My Mom didn't have breastmilk and she was shamed SO much for it. But my brother and I are happy and healthy, growing up on formula! No one should be shamed for not being able to do it or not wanting to do it.
This makes no sense if you can’t do it or don’t want to then you shouldn’t be shamed some people get on my nerves and need to be slapped smh 🤦🏼♀️ Im sorry your mom had to go through that
Currently breastfeeding a three month old and can confirm the schedule is 100% accurate lmao They pretty much nailed this video, then comes the reality of actually breastfeeding and your nipples are possibly cracked/bleeding + you've been woken up for the third time in the night and forcing yourself not to sleep. Breastfeeding is hard, I couldn't breastfeed my first due to poor supply and the fact he cracked my nipple so much that half of it was scab so I bottle fed. That's when I got postpartum depression because everyone made me feel like my body wasn't doing what it was literally meant to do and I felt so horrible feeling like I couldn't provide for my baby so I tried dual feeding throughout the pain. But a couple weeks later he was pushing off and preferred the bottle only but holy cow was it easy after that. You get to have an actual schedule, only downside is the cost of all the formulae. If you want to bottle feed that's great If you want to breastfeed that's also great. Don't feel pressured or ashamed by others for something that'll be more comfortable for you. As long as your baby is fed, growing, and pooping rest ya mind!

I have not personally chest/breastfed but I do have some experience supporting someone who has and my advice is this: Bring them all of the water and snacks, do what you can so they can take naps, and if the other person is comfortable having their boobs out around you, don't get all squeamish on them if possible. I have had to hold a newborn's hand while they were latched, because they were so insistent on stuffing their little hand in with the nip...which doesn't allow for any real feeding to happen. At first you might feel a bit weird, but it's honestly really impressive and amazing to watch a human support another human with their own body. Mine was also ‘high needs’ so fed a lot, didn’t sleep much and needed a lot of stimulation 🙃 Also when they say breastfeeding shouldn’t hurt they don’t tell you about letdown pain which can feel like ant bites for about 30 secs after they start feeding and is totally normal! thank you for doing this. everyone needs to know how hard it is! and i would say it does hurt bc your back and neck get so sore. take care of your postpartum friends! i was so depressed while breastfeeding for 10 months.
I can attest that breastfeeding was not exclusively the magical experience it was made out to be. You are tired, you are leaking, you are always watching the clock , and if baby doesn't latch well you are in pain - like nipples bleeding don't wear a shirt or bra pain. On top of all that you are adjusting to your new family dynamic and caring for this new person who is completely dependent on you for everything. It can be so difficult, but looking into your baby's eyes makes it so worth it. Knowing that you made this baby, you are keeping that baby alive and happy... All of the struggle and sleepless nights are worth it. If you are struggling, please know that it gets better. It might not be right away, and you feeding journey may look really different than what you expected... But that's okay. Love yourself. Appreciate everything that you have done. And keep holding on. Sending love to you momma
They are missing the fact that they have clean the bottle and pump partes between feedings/ pump sessions. In one day of pump bottle feeding day I calculated that you clean 32 pieces everyday on top of regular dishes.
I really appreciate how informative this video was. Currently breastfeeding as I’m watching it. I’ve been breastfeeding my little one on demand for the last 18 months and still going strong but it’s chaotic to say the least. We’ve dealt with mastitis, blisters, tongue tie, food intolerances/allergies, etc. It’s insanely tiring but I still wouldn’t change a thing about it. It really is magical and horrific 😂
I second that! Your doing great 18 months is awesome I lasted about 7 months went back to work and wasn’t able to pump so my supply completely dried up. But those 7 months were very long and hard for me still proud of myself lol I didn’t think I’d make it that far.
I’m a mom of 3 just had a baby 2 months ago and I exclusively pump, I pump every 2-3 hours all day (trying to boost my milk supply) this was pretty accurate, lol luckily I have a pump that I can walk with so I can do chores , or feed my baby during pumping, it’s a lot. No matter how you choose to feed your baby it’s a lot lol a fed baby is a happy baby. I love these videos , many people are in complete shock after they have a baby so this is great information. 😊
I really appreciated this video and also believe there could have been more space to discuss the history and rhetoric of breast is best v formula fed babies. These mythologies are based in race and capitalism. I was offered formula without hesitation although my baby latched right away and was feeding well. This also came after I advocated for breastfeeding and lactation support.
