- This is a breakdown between high-end binoculars. Swarovski NL Pure 10 x 42 vs Zeiss 10 x 42 vs Canon Image Stabilized 15 x 50
We tested all three sets of high end binoculars and break it all down for you.
How to buy Binoculars Link: • How to Buy Binoculars
0:00 Introduction
1:49 Zeiss Conquest 10x42 ($699)
3:20 Canon 15x50 IS ($1200)
6:58 Swarovski NL Pure 10x42 ($3500)
9:37 Conclusion
Thanks for breaking the sections down!
In the Netherlands you can buy the NL Pure 10 x 42 or 12 x 42 for around 2800 Euro
@@Bikerbeest They just dropped the price of the 10 x 42's in the US as well.
Thank you for your videos on binoculars, was very accessible for people starting up in this field. Also watched and loved your "How to Buy Binoculars" video. Very informative, very accessible. Can't thank you enough.
Glad it was helpful!
Why the Zeiss Conquests, when comparing against the Swarovski NL Pures ? You should be comparing the NL Pures against the Zeiss Victory SFs, which are the direct competitors of the Swarovski NL Pures. The Conquests are the budget line of Zeiss, while the NL Pures are the absolute pinnacle in the Swarovski range.
My thought was to give viewers a choice when it comes to price but still looking at high quality. I thought the Conquest was the least costly for something that delivers high quality. Thanks for watching.
@@tv510i think it was the right choise , för many of us we are not really sure if we want to fork out 3500 for a binacolur so hear the differences btw price points are excellent . Made me want tp go with the Canon
The downside I could see with the Canon is the weight. But the stabilization is fantastic! @@Herkulez1981
Should i be surprised that vortex never gets a mention? How do the vipers compare to the conquest?
@@lilchirp4846 I actually looked at the Vortex. While it's a fine mid-cost option for binoculars, I figured it would be better suited to a review of more budget friendly binoculars. I might add that to the list of videos I need to do. Thanks for the idea.
would you try testing the Swarovski Vs Leica Noctivid? I wanna know which one to buy, they both great.!
If I can get my hands on a Leica Noctivid, I will.
I have several binoculars from manufactures like Zeiss, Swarovski, Meopta and Kite. I have Kite stabilised 16x42. I am well impressed with all the binoculars but carrying the Kite stabilised 16x42 is a game changer for bringing that bird into close view. I now don't carry a scope on short local bird watching trips.
Great way to go! Thanks for watching.
Love your videos, Terry! It's obvious that you talked with hunters (I am a birdwather/photographer) they usually go with the 10x binos. "Most" birdwatchers (no one obsesses over glass like a birdwatcher) like the 8 or 8.5x The 8x would give you 477' field of view vs, the 399' at 1000 yds. Also, the higher the magnification, the harder it is to hold steady. But that is just a birdwatchers "view" of things ; ) I am still enjoying my 8x50 Swarovskis that I bought 24 years ago- Also a 24-60x80mm HD spotting scope. Go Terry! And Swarovski!
Hi Elmer, that always was the standard, but with the NL pure's you do get more field of view, but the coolest thing is that new add on feature of the forehead stabilizer. It really works. That really is a good add on, but I doubt they would attach to a 24 year old pair (great testament to how long a good pair can last) and I doubt I would pay for a new pair, just for that feature. However, a new buyer might be able to get a bit more magnification AND keep them steady. Thanks for watching!
The 399’ at 1000yds of the NL10 x42s, is greater than that of the EL 8.5x42s
great job on the review, commentary on the Swarovski 10x32 AX Visio Binoculars coming up?
Thanks Brent. I might be doing some more on these, love the Swarovski brand so we will see.
Been looking for IS vs IS. I’ve had canon 15x50 for 15 years and it works great. Have high end compact zeiss but more zoomed in binos benefit from IS so I’ll keep looking.
Let us know what you find. I use the head rest that you can buy for the Swarovski NL pure line and I think it works great for added stability. Good Luck!
Can your eyeglasses scratch the glass on the binoculars or vice versa?
The only part that actually touches the glasses are rubber rings. It's pretty soft and doesn't leave marks. Thanks for watching!
