Yes, the link to the tragedy also has to do with the timing of its release. It has tremendous meaning to the people of Korea and that’s why it has not left the charts in Korea since it was released. It’s both a song about longing and sadness and missing a loved one, and a protest of the government corruption that created and tried to cover up the ferry tragedy, and it was so courageous of them to do that at a time they were still struggling and powerless as a group. They earned themselves a spot on a government blacklist but luckily that president was removed from office, partly spurred by protest of this tragedy.
Luke, the reasons for the deep emotions underlying SPRING DAY will not become apparent until you watch the explanation video, of which there are several, but the one by the Italian ARMY is especially well done. Just be prepared to be horrified by one of the worst crimes of this century. BTS couldn’t express this in the lyrics or video for the song because they’re not supposed to be political, but it’s clear that it’s a real interpretation of this event. For example, the time on the clock in the laundromat when JUNGKOOK runs through is the exact time this event occurred. But it’s truly a beautiful song, written by RM, to help assuage the pain. Don’t worry, we’ll be right there with you when you’re watching the MV & explanation! And yes, wasn’t this a wonderful little mini-concert?! I’ve watched BTS’s TINY DESK CONCERT many many times and enjoy it every single time. The voices, the outfits, the live band, the fact that they couldn’t sit still and had to get up and bop around, the joy they get when performing these songs that they’ve sung thousands of times…it’s just great! Next you should watch the 2021 FESTA BTS ROOM LIVE. It gives you one-minute-long clips of 7 or 8 songs, one from each of their previous albums. Gives you a taste of things you’ll want to follow up on! A super video!
Sadly, this event mirrors a lot of tragedies around the world. Not to take away from it in any way but to express that those of us that have experienced similar tragedies in our countries and understand the inability of people to speak up against tyrant, the MV is a hopeful and comforting message they are sending to all of us.
Not supposed to be political? Are you forgetting “Am I wrong?” and the performance on television? Plus their many other songs about society including their debut song. I wouldn’t put it past them if in their new album they talk about the current political situation in S. Korea, with RM’s word play. The MV is a tribute to the tragedy but the song itself is about personal experiences from RM & Suga. It’s such a beautiful, touching and deeply personal song to me. I’m am also glad the MV brings to light what happened in the Sewol ferry tragedy so it and the lives lost are never forgotten.

I too share my love for BTS with my friends and they don't understand...or aren't moved enough yet to tap into their catalog of music to appreciate them. The MV for Save Me was done in one take. On the first season of Bon Voyage, our boys were on a beach and just fooling around and they start doing the choreography for Save Me and it is being filmed from a drone overhead. And they are PERFECT! They make me cry every time too.

It was a devastating event in South Korea and BTS did not let it slide for the unfairly treatment it received. One among their many other social awakening songs. When I was first learning about BTS from my daughter, Spring Day would come on in the car and without knowing anything, it would bring me to tears. I literally didn’t know the lyrics or anything, but you can *feel* when they sing. As for the song- the story is more about the video, not necessarily when the song was written. We don’t know and based on what RM has said, it was written about missing a friend or someone but also about the story. It can mean what you want but the video is definitely about the event you will learn about. Have to add that this is just one of the examples of the amazing lyricism of RM. He’s a literally genius with lyrics and he does write something like more than 80% of their Korean lyrics. So many songs to learn about. For me, Zero O’Clock is another totally genius one. And yeah getting into BTS like this, it’s a sign of an open heart and they really are a just a conduit of joy and positive energy, even when it’s about difficult topics. They are really special, all 7, just destined to be who they are.

Omg this was so cute, they had me dancing and sing along to the three songs, the choice of songs sent e from being happy to sad and i went in a roller coaster of emotions. DynAMIte had me singing and dancing along and i so wanted to be that vinyl record so badly. Save Me had me in my feelings as i was smiling along, swaying and also Jimin, Tae and Jungkook dancing along to the chorus had me laughing so much. Spring Day i had a tear in my eye thru that song and the vocals during it had me in my feelings so badly. I’m a nurse and it’s been a rough last two years, JM has been my source of comfort. I’m also a dancer so I’m addicted to JM’s live performances, fan cams and dance practices, my eyes are always glued to him. JM caught my eyes when BTS covered first generation idol group Shinwa’s 2002, Perfect Man in 2015. I would love to see your reaction for that performance.

