Good to hear that you get a better financial deal and brew experience in terms of mash and boil temps with this in Australia! I should think if this was the price elsewhere then these would get more attention from people. This is also why myself and others on TH-cam mentioned the build quality for the price, naturally this has no impact on performance but people expect more for more.

Stass. Great review. I purchased the G70 (reasonably happy with the price in Australia) and done 2 x 25 litre brew and I was quite happy with the result. I did have temperature variations Mash and Mash out, but GF pointed out to me that it possibly was a result of the Volume as I was only using a 5 kg grain bill. I did not use the hop filter for the very reason you stated and just put plenty of water to dilute and let it gravitate out and put the pump on at the finish. I extensively used the G30 with Beersmith and the Grainfather App and had not problems in the water conversions. I had problems with the BS to GF water conversion at the start, but only in regard to the sparge volume and it seemed like 4% which was the wort shrinkage, but GF assured me that they do take that into account, in their cold water calculations. I have now been able to get the sparge volume to within about 200 ml of sparge volume (Mash water okay) Sometimes spot on. This was by putting a factor of .23 L/Kg in the sparge absorption area on the equipment profile in the GF. In BS I change the Grain absorption in options/advance to .7669 which equates to .80 for the GF.
Brad uses fl oz/oz so it got to be converted.
Also changing the Mash ration to 2.7. All the rest of the figures between BS and GF are the same numbers. (Losses - Boil Off, Mas Tun deadspace) Except the .23 L/Kg in the sparge is not put in BS. As always with a new system you need to tweak some of the figures. (Boil Off, Losses etc). Looking forward to a 50 litre batch. The only improvement I had done so far is added a Analogue (Round Thermometer) to the Wort Chiller

Great review mate! You said here that you thought boil times were equivalent to the G30, but maybe not as vigorous as you’d like in the larger batch. Just wondering if this was on standard 240v? Be good to know I can avoid 15amp if possible

I know I'm not using grainfathers but I avoid running pumps during boil all the time, I havent had a problem because I've never done it :) , but I imagined that it would, it happened to me once on my 3V so never did it again. If I need to to run hot water through anything I use the HLT, I just make sure theres at least 5-10L in it and its already 80c by the time I sparge, so I just use that, I usually do pump it up to 90+ but the 80c would probably do it I guess. Great video Stass! A little finesse just so it works hahaha love it , too pricey for me unfortunately! :( Cheers mate!

Yep - I know it's not the only way to do it, but it's what I do cos it's what I've done in the past.

    Beautiful mate !
I run 240v 50amp over here on mine and I think to run this size electric brew 120v would be a long day here in the US
    Love your stuff mate 🍻

Had it sent to me from Grainfather. If you email them I'm sure they'd try to help.

Sound like the need a vortex plate. We have them in the dairy industry with our milk lift pump.