Hi Terry hope you are having a little break over the holiday season. I have my fathers Binocular rest his soul, he was known as London Bill. My bins are the old style you might know them a brown/tan leather hard case red velvet insert. I put a modern twist to them neoprene soft case and OP//TECH Pro Loop Camera Strap to help with the heavier load. Have looked at the type you have discussed but chose the new RF 200 - 800mm for my R3 maybe next year 😄
Indeed! I do remember those binos, and they will last a very long time - which is great! I totally understand the lens purchase, have a great time getting out there and shooting!
@@tv510 Cheers Terry 🍻
I’m confused why did you compare to roofs in 10x42 and then use the Canon 15x50? Why didn’t you use the Canon 10x42 IS L? The Canon 10x42 optically would’ve been more in line with the Conquest and they all would’ve been 10x42’s.
Yes, that does make sense. However, I was testing a range of binos for my own use and thought the stabilized ones were an interesting take.
I am in doubt.
I want to buy the Zeis Victory SF 8x42 or Swarovski NL pure 8x42.
I like the ergonomics and focussing on Zeiss more and the price.
Swarovski was more vibrant colors.more Wow effect
(I heard about rubber armor problems?)
What do you think?
My favorite for image quality was the Swarovski. No question. The NL Pure brand has the wider field of view. (you should check it against the Victory) but generally, the Swarovski 10 x 42 will have the same field of view as the Zeiss 8 x 42 - thereby giving you more magnification without sacrificing FOV. I know Swarovski stands behind their gear quite well so I wouldn't worry about rubber armor problems. The biggie is the price WOW! If you can rationalize the price (i.e. the amount of years you use them) then you can't go wrong. If you would rather spend your money on something else, and still have a very good pair - then you can't go wrong with the Zeiss. Let us know what you end up with and why.
@@tv510
But do you think its a big difference?
Here in the Netherlands Swaro costs 600 euro's more than Zeiss.
I will test them both again soon.
I can affort 600 euro extra for Swarovski. But i am not sure yet if its worth that amount of extra money.
Honestly, I think it is worth it. But that is just my take.@@s.d.r1062
@@tv510 thank you very much!
@@s.d.r1062 You'll have to decide on your own. It's your money and your eyes. If you think the Zeiss is better go with the Zeiss. Otherwise go with those NL Pures. I'd also take a look at the Leica Noctivid 8 x 42 - probably those would be my choice (but I happen to have a Leica store in my town)!
Out of breath?! :) Thanks for the great video!
Ha! I should have cut to a full length shot of me right then. :)
Why are you not comparing high end with high end leica, zeiss, and savorski top binoculars. And compare the best stabilized binoculars. And then compare the best rangefinder binoculars and go to thermal binoculars. Comparasomes like that give me a realistic and usable comparison on what i would buy based on your experience
Noted. The short answer is that I pay for all my equipment with my own money, since I think that gives the most neutral review. If I can borrow a Leica, I will do a comparison. Thanks!
Have owned, NL's, Zeiss Victory, Kite's and Vortex. The NL's and the Kite's were noticeably better than anything else I had viewed up to my latest Vortex UHD's, which are at least as good, and seem to resolve better in many low-medium contrast situations (although VERY close). Given the unconditional warrantee of the Vortex, I wind up using them the most-- especially in ELRI and hunting environs where they could likely be in potentially damage-prone situations. I had to use the Vortex warrantee on a Razor HD scope that got damaged when it fell off the rack, which I told Vortex. No problem at all-- full replacement, along with a new box, cleaning accessories, and the lot. That's very, very hard to discount or beat.
I damaged some Zeiss gear and it cost me about $1K to get it fixed "under warrantee".
Same issue with Swarowski's warrantee that does NOT insulate you from the most likely cause of damage-- human error.
That is some great info, thanks for sharing.
Vortex has amazing no questions asked warranty. A friend who is a professional nature/birding writer uses only Vortex binoculars and spotting scopes. The optics and durability are amazing. He left a pair on the car roof only to see them tumbling down the highway behind him. He explained his mistake to Vortex, they sent him new binoculars. The coatings in another set were damaged during a camping/hiking trip, Vortex repaired them with no questions and for free. Great service!
@@3frogltd987 That is pretty amazing coverage. Thanks for sharing the info!
How can you miss out Leica Optics ??
I didn’t have access to everything. I barrow or buy everything with my own money. That is why Leica got skipped, along with others.
@@tv510 along with others ? What others ?
