    For your Zipper Neck, I would recommend using a plastic tooth zipper, especially if you live where it gets really cold (I used to live in Eagan MN). The metal zipper teeth/pull will hold the cold and not warm up. The plastic teeth do not. Also, the teeth in the plastic zippers usually match the zipper tape so that would not be an issue. You should be able to find either at a fabric store or the bigger craft stores.

    I use the same stitch markers as you do and for the same purposes. I recently also started using the lightbulb markers to mark off my row gauge. For example, if my row gauge is 38 rows =4 inches, I place a marker every 38 rows. That way I can easily check if my row gauge is consistent as I am knitting.
    Thank you for another wonderful year of knitting and learning with you. Roxanne. You are a treasure!

    I quite like toe up socks, particularly because I have a very high instep and can use a fleegle heel which is the best thing I have found to fit my foot. The Tipsy Toe looks very interesting!

    Thanks for sharing the various ways that you use stitch markers. I really enjoyed the project bags also. I feel inspired to make that and also liked the zipper neck. I had knit convertable mittens and when the top is removed they do pull a little. Next pair, I'll move the thumb over a bit. Another great video. Wishing you a very happy and healthy New Year Roxanne!

    Hi Roxanne. I love your project bags. That was one of my goals for this year that never materialized, no pun intended. Illness and loss were sadly a big part of this last year but I hope to make them this coming year. Also, I need to familiarize myself with my mom’s sewing machine and I’d like to take some classes too. Your zipper sweater and Royal sweater are stunning! I cannot wait to see them when they are finished. The zipper sweater is such a great idea for those walks at night! And the Royal sweater is a show stopper! Thanks for all the overhead explanations as well. Love the Tipsy socks too. Fun tidbits too. Wishing you and yours a happy holiday season and Happy New Year! Thank you for a year of wonderful tutorials and podcasts.❤️❤️

    Happy Holidays! I loved both Tidbits today and am jst about to watch the sewing machine vid. I also appreciated yur discussion of the liner gloves (am originally from Wisconsin), but especially that you explained a mistake that you made. If experts like you can make mistakes, I don't have to feel so bad about the ones I make. And your Technique videos have helped me figure out how to fix so many of them! Thank you and Happy New Year.

    I love making project bags for my knitting. I have made a few smaller bags for things like socks. They are square bags with a zipper top that also have boxed corners. I like the idea of a bigger drawstring bag for sweaters! I also like the idea of having everything in their own bags. I currently have a tote bag with all my projects in it, and it's a bit tangled up at the moment!

    Good news about the Royale pullover: it is available in ravelry again, I just bought it (or maybe you already told that and I missed it). It will probably take some time before I find the courage to start it, as I have a million plans already and I have no experience with twisted stitch cables.

      @RoxanneRichardson 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep, I misinterpreted the pattern page when I saw it available from one source, and then it said, "not available from one source." The designer hasn't been on Ravelry for 8 years, and her website is defunct, so pattern support might not be available, if needed.

    Lots of good information as always, especially the way you use stitch markers. For zippers I’ve used an online company called “Zipper Stop”. They have many widths and types of zippers in different colors and will customize the length on request.

      Ah, yes, Zipper Stop! I've ordered from them in the past, but I kept thinking I had ordered from YKK directly, and that wasn't right -- you can't order from YKK online -- which is why I ordered from WAWAK. Thanks for the reminder!

    I warmly recommend felted gloves, they really really can be made amazingly warm, can be totally windproof, you would rarely need liner gloves to complement...

    • @anciify
      @anciify 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I recently made several felted items, with different yarns and gauge, but each time the shrinkage was stitch-width-wise about -15%. and stitch-height-wise about -25%. I just put the knitted item in a washing machine with two heavy pairs of jeans in a hot (but not boiling, 60 C e.g.) washing temperature cycle. For me, felting in a washing machine works better than in a dryer, but it surely depends on your washer and drier.

    • @RoxanneRichardson
      @RoxanneRichardson 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Mittens tend to be warmer for me, but the liner gloves inside them allow me to take the mittens off, in case I need to do something that requires dexterity (such as dealing with picking up after a dog), or unlocking a door. We can get really cold weather here (-20F, with windchills even colder).

    • @anciify
      @anciify 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RoxanneRichardson Felted mittens over gloves is definitively the strongest combination, tested over centuries and still used by Scandinavians in extreme conditions.

    I love your Royale sweater. Perfect combination of travelling twisted stitches !!! Markers as self defense is a great way to go. It must be so difficult to correct mistakes in this fabric. I tend to use life lines (unwaxed, unflavored, dental floss) which I move every 10 rounds after a good look at my knit, and pictures. I don't know why, but progress pictures are usually my best way to catch mistakes, they tend to just stand out on pictures.. Have you tried double knitted mittens, I've knit a few pairs and they seem to be the best (not for driving) for walks in cold weather. Adventure Mittens by Lucy Neatby (I chose simpler colors). Lucy offers video support for this pattern.