Remember to always double check your phones I had mine unlocked and was moving and accidentally clicked unlike!! I absolutely love Jazzmyne and Lindsay ! So grateful for them in the world 🌍 💖
Breastfeeding is hard. My baby is 2 weeks and 4 days old, and I only breastfed for 3 days. He wouldn’t latch properly despite not having a lip or tongue tie, and my milk wouldn’t let down and come out. I tried pumping, breastfeeding, hand expressing… I only got drops after 30-45 minutes of trying to get milk out. He lost so much weight, I didn’t eat or sleep those 3 days, my anxiety and baby blues was awful. Since switching to formula, baby and I are so much happier and healthier. Breastfeeding felt amazing, the connection with my son, feeling that bond… but it truly is the hardest thing imo about postpartum
Oh my gosh yes. We tried SO freaking hard. We made it 5 weeks, and were supplementing with formula after less than 2. I was pumping all the freaking time. And then my supply literally disappeared completely in less than a day. Got over 4 ounces out at 8pm-ish, by 7am not a single drop. Tried for 3 more days but my boobs were done. I also got extremely strong nausea every time I had a let down. Formula saved our lives AND sanity. It was brutal emotionally, but the fact remains that formula did the job it needed to do for us and he's a completely fine 3 y old now. I'd heard people say breastfeeding can be hard. I had no idea. I thought I did but I didn't. It was soooo much harder than I ever expected
@@thayerwilliams905 me too! I had friends and family tell me how hard it was and I thought they were just saying that because they didn’t want to breastfeed. After going through it myself, I realized the true struggle that it is to breastfeed for some people. I wanted to be one of those moms who breastfed my son was 2 yo but unfortunately it didn’t work out that way, but I’m so thankful he’s healthy 💖
Breastfeeding is the most exhausting, challenging, and beautiful thing. I pumped/formula fed with my first and breastfed my second. Both experiences were great.
I love breastfeeding, but BOY it’s hard. My baby is 13 months and still going strong (although I do scheduled feedings now). I work 40 hours a week so I do still have to pump regularly
As a mom that’s breastfeeding for two years I would’ve liked to see them discussing the difficulties breastfeeding too like aversions/agitation, latch issues, mastitis, engorgement. And a random alarm that makes them cluster feed over the next hour or two to make it more accurate.
You two did so great! I've breastfeed before and it's such a rollercoaster with lack of sleep. I'm due to have my second baby on Monday and starfing my second breastfeeding journey.
the struggle is real (i have a 2 month old lol) you guys did well, it was accurate! BUT! its true, its a full time job and you have to wake up 3-4-5 times a night but its not a plastic baby who "sucks" your breast, its YOUR baby who makes cute noises while eating, thats make the whole thing bearable:))
Yes! It's so different with your real actual baby. You see their little happy face and little hand on your boob. It's such a bonding time. As moms we feel such an intense instinct to feed and soothe our babies. I hate it and love it all at once lol
I have been breastfeeding for almost 5 years now (3 years with oldest, 21 months with youngest) it is really difficult but it is such a great bonding time and I'm really going to miss it when my youngest stops.
I loved this video! I was a first time mom at 35. Went over due date, then had to have an unscheduled c-section. My husband only helped 5% of the time and I was the one getting up, breastfeeding, diapers, doing laundry, cooking, etc. Plus I was fighting postpartum depression. When I went back to work after maternity leave I had to use my breaks to breastfeed in my office, since my company didn't have a lactation room. So the office on the other sides could hear my pump and I frantically tried to play music on my computer to cover it. Most days I'd just cry. Plus I had to pay for both my pumps since insurance wouldn't cover them! I ended up having to stop breastfeeding after 11 months, since I got super sick. But we were close enough by then for my daughter to use regular milk, baby cereal, etc. to eat.
