I was there for that goal - against Villa in 91. I was a big fan of Kenny Brown. Great to see him doing well.

Great to hear this. About 20 years ago, my son left spurs ( 12 week trial then West Ham 6 week trial). Other parents whose sons were released were neatly crying. I was delighted. Lovely trainers but they all left school at 16, only interested ( understandably) in football. At around the same time a family member played for spurs youth ( aged 11-16), then Luton for three years. No mention of education, then kicked out into the real world at 19, having lived off praise for kicking a ball . I wrote to the FA ( I was an assistant Director of Education in a London Borough), and told them the system was a form of child abuse ie robbing children of their education. I was very very impressed with the FA who invited me to “train the trainers “ at Lilleshall, the FA headquarters at the time. Alas, I was too busy, but hats off to the FA for taking me seriously before social media and “. Other sorts of abuse were exposed” ( I was not accusing them of that sort of abuse to be clear). Very very impressed with how eloquent Ken Brown is in this video. Congratulations.

'Finding the next one...' Judging by what I saw last night at Arsenal, you may have found the next 11. Brilliant work at the Emirates and a very promising future for those players and the club. Good to see a Brown running things - Kenny's dad is a lifelong hero of mine.

I think if you look at the crop of players that we have playing for the U23s and the U18s atm, I think he's right!
I really don't think the next one is too far away, you know.
Especially if you look at the 18s reaching the FA Youth Cup Final and winning the league as well, I really do think that at least one of those lads will make their full Premier League debut soon because they definitely seem good enough and they definitely seem ready.
It's literally just up to Moyes (or whoever is in charge next season) to take a risk and give them a chance.
Players like Mubama, Coventry, Scarles, Okoflex, Luizao, Hegyi, Marshall and Swyer all look ready imo so I believe one of those will break into the first team next season with Mubama looking the most likely #COYI ⚒️⚒️⚒️
That's looking into the future but if we look into the past for a moment, yes we're not the biggest club in England but we certainly DO have one of the biggest histories and one of the biggest set of names to come through our academy, that's undeniable!
Look at Lampard, Carrick, Defoe, Ferdinand, Joe Cole, Noble, Moore etc etc etc I could go on these are seriously top quality players who went on to have magnificent careers so yes we might not be the best team in England but we sure have one of the best academies that's for sure and it is wonderful for us to see as fans and long may it continue #COYI ⚒️⚒️⚒️

West ham always had a reputation for promoting from within, nothing exemplifies the clubs traditions more, as the game has changed the club have found it hard to maintain that tradition, so its refreshing to see Kenny Brown have an influence in the Academys direction.
For stability, growth and continuity it would appear to be an easy choice to make, for the same reasons plus loyalty and capability Kevin Keen imo should be in consideration for the managers job, as and when it next becomes available....

How an earth did we not win the old division 1 in the 60s? We had players like Moore, Brooking, Bonds, Peters, Hurst. They were WORLD CLASS players!

They were good at home, but beyond relegation form away from home if you look at the stats

You should’ve got him to explain how he feels
About nepotism seeing as he just signed his son as a pro following his release from Arsenal. Ask him if he would’ve signed any other triallist who was playing centre half and got absolutely torn apart in an 8-0 loss like his son did when he played for the u18s against funnily enough Arsenal. They had a schoolboy up front who scored 5 that game
