- Started 9th on the grid. Not too bad for 1st time at the circuit and missing 1 practice session due to clutch issues. Slowly made a few places up on the first few laps.
Got it wrong when Marcel Maasmann (#24) re-passed me on start of Lap 3. Didn't expect him to brake 25 metres earlier than normal, I tried to let him back passed but it seemed he then had mechanical problem. I did go find him after race and apologise for running into him.
Afterwards I had some clean track in front and found myself a bit more settled than at the start and slowly caught up with Lee Harpham (#5). After that it was a quiet race and finished 3rd overall but 15 seconds behind the winner.
Raced there in the Late 80s got a 3rd from 17th, they gave prize money and flowers 💐anyway fantastic vid nice memories

Sam, you are amazing on the brakes. First time at the track, you look excellent - I really enjoyed this one. I was surprised how #24 just flat parked on you in T1 (i believe it was) - it was a nice gesture that you gave him the place back, but (from what I could see) you hit him because, after a bit of a rough entry to the main straight, he got by you at the end and just STOPPED ... It's very fortunate you both didn't end up in a massive pile. It was kind of like one of those insurance scams - stop in front of someone abruptly to cheat them out of insurance $$$.
