Console 1.4 terraria coming on 30th and I’m well hyped and the thing is iv been trying to learn more about building because I wanna start a master mode world where I make nice appealing builds
The grate is one of the most interesting blocks in this update, especially its use as a window

Has someone who blew away my crimson with a metric ton of tnt, dirt bombs are a life saver to fill the giant hole I've made, too bad there is no mud bomb for my scared jungle

World gen fucked with my jungle, taking 3/4 of the surface of it by the Corruption , which i find even worse to clean with bombs than the Crimson. I wish mud bombs were a thing, it would have been much easier for me to terraform my jungle into existance.
I had to delete my first 1.4 world cause my jungle was coverd with crimson
Mud bombs would be a great toll for working in the jungle/ mushroom biom!
A shame, but I guess it's for the fear of crimson/corruption still, if we could easily fix that, no worry anymore.

I found your channel after coming back to Terraria for 1.4, and I never really bothered to do any nice early game housing. I'm glad I found this channel, as I realise I can make decent houses pre-hardmode. I'm currently building my village with your various styles for roofs and boreal wood houses, because I think it looks luxurious. (I still need to get access to paint.) A stone tower to house an early hellavator. A mini graveyard biome on a bug round hill that overlooks the viliage. I want to build a crypt in the hill and a spooky shrieking shack on top of it. Then I will build a quary with some mineshafts as a boss Arena for the Eye of Chuthulu.
I’m a builder at heart above all else, so I generally love everything new added to the building scene.

The spoiler warning alone was enough for me to like this video. You have no idea how much that's appreciated. I already had one channel ruin the surprise of the new bosses for me, and I was very upset.
Oh, one thing you didn't mention I think should've had a place is the Slice of Cake. The Slice of Cake is an item you can obtain from the party girl upon speaking to her if someone is throwing a party! The cake acts as an action buff (Exp, Crystal Ball, Ammo Box, etc.), and this buff increases you mining speed for a couple minutes. Its handy to have around when you need to clear a lot of blocks.
Ohhh I LOVE the actuated grate window shutter!
One thing regarding the dry bomb (quoting the wiki) You can buy more dry bombs from the demolitionist IF you have one in your inventory.
You first have to get wet bombs from obsidian/hellstone crates and turn those into dry bombs.
I could see dirt bombs being useful, maybe not for builds meant to look nice, but it will make filling in space for farms a lot easier.
Yeah. Ironically moments after I recorded me saying they probably won't be useful to me, I ended up using a bunch of them to fill a hole I made from the spawn point segment of the video, bahahaha.
They're nice if, say, you want to fill in holes meteors leave.

These grates are seriously a life-changer, but I would never have thought of them as shutters.
I'm gonna add grate shutters to my spawn bunker to close during lockdowns for effect. Great discovery, thanks!

@Khaios Probably something for the future, for an anniversary milestone. But I've always thought it would be awesome if you were to assemble a load of your best/favourite builds from your channel and combine them (I assume one can copy-paste from different worlds with tEdit) all into one big playable map, and then do a tour of them. I don't know how easy that might be now due to the changes between versions, the Stone slab stuff for instance would have to be reworked to accented slab.
Fan Tip!; ( I doubt I'm the 1st to do this but for those who haven't heard...)
I've found it helpful when attempting elaborate builds to plan similar you would in any drafting project. I use a GRAPH COMPOSITION NOTEBOOK. 📊📈📉📝📐📏✏✂🖇🗜💭⌚.
The emojis are just to convey a bunch of loosely related concepts. They are unnecessary but lots of things are. I appreciate people that take this game seriously as a creative outlet
Hey Khaios! I love your videos :) but im curious how do you stay so inspired? Your builds and techniques are so cool
Inspiration comes from a lot of places, and varies from project to project. Largely, I'm motivated to keep going because there is such an amazing community forming around this channel! But as for individual inspiration for each build/video, that's really hard to answer since it changes every day.
I'm doing a normal playthrough first, but man, can't wait for Journey Mode's convenience.

the "step tool" allowing the character to reach 4 tiles higher than usually possible.
found in surface chests or wooden crate ;)

With all but the changes to block blending (particularly Dynasty wood which makes me cry), the building changes have been great. Journey mode is my favorite thing ever. Just can’t wait until Tedit and Tmodloader get the update.
Same here! TEdit is actually currently functional. It's in a beta, and has some missing features, but it does work. Since it's a beta, though, make sure you backup world saves just to be safe ;)

Damn, first video I have watched by you. You are extremely talented & well composed in how you layer the content you want to put in your videos. You have a very precise, and diligent method to it. You know exactly what you need to do for a video to make it hit off with an audience; what to leave in, what not to.. how to word it, how not to word it, etc.. Keep up the good work, man.

Im stopping myself from finishing the video at 9:38 so i dont spoil myself but i saw the liquid stuff and really wanted to add to it, you could also duplicate regular buckets and filled buckets as a way to remove and place liquid, infact it felt like it was faster than their unlimited counterparts but i could be completely wrong about that.

R.I.P sandstone slab, your property of not blending with other blocks will be missed.
I love the honey bombs, because it basically means infinite honey, even if it doesn't have its own endless bucket. Just craft a stack of honey bombs and you have more honey tiles you'll ever need, and if you run out of bombs just buy more dry bombs and make more honey bombs using the tiles you've already thrown. No more harvesting honey from the jungle or waiting 12 years for the liquid to dupe.
So much of this is amazing for adventure maps and golf maps but I wish it had one thing that would elevate its potential for maps to the next level. Sensors for bosses. If they added sensors that would activate when bosses or events are complete, combined with stuff like anti portal blocks and echo blocks, people could make entire complex games with boss progression and everything would be crazy.

Kailos the grates gave me a small idea, make underwater waterfall like build using grates and bubbles.

Hey khaios I was wondering what type of wall to use for a floating island Like for the bottom of the floating island but yeah I love the vids they inspire me to build something cool.
Why not Celestial Starboard for wings? It's tied for 2nd best in speed, tied for best in height, best in duration (last 2 don't matter with Soaring Insignia), and you can boost upwards and hover. So pretty much just the best wings period.

Dirt bombs are an absolute lifesend for building giant floating islands, it's just a shame they don't have other variants.

I recently played your golf map and i really liked it! Im even making my own. But when you finish it if you go to the left of the celebration place it gets dark and a bit distorted. How did you create that effect?
That's a item called the void monolith. You can craft it using some luminite at the ancient manipulator.