BTS sang Spring Day to ARMY very often during the intense times of the pandemic. It's so amazing how any of their songs can have meanings that fit so many different lives and situations. Even when their world tour got canceled and they were upset, they got right back to helping people who were suffering, they way they do best. Dynamite was made to bring people joy. They released "BE" their most recent album to give comfort. The best way to describe that album is like their personal diary in music form, and its single Life Goes On is really something special 💜Now restrictions are starting to be lifted, so they released the song Permission to Dance and are tentatively trying to do live concerts again for the first time in years. The future's looking brighter now, and I'm very excited for you to experience all those songs! 💜

BTS couldn’t express this in the lyrics or video for the song because they’re not supposed to be political, but it’s clear that it’s a real interpretation of this event. For example, the time on the clock in the laundromat when JUNGKOOK runs through is the exact time this event occurred. But it’s truly a beautiful song, written by RM, to help assuage the pain. Don’t worry, we’ll be right there with you when you’re watching the MV & explanation!
And yes, wasn’t this a wonderful little mini-concert?! I’ve watched BTS’s TINY DESK CONCERT many many times and enjoy it every single time. The voices, the outfits, the live band, the fact that they couldn’t sit still and had to get up and bop around, the joy they get when performing these songs that they’ve sung thousands of times…it’s just great!
Next you should watch the 2021 FESTA BTS ROOM LIVE. It gives you one-minute-long clips of 7 or 8 songs, one from each of their previous albums. Gives you a taste of things you’ll want to follow up on! A super video!
Sadly, this event mirrors a lot of tragedies around the world. Not to take away from it in any way but to express that those of us that have experienced similar tragedies in our countries and understand the inability of people to speak up against tyrant, the MV is a hopeful and comforting message they are sending to all of us.
Not supposed to be political? Are you forgetting “Am I wrong?” and the performance on television? Plus their many other songs about society including their debut song. I wouldn’t put it past them if in their new album they talk about the current political situation in S. Korea, with RM’s word play.
The MV is a tribute to the tragedy but the song itself is about personal experiences from RM & Suga. It’s such a beautiful, touching and deeply personal song to me.
I’m am also glad the MV brings to light what happened in the Sewol ferry tragedy so it and the lives lost are never forgotten.

The MV for Save Me was done in one take. On the first season of Bon Voyage, our boys were on a beach and just fooling around and they start doing the choreography for Save Me and it is being filmed from a drone overhead. And they are PERFECT! They make me cry every time too.

One of my favorite things about Spring Day is getting to hear J-Hope sing. I love his voice. So lovely to hear all of them sing together in this format. Like you said, phenomenal vocalists all of them and it is fun to watch them "play" together. 💜

It was a devastating event in South Korea and BTS did not let it slide for the unfairly treatment it received. One among their many other social awakening songs. When I was first learning about BTS from my daughter, Spring Day would come on in the car and without knowing anything, it would bring me to tears. I literally didn’t know the lyrics or anything, but you can *feel* when they sing.
As for the song- the story is more about the video, not necessarily when the song was written. We don’t know and based on what RM has said, it was written about missing a friend or someone but also about the story. It can mean what you want but the video is definitely about the event you will learn about.
Have to add that this is just one of the examples of the amazing lyricism of RM. He’s a literally genius with lyrics and he does write something like more than 80% of their Korean lyrics. So many songs to learn about. For me, Zero O’Clock is another totally genius one.
And yeah getting into BTS like this, it’s a sign of an open heart and they really are a just a conduit of joy and positive energy, even when it’s about difficult topics. They are really special, all 7, just destined to be who they are.
This concert was one of BTS’s gifts to ARMY during the pandemic. They knew we needed them. And they need to perform for us too.

Luke, I can't tell you how much I look forward to your reactions. I discovered them mid 2021 and will never look back. I agree 100% they are truly special individuals. Omg this was so cute, they had me dancing and sing along to the three songs, the choice of songs sent e from being happy to sad and i went in a roller coaster of emotions.
DynAMIte had me singing and dancing along and i so wanted to be that vinyl record so badly.

I’m a nurse and it’s been a rough last two years, JM has been my source of comfort. I’m also a dancer so I’m addicted to JM’s live performances, fan cams and dance practices, my eyes are always glued to him. JM caught my eyes when BTS covered first generation idol group Shinwa’s 2002, Perfect Man in 2015. I would love to see your reaction for that performance.

BTS sang Spring Day to ARMY very often during the intense times of the pandemic. It's so amazing how any of their songs can have meanings that fit so many different lives and situations. Even when their world tour got canceled and they were upset, they got right back to helping people who were suffering, they way they do best. Dynamite was made to bring people joy. They released "BE" their most recent album to give comfort. The best way to describe that album is like their personal diary in music form, and its single Life Goes On is really something special 💜Now restrictions are starting to be lifted, so they released the song Permission to Dance and are tentatively trying to do live concerts again for the first time in years. The future's looking brighter now, and I'm very excited for you to experience all those songs! 💜
