I love stuff like this! Kinda like my Favorite Character from the Expanse show Drummer! In the books she was just a small side character but because the actress had "Chemistry with literally everyone" they boosted her role. And this smiley guy deserves every attention he gets! I had an appointment and ended up missing the interview. This actor is incredible, he manages to deliver a great performance with very few lines, that's really cool.
He portrayed so much especially in the challenge scene, I saw this TH-cam detective break down how he even called the other creatures off with a little head tilt, I think people subconsciously understand this and that’s where this actors skill lies
I will say the reason I started watching this show alone was just the poster of Jamie behind Harold (Boyd)! I saw that and was like omg I gotta check this out! So Jamie’s part is definitely a big part of the reason it’s so creepy. Great actor. Hope to see him do more!
It's not that Jamie's smile is creepy, it's just more obvious due to his nice cheekbones, therefore more contradictory when playing a monster. So when it's a real smile off camera, it's an extra obvious smile, easy to see due to his great cheekbones, & when he's acting, the obviousness of his smile (cheekbones raised are easy to see) makes the *contradiction of smiling and scaring someone more prevalent* than it would with others who have a less noticeable smile.
It's not the smile itself, it's his eyebrows that enhance the otherworldy creepy feeling, as they don't match the purpose of smile that we as humans know. This is wonderful for entire series to have such unique person in cast.
He needs to have his very own character, like a newly created Horror Movie villain. Great storyline that sticks for generations To go down in history like a “Freddy” “Jason” “Michael Myers” etc 👏🏽🙌🏽🔥

Although based on the episode descriptions, I think the characters over confidence is going to screw them, as they invited and carried the thing inside a building with Talisman, therefore perhaps trapping it in there as it can't cross the barrier ether way and maybe like vampires can't enter unless invited in with that enclosed talisman space ...
I think the creatures are all pretty much two-dimensional "scary monsters" and that as episodes progress further the really intriguing baddies will come into play. And if all these things were ever meant to do was shamble around and occasionally gut people, then naturally when it's time for a big scene with one of *them* finally feeling some hurt, you want to use the one that everyone has been the most interested in.

So I don't see that the series would through away a good monster that have taking very limited screen time, with lots of unnecessary screen time, to show him like playing on the bus, if it wasn't to shown more about him and his monster's personality. As I think each one has bit of their old personality and remembrance of being alive, hence while they seem to have props or items they keep with them, why would milkman monster still be carry milk for 50-ish years, especially when no one is drinking monster milk... Or "Timeless" where we got the "Christmas Special" episode where they wrapped loose ends change time and set into the motions of the very things that set the whole series into play. Flynn you got to see your family one last time.. Big Pressing F for the hero that wasn't known until the end.

(Yknow since they never run?) Definitely an icon of the show now. I was actually pretty bummed about him in season 2. Was hoping he'd be a central antagonist.

I saw the same thing on the credits and wondered if it is a clue as well. I think it could be but also there is a trend w/ youtube videos being called "Nightmare Fuel" and think this could possible be in that same realm as not being a nightmare but referenced as scary enough to cause a nightmare.

I hope season 4 brings more of Smiley and the rest of the monster because that's what I loved about the show. season 3 was more of a human drama.
