    The first use I thought of was using this something like real-world error bars... I am a forester. I use a GPS to collect points around the boundary of a stand I am setting up for a harvest. I don't have a super-duper GPS, so I don't get great accuracy. If I collected the estimated accuracy at each point around the stand, then put that accuracy into the M value, then created a line out of the points, then buffered that line, I would have a representation of the smallest and largest that stand could be.
