  • THE INSIDE OUT PITCH EXPLAINED
    I like to have the hang loops on the inside for my lantern, and hate getting the grab handle loops wet, takes too long to air out Just my little quirk, but the basha is still water proof either way round. The only reason we put the basha the other way round is so it doesn't reflect shine from torch light by the enemy, but I am using it for wild camping, no enemy apart from badgers, who don't carry torches.....
    Hope you enjoy this feature. Also coming soon is a new to the channel extra, called Bex quick tips, a short tips video, running between the the main weekly regular videos, published randomly, in accordance to personal time constraints...bexbugoutsurvivor

    Thank you for all of this information, Brother !!!
    It's good for me to revisit those techniques (retired in '07), and for my kids to hear it from someone that isn't their father (but, someone whom their father respects and trusts).
    Thank you once again, Brother !!!

    I have a DPM British army basha, great for stealth camping . I prefer tarps to tents as they can be configured into many configurations plus you feel more part of the environment under a tarp as you can see your surroundings, you just don't get that experirnce with tents in my opinion so for me its all about the tarps.

    DPM will always be king in woodland, but I've found MTP works just fine everywhere else in the UK, especially in moorland, while working "good enough" in woodland too.

      MTP camo was used in the middle East. It suited the environment of the dessert. The MK1 desrrert cam or DDPM was beige and pink, and never really worked....
      It took a bit for me to be won round with MTP, but Autumn
      and winter with the fallen leaves, MTP is a great blend. DPM comes into its own in the spring and summer in the Uk. Love all Army kit, (regardless of pattern issue)
      The new 2020 / 2021 camo DPM will be out to issue soon> my mates son is serving, so will acquire one for review in the dead of night, wink wink...bex

    Just a friendly observation. It occurs to me that straight lines are rare in English deciduous woodland, which persuades me to think that where near invisibility is the name of the game, straight lines in the shape of the tarp/basha shelter need to be disguised or concealed. There's no doubt appropriate camo helps but, anything visually "out of place"draws attention to itself and undermines all the effort put into choosing the right site and making best use of available natural cover. Keep the vids coming buddy, and stay low observable, none of us want you to be caught and blacklisted by the Country Landowners Association, and hounded out of the countryside ! The vids are great and very lookforwardableto, for which, many thanks. Keep warm ,stay dry and well fed from your stealthy cook-outs. God bless now.

    • @bexbugoutsurvivor
      @bexbugoutsurvivor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The only observable lines ( basha) is the ridge, which we covered in a past older video.

    Bex I've a small 1" V shaped tear in Basha can you suggest a repair I could use?Thanks John

    • @bexbugoutsurvivor
      @bexbugoutsurvivor  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On the inner side of the tear tape it closed with masking tape, just to hold its shape. Now on the outer use (Tenacious Tape) to make the final neater repair, and just remove the masking tape from the inner. Ensure you round the corners of the repair tape. Tenacoius tape can be bought on ebay, but ifs not cheap, and you only get about a metre of the stuff....

    • @bexbugoutsurvivor
      @bexbugoutsurvivor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both patterns of camo are equally durable with the same amount of seam seal, and fixing points and grommets in the same location. The MTP is far longer than the DPM allowing 2 people share one shelter. The DPM is better suited to a soloist. Neither are long enough for a hammock unless pitched on its diagonal corners, but both are more than adequate for the ground dweller. Being rectangle cam limit the configurations over a square tarp (IMHO) Never had a bad night in 31 years of using these on the ground. Top tip (dig a water trench to redirect ground water from ingression of the living space).....bex

      Yes easily. ATC teach crows to use just 1 bash between 2 as standard. The set up for 2 is strung up a bit different tho, but even in this A frame configuration, seen in this video, leaves loads of space, taking into account the MTP pattern basha is longer than the DPM pattern...