Also add in your body not feeling familiar, not being able to walk normally bc your abs are out of place, and the rollercoaster of emotions WHILE you’re trying to get your baby to breastfeed. And spilling milk on your clothes while you pump at work…
My daughter weaned herself off by four months which was so emotional for me, and it still is(she's nine months now), but watching the video reminds me of all the stress, of hungry I was all the time, plus how much I would sweat due to my signaling my baby to eat, and how sleepy I was. Also, I gave up on the breast pads; they broke me out, so I would walk around with a wet shirt 😂😂😂 no f’s given when you're a new mom
Ok but really it DOES hurt. Cracked nipples, latching issues, biting in older babies..... Once you get settled into it, no, it didnt hurt anymore but in the beginning it absolutely did and its common.
This was hilarious because it is SO TRUE! I’ve BFed 3 babies and this is relatable… trying to squeeze in “chores” in between endless feeds. 😆 Kuddos to Jaz for feeding her baby in the car, which seemed to be on the go! LMAO! The video really provided good information. I think the one thing I can think of that was missed was explaining the tickle from the letdown. But yes, support is so much better during these times. And you better believe I would cry sometimes in the middle of the night bc I was exhausted… but it is worth it :)
I LOVE all the breast milk facts they were giving! I’m currently breastfeeding my 8 month old and she just caught her first cold. Just knowing that my baby is getting just a little extra boost of goodness to fight off her cold is such a relief for me.
Oh man I felt this in my soul. I remember my first Christmas with a 4 month old and missing out on so much because of having to bf every 2 hours for 30-40 minutes….
I’m breastfeeding my 4th child currently. I’ve provided breastmilk for 7 babies total. This video is accurate! There really isn’t a lot of time between feeds and feeds really do last a while.
No,it does hurt, quite bad even if you and baby are doing everything right.I was crying because of pain for the first 3 weeks because my boobs weren't ready to be sucked by someone 24/7.And i went for the breastfeeding lectures and we were said that it hurts quite often and if someone is saying that if you do everything right it shouldn't hurt-don't believe them.I understand that someone is lucky enough and they don't feel pain or even discomfort but saying that it should't hurt is a lie. Then my boobs got used to it and pain went away and now it's totally fine.I just needed to mention it because future and new moms need to know that it is okay if this process hurts at the beginning and that it'nothing wrong with them :)
One key thing here is that because these lovely ladies aren't actually feeding a real baby, they aren't experiencing the hormonal changes that happen. So they basically only experienced the crappiest parts of the process and none of the happy bonding hormones that you hopefully have with feeding a real baby. Breastfeeding is amazing, but has been the hardest part of motherhood for both of my babies. The pain and cracked nipples in the beginning, mastitis, the crazy schedule, the lack of sleep, the pumping. Thank God it gets easier with time. My second is 5 months and it's fairly smooth sailing with nursing him, I just hate pumping at work. I simultaneously hate and love breastfeeding, it's so hard but it's also the sweetest bonding experience and I was really sad when my daughter weaned herself at 18 months. I feel incredibly fortunate that I had two babies who latched well, I produce well and I respond well to a pump.
I'm currently 6 months pregnant and planning on breastfeeding when the baby gets here. I dont see how new moms do it. I know it'll be a lot, but totally worth it in the end.
I’m sitting here with my five year old awake at 3:30am cause she felt like it lol… you guys are so funny… this newborn time goes by so quickly…. It’s a lot of work but so worth it….
Currently have an eight week old and we very quickly got our dishwasher fixed, bought a rumba, and bought a self cleaning litter box, and thrifted baby carrier (as we are currently blessed to be able to do so) because there was no way any of that was going to get done with our work from home schedules and newborn demands
Lindsay's comment about the "ultimate birth control video" is so true. My mother used to tell me about what it really was to be a mother, which terrified me as a child. Telling your kids the truth about parenthood is much better than teaching abstinence. Just saying...
