Nice follow-up! This is the config I'm most interested in, so thanks for showcasing it.
Could you do the same build with the rtx 4090 and a I9-14900k or should i upgrade it with an 240mm aio for better thermal?
Good question :-) Currently, I don't have access to either a RX4090 or a 14900k, so unfortunately I can't help with the build. I think you undervolt your cpu? If you want to switch to an AiO heavily depends on your preferences.
Great video. I'm considering buying this case and do the same matx filpped build. I wonder if you mount a shorter cooler like thermalright ss110 or noctua D9L, is it possible to have 2 12cm slim fans on the side bracket and both of them have 4 screws on each, instead of 2 like you showed in the video?
Thanks! Interesting idea with the two 120mm. Unfortunately I don’t have one of your mentioned coolers so I can’t test it. Why do you want to have 4 screws per fan? With two, the fan is perfectly mounted.
Nice build. Haven't seen too many Evo builds yet and this is the first I have seen using a mATX motherboard, was curious to see how well it fit. That Asrock motherboard has me scratching my head though. This is a B760 with 2x8 pin EPS, only use case I have seen for 2x8 pin EPS is extreme overclocking which you can't do on a B760 motherboard.
Matx is such a good form factor
I truly is but unfortunately there are not many beautiful matx boards out there.
I just finished my flipped setup and my god i was having so many issues trying to mount my sf850l with the limited options. I ended up having to mount the psu using it's fan screw locations straight to the chassis. Tried mounting to the bottom holes with the brack but the stupid front io connectors are too large.
This case is not large gpu and sfxl friendly. Definitely needs thin and flexible custom wires to be able to fit neatly. I just crammed everything in after spending roughly 4hrs putting it together with the crap instructions.
It’s really a challenging case with worse instructions. It’s really a bit of a Lego feeling.
I planned to keep my M1 V 6.1 for as long as possible but I am actually keen on upgrading to maybe finally be able to sell my awful RTX GPU and replace it with an AMD7900xtx. I still can't decide whether to buy my preferred silver anodised version or the black one. I think the black one is harder to keep clean (fingerprints, dust)
Are you planning on doing some kind of step-by-step building guide for all M1 Evo variant layouts like Christopher Flannigan's video in the future?
I'm planning to buy this case but I find the instructions very confusing.
True, the instructions are very confusing. This is really something which they should address. It remembers me a bit to lego stuff. Until know, I did not plan to do such a step-by-step building guide but may I will have a look into it. Unfortunately, I can't deal with such topics full time, so I have to see how I can find time for it.
Could you please share which direction all the case fans are set up for (inflow/outflow etc)?
Sure, here they are: Noctua NF-A9x14 HS-PWM chromax (intake), 1x NF-A12x15 chromax (exhaust) + 1x NF-A12x25 chromax (exhaust).
for the side mounted fan, could we use a 140mm 25mm fan? as well as phanteks t30 fans as well? is there enough clearance for that?
I think, everything depends on your cable management. In my system the T30 should be no problem or a 140mm slim.
Hi, nice - this is what I am looking for. Are the side noctua fan is intake and the rear one is exhaust?
Is it possibly with 2x120mm fans on the side , MATX board and A Aio? Reason why is I have a X670e Gene and 4090
I really like this board even though it only has 1 PWM on board, but back to topic. I haven't tested your configuration but I think it will be as long as you have a spare radiator mount, but there's no guarantee on that. Just my thoughts. If you test this config, please let me know :-)
Does the ANGLED KIT needed to flip the M1 Evo?
I was gonna use 240 AIO on the flipped setup, do i still need the ANGLED KIT?
okay ive been bashing my head against my monitor for the last 5 hours trying to find an accurate depiction of this flipped layout. Unfortunately, no video shows what im looking for. So before I waste $300 on a broken case, I'll ask here;
Is it not possible to mount fans above the GPU in the flipped layout? Every video I've seen the person does not install them even tho there looks to be mounting rails included specifically for this. Am I missing something?
Problem ist, that you don’t have a possibility to screw the fans on. You need a radiator bracket or something like this. Height wise there should be enough space (spends as well on your gpu). That’s are my thought, no guarantees ;-)
Nice video! What about thermal performance for both GPU and CPU? Could you share your temps gaming?
Thanks! Benchmarks and temps are on my todo. Will prepare something :)
Are you guys gonna try the Dual 280 HWL custom loop build ? 😅😅😅
I won't be trying that, too much stress (and I don't have the hardware 😅). Will you?
How do you attach the top fans and the bracket?
As far as I know with spacers but I did not test it. May I will it try in the next days.
I have the same cooler but i cant put the fan bracket over top of it i dont know how you got it to fit that way, same flipped setup too but i have am5 not intel setup
This is really strange, for me it wasn't a problem as shown in the video. What's the problem then? Cooler too high?
Do the side panels bulge in any way in this configuration? What if you use an ITX mobo?
if I were to have two top fans above for a FE card would they be exhaust or intake?@@hrdwreblog
I would say intake to help the gpu but that’s my opinion. May some people say exhaust.
6:26 is that side panel bowed or just a camera artifact?
During all the builds and the various tests, I bent a small part. As there are no cables interfering at this point, I assume that this is the cause.

@@hrdwreblog ahh ok, that makes sense.
i really want to get this case, but its a lot of $$$ and i'm not in love with the gaps/holes on the back (due to high customisability)...
i am waiting for your custom loop build, hopefully dual rad? :hint hint:
Yes, it's really expensive but I have to admit, I find it extremely pretty. However, it's also a bit fragile when you're working with it (as I painfully found out). Once you've put the parts together, that changes of course. But that's just the way it is when a case comes in parts, it has advantages but also disadvantages.
Because of the water cooling. You REALLY want to see that? I actually don't like building custom loops into ITX systems any more. So little space. So much pain. But. I'll see if I feel like doing it (if I have all the parts I need and it doesn't look like it at the moment) ;-)
Proportions of this case are looking completely off (way too long looking) and the mesh sides look really flimsy and downright cheap compared to the OG M1. I was waiting for this case to come out but just looking at it doesn't want me to go ahead and buy it, unlike its predecessor. Just my two cents though...
I'm also not a fan of the side panels and the way they are attached. I much prefer the mounting on the DAN (LianLi PushPin) even that I don't like that so much.
Appreciate the video - the M1 Evo manual leaves a lot to be desired, so it was great to be able to reference your videos as well.
Thanks! Happy that my video helped a bit.
