that magical first crack.
first? (also, i liked the video b4 i actually watched it cuz Chris Baca is awesome)
I appreciate that!
The video is great! I just have one question... what the cherry tastes like? 😅
I was wondering the same thing hahha
Find cascara (dried coffee fruit) and brew a tea. It’s not bad. I find it to be less sweet then I like so I tend to go a little heavy on the honey.
Moreeeeeeeeee
love this video man
Thanks Andy, I'm feelin' the love.

Hey Chris what you think about the blockchain technology in the coffee industry??!!
You should talk to the Menotti's crew about that. They are masters of blockchain and I'm just a newb.
Is there a huge difference between FairTrade and DirectTrade, or are these just buzzwords?
I’ve also had liberica, but uncommon enough that I wouldn’t have wasted time on it in a video either.
Feel free to increase the time of your videos - not every millenial has an attention span of 35 secs. ;)
That's good feedback. I'm always afraid of going too long. Thank you!
Stay dialed TEE in my life?
has anyone ever said you look like jonathan morrison?
No, but I just googled him and he has way nicer hair than me
