I find a big part of the whole BBQ experience is the whole experience including the lighting and waiting for the charcoal to come to temperature. Who turns down extra beer time when BBQing. Wont have one of those igniters. LOL
There are times I enjoy lighting the fire with a chimney and taking my time, but 9 times out of 10 I need to get the fire going fast and get the meat on so I can get back to my day. It’s been awesome for us, and when I have the time, I’ll use a tumbleweed and a chimney and just let it go. Both ways are good for us.
It really depends on how you use it. Most of the time I don’t run it full blast like I do in the video. I usually run it about 1/3 to 1/2 power and it lights things quickly without as many sparks. I can usually light 25-30 fires on a tank like I use in the video before I can tell it’s starting to run short. Tanks are like $3 at most box stores, so it’s not a fuel hog.
Couldn't buy it in Europe. And by the way; NOT SUITABLE FOR THE FLEECE AND NYLON GENERATION! And you´re right the searing functionality is the reason I want one. Especially for whole hog crispy skin.