I literally have my 3 month attached my to boob as I’m watching this…honestly this is pretty accurate lol I loved it! Also, they could have at least given Lindsay a double pump 😂
I would definitely be a stay-at-home mom for at minimum the first 5 years because WHEW imagine having to go back to work and still having to do this. This makes me appreciate parents more.
I must of breastfed my kids all wrong because damn, it hurt so much in the beginning. My nipples were bloody and raw until they toughened up. I also suffered from PPD which made everything even worse.
My son is 2yrs old & I never breastfed. I felt that it would take a toll on me mentally so I didn’t do it. Everyone who breastfeeds is really a warrior
Im breastfeeding 2 boys. My oldest is 2 and my youngest is 4 months. I nurse on demand with the infant and only when I have time with my older son. I love that my kids hardly ever get sick because of the anti bodies but the time demands are a lot. When they were newborns they didn’t latch. I had to pump every feed while they screamed. Then use a nipple shield for 3-10 weeks. I couldn’t afford to formula feed I had to make it work and I did. Not easy but I love that I did it. Makes me feel really accomplished for sticking it out.
Was a truly horrible time- couldn’t get my son to latch properly, needed to use a shield and I didn’t have a large enough milk supply, so my baby was fed half with my Milk and half with formula… I’ve never cried so much in my life. I felt sooo inadequate, like I just couldn’t measure up as a mother. I ended up breastfeeding for a miserably long 6 months before finally switching fully to formula. While I know that milk is healthier for baby, but he is happy and well-fed, and I no longer feel bad about myself. Best decision I ever made
I never tasted my breast milk but I found it smelled like condensed milk. What shocked me the most was the way it sprayed out like a shower head rather than like a baby bottle like I expected. I found it really convenient and a lot easier than messing about with steralising bottles and making up formula. Weird situation when baby moved onto solids. My partner was up making baby porridge while i had a long lie and brought the bowl into me so I could squirt some milk into the oats. He first attempted to milk me while I slept but that was just too weird
I had a love hate relationship with breastfeeding. I started leaking at 4 months pregnant so had to wear the nursing pads from then on, breastfed for 9 months and was still producing milk for an entire year after.... and now one boob is noticeably larger than the other lol and no breast pumps would work for me so strictly by the boob
Watching this while pumping at 5:30 am for my baby in NICU. The schedule I have is crazy and my baby isn’t even home yet 😅 As far as the DMER, I get horrible anxiety rushes when my milk lets down. It’s a horrible feeling. Also setting an alarm to wake up to pump is so difficult because it’s not like I’m waking up to my hungry baby, I’m waking up to a damn machine. And don’t forget about washing the pump parts after every use and sanitizing them every 24 hours 😂 I feel like I’m going crazy! I can’t wait until my baby comes home ❤
I get really nervous about breast feeding because it's something I've never done before. But leaky boob is definitely my least favorite way to wake up especially when I forget to grab my nursing pads before going to bed 😬😂

"it looks like you are not doing anything else that day" that got me :DDDD no, you dont do anything else EVERYDAY lol
Great job! My baby is in college and I still remember. Trying to remember how I got through it all. Guess I better thank my husband and friends.
I breastfeed and pump for my son he’s currently 8 months, as a working mama it can be difficult, but it’s a great journey. My goal is 1 year.
It is so nice to see this! I enjoyed my time of breastfeeding my 5 babies, with one having been adopted....but it was definitely a full time job.
Now I know why in certain Indian households, new mothers would temporarily relocate to their parents’ house. You do not want to deal with everything.
We love a bestie who provides caffeine and peace.
Right?! They make it sound so easy.
Agreed.
"How does it feel?!" Like someone is sucking on your nipple ...but their lips are effing razor blades.
You two did so great! I've breastfeed before and it's such a rollercoaster with lack of sleep. I'm due to have my second baby on Monday and starfing my second breastfeeding journey.
Watched while doing my nighttime pump! Can confirm: breastfeeding is no joke! And yes it shouldn’t be painful but sometimes it really is!!
