I have a 2011 yfz450r and when I replaced the the plate clutches and the plate friction plates with new ones. The clutch is too loose. Since the plates are new and thicker, the pressure plate sits further away from the push rod and not engaging the clutch. If I re install the old ones the clutch feels the way it should. Any idea why this is happening? I mean, at some point the bike will need new plates. Thanks for the help in advance
Will the basket hold up for a stock engine--at least for a while? I just got my 22 YFZ and your video has almost made me afraid to ride it. Have you ever seen them go on a stock engine? I plan on changing it out once I start the standard upgrades, pipe, vortex, etc, but I just got it and want to ride. I can't believe Yamaha hasn't addresses this.
Search for "2014 yfz450 clutch basket" and you will see varying testimonials from people who've had their clutch basket explode at 20 hours and some who've gone 100+ hours with no issues. Everything I've read has stated these things are a ticking timebomb, even for stock engines. The issue isn't necessarily caused by power output. The stock pressure plates are made of thinner metal that is prone to bending, and when that happens, the springs in the pressure plate unseat themselves and shoot out under massive force which will likely crack your case side, and possibly your center case, and parts of your transmission. This is the number one upgrade to do on a 2014+ YFZ, even more important than a tuner to eliminate the lean bog. It's a cheap mod and not worth the trouble you might deal with down the line if you ignore it.
It comes with a washer between the basket and inner hub when I install washer it won’t push clutch apart but when I don’t install the washer it will disengage do I need the washer?
I just got off the phone is a Yamaha rep and they said that they fixed this issue in late 21 so 21 and on doesnt need this fixed, any truth to that that you have seen?

This is bad info they did not
@BNRMotorsports1 They didn't? Is it still a problem for even the 2024 models?
