Say what you will about Mzee Kenyatta, but he and his cohorts went up against the British, which essentially meant a rope around your neck 10 feet above the ground.. He wasn't a saint, but he helped Kenya escape the clutches of wazungus. Ask South Africans what they would have done to have a man like him back in the day.....

🤣🤣😂😂 As a total foreigner (not even Africand unless you consider Spain tve northermore part of Africa😁) I find your quote very funny and surely truthful (piensa mal y acertarás) But even so he was not a complete madman like Macias the leader of Equatorial Guinei the only Spanish colony in Subsaharan Africa wich gained independence exactly the day 12/October/1968. Most pot-cilonial African leaders have been worse than Kennyata i would say (and yes i have seen some documentaries about them) Search Macias and you will see another perspective with someone really insane. Kenyatta could be greedy but at least was not a crazy madman. Kenya seems a sound country in comparation with most of the continent. I think Kenniata have his part in that achievment (even if a cleptocrapt)

There is footage of him campaigning in Speaker's corner, Hyde Park and Trafalgar square in London.
Also we have to pay respect to the other long distance freedom fighters: Field Marshal Dedan Kimathi, Tom Mboya, J.M.Kariuki, Pia Gama Pinto and the entire MAUMAU movement for liberating us from colonialism and teaching us about our history!

Kenyatta, Odinga nowadays Kenyatta and Odinga again - having both opposition and government as a family business is unhealthy. Although it is the case e.g. with European politics as well, the difference is that it is more fractured so you have to look closer. I hope that the Kenyan political system will become more more differentiated and individuated and that e.g. some of the kids from the school for the deprived can actually become MPs or ministers in the foreseeable future.

Greedy for power, they were ready to kill their friends and most companions turned against one another.I should thank Mzee Jomo for maintaining a sane state and ensuring such madness didn't happen. Kenyatta was an imposter to the fight for liberation of Kenya. The film
is sincere only from the 19th minutes onwards. Otherwise, why is the
fight for Kenya's independence all about him? Who are the faces behind
Mau Mau that led to the fight for kenya's liberation? Odinga? Who were
his allies that he worked with? The film only focuses on his character
rather than the decisions he made that propelled Kenya to where it is
now. There was not much research done on his academic qualifications as
CTGN has done with several of its films. He left Kenya a poor man but
came back and accumulated wealth in a very short time. Jomo was the
founder of corruption, impunity, ethnicity, and abuse of state powers in
Kenya. HE USED HIS POWERS TO BENEFIT HIS FAMILY. He does not deserve the title because he never fought for Kenya's freedom!

It is always the case in human history. It is not unheard of that the struggle of peoples for freedom is drawn into one figure. That figure becomes the symbol of such struggle. It happened in Cuba with Fidel Castro, in Zimbabwe with Mugabe, in South Africa with Mandela etc. It is normal and acceptable. In fact more practical. Sometimes you find that those drawn into such symbolism had very little in the whole cause. In contrast the real people who partook in those struggles were responsible for every nut and bolt of the struggle would never be mentioned at all. Reality. Sad one

He had his tribesmen in all of them; either as a minister or assistant minister. He was corrupt, a collaborater, nepotist, and tribalist.
He is the reason Kenya still suffers from Tribalism and land injustices.
Then Moi took over from him, and replicated the same.
The exception is, he with his people looted the country after donor funding thinned out, and finally dried.

When he returned in 1948, he found the colony boiling over with agitation for freedom without his input. He joined the other leaders in addressing rallies across the country. In 1952 he was arrested and jailed for seven years. He was put under restriction for another two years and was only freed a year or so prior to independence. It's becoming clear he was a puppet for Britain post the regime change. Dedan Kimathi was a far more honorable man who cared about the people. He was exactly like Nelson Mandela. He didn't hate the Europeans as some of his Mau Mau generals. He always cautioned against attacking Africans who worked with the colonial government, because they were just trying to earn a living and he respected that. What he wanted wasn't even independence. He just wanted justice and fair treatment of Africans. And Africans and Europeans to live together. That was the core of his beliefs, as expressed in many of his letters to the Colonial office and his generals. Those letters are now on display at the Museums of Kenya. They had most of their land intact. For Kikuyus, it was to regain land and escape the status of being squatters. Nothing to do with bravery. Kenyatta was smart enough to differentiate between the colonialist settlers and the British government. He knew the power and might of the British, but he also understood their democratic ways. With that knowledge, he knew with the backing of the British, he could run Kenya from the palm of his hand. He successfully did run Kenya to his own benefit, and to this day, his family continues to enjoy the fruits his shrewdness.

