I had actually turned down the opportunity to visit Mayapur Dham on my penultimate visit to Kolkata, back in 2002. I was adamant that my way of praying was the best and my family insisted I stay with them in Kolkata although I was so ill. They fed me well and I got over my bad stomach. My late father and mother had really enjoyed Mayapur Dham at the time. I was brought up in the Shia Muslim Gujarati way as well as in Krishna consciousness. My mother learned Bengali soon after marrying my father. She visited Assam when my brother was a baby. My parents really loved ISKCON however they didn’t go to the temple for years before then resuming again when I was older. I had sung in the temple in Mumbai in 2002 when we visited India again that year. I wasn’t too inspired by ISKCON back then due to fraudulent Gurus, but slowly I drew a lot of comfort by staying at the Bhaktivedanta Manor for a few days once we had returned to London. I had the opportunity to do a lot of seva at Radha London Isvara here like Harinam, later on. I also sang and taught religion in our Ismaili Muslim Centre here too over the years. I sing Garba for community functions as a part of a band for this particular Muslim community. I have also served in the Jalaram temple. I have been to my local Gurudwara too, many times. Our Muslim devotional literature mainly from Gujarat teaches us how Buddha, Jesus and other saints and Prophets were dear to the Lord. I serve in our Prayer Circle and Devotional Literature class these days. I have had some vivid experiences and incredible dreams of the Lord in His many forms throughout my life right from early childhood. I have also experienced Deedar of the Spiritual master. It is very fulfilling and peaceful living life according to such conviction. I am so glad you went to Mayapur Dham. It looks so peaceful as usual. You must connect to live arti on TH-cam! When I visited Mayapur we stayed in Conch Bhavan that was very luxurious stay. From the balcony even you can enjoy kirtan. It was an amazing experience ❤
