  • Gel stain is my go to stain! I love how you can use it on both bare wood AND existing finish. Sometimes you don't want to sand down to wood grain, but you want a wood stain LOOK. Gel stain is perfect for this. Watch in this video while I go over a few different finishes to show how it works.
    You can put it over wood, paint, laminate, porcelain, plastic, and most other materials. I use Dixie Belle no pain gel stain in colonial black, walnut, georgian cherry, and pickling white in this video.
    You can also mix these stains together to create lighter and darker tones.

    I remember you lost your Pop not long after my mom went on hospice. I, too, lost my dad to cancer 19 years ago. Kindred spirits so to speak. I'm sure your Pop is so proud of you. I just love that you were able to not only show your artwork, but have your first sale in a place that meant so much to you both. Hugs to you my furniture painting friend

    TY for the great video. How long should I allow for drying? I don't want to sound like the typical internet weirdo but you're very pretty and your eyes are absolutely beautiful. Yeah I guess the last sentence put me into the weirdo category. Sorry about your Pop, glad you still have the strength to move forward and continue with creating videos.

      @e320treasures7  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, it was your name that put you into weirdo category, lol. But if you really want to know, it depends on the humidity in your area. If it is a large area like a dining table and it’s raining outside it could take up to four or five days, but if it’s a small piano bench and it’s sunny outside it could just take a couple of hours. You’ll know when it is smooth to the touch and not tacky.

      @@e320treasures7 LMAO, I created the name about 14 years ago as a joke and I never changed it. Thank you for the reply on the drying times.

    This is not a good tutorial at all. You don’t even explain what you’re doing. It skips all over the place you talk about your personal life and nothing about the tutorial.

    I'm attempting to stain my daughters window seal over pain and her baseboards over paint and her door. I bought oil based stain but don't know where to start and need help! Do I need to put on a pre stain?? Thank you! I love your videos!

    • @e320treasures7
      @e320treasures7  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there! Keep in mind when you’re staining it’s going to take multiple coats of the gel stain. Especially if it’s a darker stain over a light colored paint. If that’s the case, you could always paint a darker color as a base and THEN stain if you like the finish of the stain better. Keep in mind, there is not going to be any woodgrain if the baseboards and door are already painted. You would have to sand all the way down down to bare wood.
      And thank you!!

    I see that you didn't wipe off with a clean rag as they usually do it so I gather it was thick. How long did it take to dry and do you know if this has the same drying time as General Finishes gel stain ? Did you sand or scuff before staining? Thanks

    • @e320treasures7
      @e320treasures7  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey jazzy! Thank you for your comment. I went back and watched the video and I’m not sure what you mean.I used different socks to wipe the stain on but if I was mixing on a table did not switch from one color to the other because I was mixing. And no, I did not sand before staining. I hope this answers your question!

    • @e320treasures7
      @e320treasures7  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m also not sure about the general finishes gel stain as I’ve never used it, but I would guess that it is close to the same drying time. Keep in mind, that drying times vary depending on the amount of humidity in your air. I have had tables dry within 24 hours, and then others take up to three or four days if it’s super rainy outside. Just know that any oil base gel stain will be smooth to the touch when it is completely dry.

    • @e320treasures7
      @e320treasures7  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can, just make sure you stir it really really good first. It’s very thin and I do not prefer it over even just plain poly acrylic from a big box store.

      Most of them were not painted, but you could put no pain gel stain OVER any paint that has completely dried. It will have the same look.

    Can you go over gel stain with water base varnish?

  • @pucketts57
    @pucketts57 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi . I painted my base & chair rail while with light colored walls . I got access to free pallets & started using those boards as an accent wall . Then all of a sudden they were going on the wall as a wainscotting . Idea was to change to a stainable base & chair rail .
    Quiet expensive now tho
    If i sanded down the base & chair rail is it possible to use the stain
    I tried but used the liquid instead of the gel so im happy to switch to your way . Ill try sending a pick of my pallet wall that for now is not sealed . Guess in another comment lol

      Perhaps you are correct. However, she taught me the different colors, how to keep straight lines, and how not to mess up the bags my stencils come in. Also, really liked her screen presence. Also, I’ve found hand methods give you more control.