No matter what was or is told about the legendary Jomo Kenyata he set a face, and built a Nation. he left a legacy and his exit left a vacuum in the history of Kenya. He is today remembered for his positive and negative contributions. He led the fight against the Colonial Masters, fought for the Independence of Kenya people and the people of Africa in general. Together with the other African leaders of his days the fought and restored the good image of Africa and Africans. He offered uncountable contributions in the development of Modern day Africa. He is a great hero that Africa will live to remember.

The facts show that he was as corrupt as the best of them and wasted a lot of the opportunities that Kenyan independence represented. Put simply, the white elite left and was replaced by a new black elite. Virtually nothing changed for the majority of the population, and, it could be argued, life simply stagnated. In fact in certain walks of life, such as land rights, policing, justice, local government, etc, it actually got worse for most people. Like a lot of post colonial children, you are looking at history through rose tinted glasses.

All the things you have said are lies. The Mau Mau fought Colonial power. Kenyatta who was sponsored by his political party to London came back with a white woman. On assuming power the Mau Mau were not compensated their land to date. He grabbed much land that is larger than Rwanda and Burundi combined. He assassinated his foes at the slightest chance and then you are here reporting shit.

The problem with kenyan people we are so polarized by tribalism and hate of other communities that we cant aknowledge any positive thing from anyone they deem not from their tribal preference not even an iconic leader like kenyatta is appreciated just because of his tribe. By most standards kenyatta led kenya outstandingly well and during his tenure there was rapid development the economy was strong and very affordable living standards not to mention a stable country were it not of his tough and wise leadership maybe kenya would have fallen into coupe attempts like many other african nations were plagued with coupe power struggles, wars and instabillity so kenya was infact very lucky to have jommo kenyatta

9:02 The video doesn't mention that Dr Njoroge Mungai was also a first cousin to Jomo Kenyatta (clearly Kenyatta entrenched nepotism in the country). He was the same doctor who pulled out a gun at unarmed civilians and children during a protest in Kisumu in 1969 killing two men and a young school boy of Luo ethnicity. The incident was one of many that would entrench the Luo-Kikuyu rivalry that exists to date.

I would like to take issue with the publisher and his or her comments in the preface of this documentary piece by piece please as all things are fixable for the benefit of the country:
    1) "Many institutions bear his name." - That can be fixed over night. Some will deserve to keep his name, many wont.
    2) "He upgraded the economic status of the country after independence" - No he did not - Thats quite impossible as the money markets were not controlled by him but by his handlers in the, 'City of London' Banking district known as the square mile of London a country in it's own rights and the Vatican in Rome, a country in it's own rights too.
    3) "His reign faced dark shadows when three prominent politicians were assassinated." Many Mau Mau assassinated too.
    4) He did shut down Mau Mau and destroyed their leadership from the inside and was rewarded for his part in the take down of. 'Freedom', Mau Mau style and the country has not moved one inch towards true independence from Europe since. Freemasonry pays well with hidden costs as a rule, any land if owned is temporary, the great reset of heaven is on its way and YA is not asleep on the job as Mau Mau was. All things performed in the dark will be brought into the light for scrutiny and judgement.

Kenyatta was the worst traitorin the struggle in African politics right from the beginning. He was not even imprisoned by the colonialist whites,he was put on protective custody because Mau Mau wanted him killed.
He mercilessly failed to create a Nation though he was given all the opportunities to do so.
All the problem facing this Coutry are attributable to his failure to lead this Country the way it should have been lead. HISTORY WILL COME OUT SOOON.

I hate, how we make excuses, for our so called "founders". Stop blaming old age, tradition and other people. Yes, he made his own sacrifices when younger for our country but after tasting power, changed constitution to make himself president for life, put a one party system to silence his opponents that Moi later took advantage of then grabbed millions of hectares of land for himself that his family now enjoys. Let's open our eyes, accept our mistakes, correct them and move forward as one.