I couldn't wait to stop, but I remember crying my eyes out the last time I nursed my baby
I can’t even count how many times I’ve fallen asleep while feeding my babies. It happens! Hahaha
the struggle is real (i have a 2 month old lol) you guys did well, it was accurate! BUT! its true, its a full time job and you have to wake up 3-4-5 times a night but its not a plastic baby who "sucks" your breast, its YOUR baby who makes cute noises while eating, thats make the whole thing bearable:))
Same here!
But we were close enough by then for my daughter to use regular milk, baby cereal, etc. to eat.
Okay but why did their outfits match so well in the intro?? Like down to hair color. I love their friendship 💜
Jazz mine is litterally my favorite she’s so funny and joyful and just always puts a smile on my face
Ok but really it DOES hurt. Cracked nipples, latching issues, biting in older babies.....
Once you get settled into it, no, it didnt hurt anymore but in the beginning it absolutely did and its common.
OMG LINDSAY AND JAZZ’S HAIR
"Ultimate birth control video." LOL I CANNOT
"bored yet consumed," is about right. plus lonely, emotional, uncomfortable,, blissed out, scared, exhausted...and somehow all worth it ❤️
And they didn't even have to change and burp too that adds even more time lol they did great
Also, free help with breastfeeding and pumping was a life saver! It kept me on my path!
I love Hannah, the world's Okayest Mom!!
Brings back some crazy memories lol. I did this with twins, by myself, while working full time lol. 😂🤦🏻♀️😵💫
Literally pumping as I watch this. 😂 You learn to Ignore the noise
“I had boba last night” GASP
That killed me lol
I'm actually pumping when I came across this video. I am dieing! XD This makes me feel not alone.
“Bored but consumed” definitely describes the 4th trimester well for me!
I feel seen 🥰🥰
Hahaha when I had my second child my two year old used to say “moooo” along with the sound the pump would make 🤣🤣
it was so funny when jazzmyne said parent hood i cracked up laughing lmao
Lindsay*s reaction to the milky * it's sweet
“This is the most birth control video” that’s the most iconic thing I have ever heard
Currently have an eight week old and we very quickly got our dishwasher fixed, bought a rumba, and bought a self cleaning litter box, and thrifted baby carrier (as we are currently blessed to be able to do so) because there was no way any of that was going to get done with our work from home schedules and newborn demands
I love all of your videos, As/Is! Greetings and hugs from Romania.
I literally only watch when a video is uploaded with this duo!
Such an eye-opener - especially how relentless it can be.
Lactation consultants help y’all don’t be afraid to ask for help. My LC helped me with latching bc that was really hard for me at first
Lindsay's comment about the "ultimate birth control video" is so true.
As someone who has been breastfeeding for over 12 months, I get it...I DO🥴
I would definitely be a stay-at-home mom for at minimum the first 5 years because WHEW imagine having to go back to work and still having to do this.
This is so accurate currently feel like I’m only breastfeeding trying to do other things in between is very hard but we are getting there
Im breastfeeding 2 boys.
Loving jazz's hair
Lindsey summed it up... this video is like the best advocate for contraception 😅
Fed is best. There's no right or wrong between breast or formula. If your baby is fed, your doing it right.
Best decision I ever made
you two need to get a robot baby and be parents for 24 hours
I never tasted my breast milk but I found it smelled like condensed milk. What shocked me the most was the way it sprayed out like a shower head rather than like a baby bottle like I expected.
I found it really convenient and a lot easier than messing about with steralising bottles and making up formula. Weird situation when baby moved onto solids. My partner was up making baby porridge while i had a long lie and brought the bowl into me so I could squirt some milk into the oats. He first attempted to milk me while I slept but that was just too weird
I really see that Jazzmyne would really be one good and cool mom, while Lindsay be the aunt that will be the kid's partner in crime haha
Public bodyfeeding is legal in all 50 states. (Some states still have cover laws. Some do not.)
JAZZMYNE and K8 are just so adorable ♥️#QueerCoupleGoals
Just saying it could be interesting if their alarms were sounds of babies crying
I get really nervous about breast feeding because it's something I've never done before. But leaky boob is definitely my least favorite way to wake up especially when I forget to grab my nursing pads before going to bed 😬😂
