    I have been looking at these reels for months, now I finally have them. These reels, are some of the best you can get for super light jigging, both for fast and slow jigging. The PG is great for both fast jigging and shallow water slow jigging. The HG is excellent for Slow Jigging tai rubber applications.
    I plan to use these reels in both the shallow waters of the gulf and the deeper east coast of the UAE.
    After using the Calcutta Conquest for a long time, and the Ocea Calcutta as my main reels for casting and slow jigging respectively, I decided to grab these two because I have been very happy of the performance of those two first reels.
    The main difference between both reels is the rate of retrieve each of them have. I explain why I got both reels, and the importance of the rate of retrieve, what they are used for and why it is useful to use the right one for the application. I also talk about the Calcutta Conquest and the Ocea Calcutta, also two very good reels.

    Thank you for this video. What is the ratio you would recommend for Tai Rubber? I am going to try out a couple of sliders this autumn, I have a Maxel Transformer 60b rod and Maxel Hybrid 20 and Shimano Ocea Conquest 300 hg.reels

      It depends on a couple of things. A. the tai rubber you are using B. the depth. Tai rubber tails are mostly where the action comes from, then the head shape. There are certain types that have heads that move, while others the heads just shake side to side. I found the ones with head movements require a faster reel, while for those that dont move (and just rely on the tail) are ok with slower speeds (like a PG). The deeper you go, the faster the reel, because of the stretch of the line. Don't look at the ratio, look at the length the reel retrieves per turn. you can find a 4:1 that retrieves faster than reels that are 6:1.
      Whichever reel you choose, try to see which speed gives your tai rubber the best action, then remember that speed, more than likely, it will be the speed that the fish will respond to.

    Hi , have you tried casting these OCs ? If you , what is the it compared to the CQs , is it the same given they have same controls ..etc ?.. I am intending to buy OC for mixed use Jigging and casting driven by the fact I see it’s better package than the CQs , is that correct ? What do you advise , one more question , is the level line in the OCs synced like the CQs i mean @ free spool ?

    • @TheFishingKit

      The Ocea Conquests are made for jigging, not casting, so you can lob them, but not really cast - the Calcutta conquests are better for that, external cast controls are there to adjust to the weight of the lure you cast, the Ocea Conquests have narrower spools than the Calcutta Conquest. The level winds are not synched.

    Does the ocea conquest 200 hg have a synchronized levelwind or a disengaging levelwind ? Does the level wind moves when line coming out of the reel ( against drag or in freespool ) . I am asking because i ordered and just received a ocea conquest 200 hg and noticed my levelwind only moves when reeling in line . When line coming off the reel in freespool or against drag , the levelwind does not move .

      It does not have a synchronized levelwind. The 200 and below models have a narrow spool, you don't really need them to synch for narrow spools.

    Excellent topic.
    Jigging in shallow waters like dubai sometimes can be quite challanging I terms of technical aspects especially in summer period when the bites are more slim.and super light jigging is becoming more popular as a marketing scheme by the Japanese companies, still not much thorough guides for shallow water jigging compared to slow jigging I must say.
    Being a longtime Baitcaster I adore Calcutta lineup , used the 201xg very nice reel.
    It’s like to ask what would you choose for an ultralight setup ( 0.8pe ) for dubai in between 2021 Calcutta conquest 201hg vs 2023 ocea conquest 201hg both of them around 78cm retrieve ratio.
    Or should I go for slower 70cm retrieve options instead? I believe 70cm would be more effective in dubai 10-20m depth but many of my friends suggest higher ratio. What do you think ?

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      PG is well suited for depths of up to 50/60m. Not HG...you actually see a huge difference with this. With the PG in these depths, you can do both fast and slow jigging with the same reel. Don't take my word for this - look for someone with a PG reel then try it out and see for yourself before investing in a Ocea Conq.

      Ocea Conquest are light jigging reels. Calcutta Conquests are their casting counterparts. In Shimano's verbiage, they do not classify these reels as jigging reels because they classify things differently in their organization...but in use it's a different story. If you want to verify this, its as simple as looking for videos of any Japanese Shimano pro staff using these reels as casting reels - if you find one, show me - I'd like to see it.

    When the fishing is tough you are in the wrong location at the wrong time and no reel or lure is going to change it. But quality reels improve the experience of fishing and decreases frustration and risk of malfunction and loss

      @@TheFishingKit In a small body of water the fish aren't leaving the pond, but even then in tough conditions or if you're fishing the part of the pond where the fish aren't, no reel or lure is going produce fish. There are techniques which can incrementally increase your odds of success if the fish are there, but you have to be where the fish are. But this is a saltwater reel though, and for saltwater fishing 95% of fishing is about finding the fish and being able to get the lures in front of them. Any real fisherman knows that.

    • @TheFishingKit
      @TheFishingKit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Eric-zs6rd yes, if you aren't finding the fish then you can't catch - that's not the topic of the video though. Why would you fish for marlin in a lake anyway? What I am talking about is when you are in the right spot already and the fish are not biting. Slow jigging was invented to give you bites even when fish are not active. Fishing has a lot to do with speed - speed = your reel's rate or retrieve. Rods have different actions - you can't use a casting rod for jigging and expect to be effective. Having the right gear matters. No matter how you look at it. Professional Bass fishermen, professional saltwater fishermen don't just carry ONE type of gear. They carry an assortment to give them the best chance to catch good fish. The video isn't about finding fish, it's about having the right gear to give you the best chance possible. If you believe you can catch more fish than the guy with the right skill set and the correct gear, then stick to that - your formula for fishing works for you, and congrats. As for the rest of us, it's a different story.