Only 3 top companies
In no order Leica Zeiss & Swarovski
Everything else is next best

Great Video. Zeiss Conquest HD is also water resistant up to 13 feet, according to their website.
Hi Gabriel, that is good info, that I must have missed. Thanks for the update.
Even Zeiss Conquest HD are not Zeiss' highest end binoculars! There are even those hunting binoculars Victory HT 8x54 or 10x54! I'd like to test those.
All image stabilisation viewing is preferable due to perceiving more detail and comfortable viewing
Viewing comfort is a big deal, I agree.
It seems that the old brands with high added value are becoming a thing of the past)
Try the top of their line Shuntu and you will be extremely surprised by the high quality for a modest price.
However, you can buy them more expensive under well-known world names...)
Thanks I'll take a look. Thanks for watching.
Superb video, but i have something to say that may open a can of worms, here in UK I am a keen bird watcher, and all round Photographer i use entirely Fuji cameras. BUT , I have owned and used my Swarovski 12 X 50 EL optical artillery for like past 6 years, however a rear end collision idiot crash into me, gave me a neck injury, backlash, this was genuine, my doctor ordered me to haul less weight for a couple of years. To finalise , I bought a Vanguard 10x 42 EDII binocular as a fix whilst my trapezium was treated like lots of physio, but it soon became apparent that this model of bino, is astounding!! it offers a superb metal rubber armored body , HOYA no less ! optical glass , I am not joking ( given the difference in magnification , genuinely regard this £400 bino , as good as my £1995 Swaro. no i aint hit the crack pipe. if you have access to test then maybe do ?
Thanks for the info! Myself and others can check out the Vanguard 10 x 42 EDII
Where is the Leica Noctivid ?
Ha! There are so many high end binoculars, this could be a series on to itself. I just picked three for this review. Do you use the Noctivid?
@@tv510 good job..I use the Leica Trinovid..great glass..heavy..the models that you reviewed are great.
you cant compare zeiss conquest at 800 vs 3500 for nl wheres the zeiss sf
I thought I would offer a good range, so people don't feel like they need to spend top dollar. Thanks for watching.
@@tv510 your reasoning possibly a title change then. "are high end binocs all that compared to low or mid range?"
@@jrnumex9286 Thanks for the suggestion.
FRP is not 'integrated' as you said, Terry !! It is to be purchased separately, and rather too expensive despite its certain effectiveness.
It is pretty expensive but if you are spending that much, might be worth it. Thanks for watching!
In fact there are not giroscopic but use accelerometer chips.
Good to know. Thanks.
Try OPTICRON Aurora's 8x42. They obliterate Zeiss Conquest
Good to know Steve, thanks for the input.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
High end...? Then where is Leica's?
I didn’t get access to Leica. I know that they make fine optics.
@@tv510
I own a Leica Ultravid 10×32 HD and they are wonderful!
Zeiss conquest is not a high end bino...you should be looking at Victory SF.
Thanks, I have heard that more than once since the review. It looks like I'll need to put another one together.
4;50 PC alert age dis. "as we get older it' gets harder to hold steady" all ages apply, young out of shape, uncoordinated and so on. i believe your sum up at end said if trouble holding steady had no age tag. buying z-warski you don't have to wonder when getting the other brans if they are as good as z-warski. hard to find sporting goods stores with a big selection of binocs all lined up at counter to see like electronic stores high end tv's $4-5 k+ you can judge for yourself.
That would be nice to try them side-by-side. I have found that Bass Pro shops has a decent selection, but you are right, that kind of service is hard to find.
These three binoculars are so different that comparing them doesn’t work for me.
No problem, thanks for watching though.
А как мусор кенона затесался сюда?
M-am gândit că, din moment ce avea stabilizatorul încorporat, ar putea fi interesant de testat. Sticla este bună, dar nu la fel de bună ca celelalte două.
When it comes to High-End Binoculars one brand cannot be missed: Leica!
Some might even prefer the Leica Noctivid 8x42 over the Swarovski NL Pure! 🤔
Yeah, I have heard that. I couldn't get my hands on the Leica model in time for this review.
Y do people have so much trouble pronouncing swarovski!,???
Ha! Dave, I can't tell you how many times I re-recoreded those segments to get it better. Thanks for watching.
Nowadays, anyone can make a review even if they only know a little about the subject
Yes, TH-cam is a beautiful thing. Thanks for watching.
