I have never in my life actually "aimed" at a target down the lane, I basically look just past the foul line and focus more on mechanics. I bowled in a mens handicap league for 9 years and averaged 220, and before that a junior program where I averaged roughly 214. I have three perfect games, three 299's, a 296, and two 290 games. My biggest accomplishment was stringing together twenty strikes in a row from game one into game two, sadly game two ended up at 299! I have never shot an 800 series. I often wonder if I actually did "aim" at a target how much better I might have been.
I think most people who can do that are very athletic, having a better targeting system will help you make the small moves that get you to an 800 series
Best explanation to a new bowler. Given in plain English so we newbies can understand the basic techniques of bowling. Thanks a bunch and keep up the good work.
hey Chris, I made a note of where my left foot was on the lane and target 8th board. I used my IQ Tour nano pearl and made 5 strikes in a row for a 211 score. My avg. is 157. @@expertbowlergaming
Timing refers more to the finish than the start. You want your slide to end right before you release the ball. You move the ball at different times based on how many steps you take, and the amount of steps doesn’t have anything to do with timing.
he’s right. The amount of steps does not matter. You learn this from watching and looking up basic fundamentals of bowling. It doesn’t matter if he took 20 more steps before he threw his shot. If he reaches the bottom of the push away two steps before he releases, then his timing is considered perfect. Doesn’t matter if his timing is off either. Fast or way too slow, if you’re striking and successful, don’t fix what is not broken.
it depends, it is not perfect every time. The key is that you have a target and know the amount of boards to move to hit you target and get the desired outcome

I thought the lay down point was 7 boards from where you standing ?
