Only 97 more civs before we get to play CIV CIV
I for 1 find this clever
@@josephkennedy8962correct! I for 1
@@josephkennedy8962 V 5 find it clever too!
Release date: 2898. I hope they time it right so that it's not competing with Half-Life 3.
Augustus approves
unit models are definitely the best they've ever looked in a civ game. more variety and care into making them, that's great.
definitly some CIV 5 hints evolved. that's great
who cares? youre not sitting whole game in max zoom. id rather have more than 10 civilizations.
@@radek4634 A good compromise would have been to subdivide the hexes into sub hexes for city building. Therefore once you click on a hex it would zoom in and show off all the detail while at the same time not taking up half the map just for handful of cities. The scale of this game seems even more wonky than previous versions.
@@radek4634 You have more than 10 civs
With the cities being more sprawled out, I’m hoping this means the maps will be a little larger.
Yes that is what made Civ 6 TSL earth maps meh compared to 5
Yeah; the civ series has a bit of a problem with scale, and Civ 6's district system kind of accentuated it. If you have a huge Earth map, you could fit whole countries in one tile, so seeing a single city spread out over twenty or so tiles really feels wrong.
I know it would melt my CPU, but I'd love to see a Civ game with a realistically scaled Earth. At the moment, I don't know if I could fit more than 10 cities into Europe on a huge Earth map.
the scale is inconsistent, and always has been, not real way around that when you have to see units and city details but your pov is of a satellite or god.
Real-world maps aside, I like seeing sprawling countryside.
There are much less cities! That are just bigger, so no need to bigger maps.
The focus on culture variation is great, you used to have to wait years for modders to come up with all this unit variation, the fact this in being released in at launch is awesome. The models look fantastic !
@TomMonteath really? This seems like such a small thing to was resources on. Let the modders do it so the minority that care can have it. Staring at my units is the least I care about.
@@Berstich I get that, but it assumes that's an either/or situation (false dilemma). I'm pretty sure their art developers are only assigned to be working on graphics, from what I've seen they are doing great. But I'd agree, if you absolutely must prioritise, gameplay and balance has to come out on top
Cant wait until ursa gets to stop drawing!
Damn, you hate it's art that bad? Jezz... chill!
What I want is to wake up on Feb 11th, 2025 to see an Ursa meme on Reddit with the title Day 1 of drawing badly until Civ VIII is released!
@@deanbrandt4356 Maybe drawing until next expansion haha
I hope once it comes out, he transitions into a "drawing Civ comics every other day, or whenever I feel like it because it's fun" routine. Because I know it's probably pretty hard to come up with something new every day and wouldn't expect him to continue, but I would really hope that's not the end of his comics.
I wish Ursa draw me like one of his French girls
The graphics look really beautiful and give a miniature set like feel
I thought no new Civ could make me as excited as I was for CIV VI when it was anounced years ago, I remember going crazy and watching every week the new leader anouncements with excitement, but after watching this video, oh my god, this is truly amazing, it looks so detailed and perfect!
Coming out hot with a bloodborne reference, these are real gamers and that’s why civ 7 is going to be amazing.
People ask "What the big deal" and I'm like "You don't GET IT. I've known Civ longer than I've known my wife."
"Honey we have Civ5 and Civ6 at home."
"BUT THIS IS DIFFERENT"
That's really true!
33:35 units look so good .Just woow. This is how I imagined Medieval 3 total war would look like;]
I hope we can zoom in without a mod as far as in the videos to enjoy every detail ... 😍

Unit models are awesome, and so many!
31 Civs at launch might seem high, but you use 3 every game. I understand it's a lot of work to make each civ with so many unique units and buildings, but I hope we get more soon.
As the cities are more spread out, it would be cool if fully capturing a city required controlling/ annexing all its sectors (tiles). I think this would make the process of conquering a city feel more immersive, rewarding, and epic in scale.
They mentioned that each city tile only has spaces for 2 biuldings. And walls are a biulding that takes up one of those spaces. Which means each city tile would need its own walls. And a conqueror has to knock down all walls.. so.. in short.. most likely have to take down every defended city tile.
please add a camera mode to walk through the cities omg

This is neither the point of the game, and this is neither an AAA studio
I think it’s safe to say this is the best developer studio in the business… this really is a passion project for each and every one of the employees. It doesn’t feel sold or forced at all, it’s SO refreshing to hear from developers that have a real passion for their game and manage to keep the main goal in mind… to make a game that is FUN. I can’t wait for Civ7 man I already know I’m going to put thousands of hours into this game 🎉
Khmer Civilization is really amzing. Thanks CIV for bring it to life!
The only thing that concerns me with the graphics, is that hills can be more easily differentiated from plains. In Civ VI, this wasn't always the case.
Hills are no longer a terrain type. There's rocky terrain hexes, and there's cliffs along borders between hexes.
Thats what i love in Civilization. Its amazaing attention to details. Cant wait to play this game...
Would love a levantine civ! Like philistines, canaanites, phoenicia, to name a few
I could see the Phoenicians with a Carthage focus.
@millennialsecularandauthri3338 that's not a bad idea! It would also provide a north Africa civ. Two birds with one stone
I live how every individual unit is completely random...cant wait to see the post modern advanced units.
Very excited by the progress and communication Firaxis is showing. The response to player concerns has been very promising. One thing I am concerned about it city sprawl, and covering too much of the map in cities and towns. Gaining adjency bonuses are great, but I hope the city/town building aspects don't overcrowd the maps.
It really is an amazing looking game.
This looks absolutely fantastic
If they don’t get rid of Denuvo, then this is going to have to be the first Civ game I won’t buy since I started playing it back in Civ3.
The bloodborne comment was truly thought provoking lmao
38:40 The commander of egypt was nice but the commander of that south american type Civ is absolutely amazing.
Should be Aztecs, they look really cool
Northern America actually
Planet Alpha Centauri after a scientific victory is all I want 🚀 that’s truly one more turn 🙏
Any news on xcom 3
I would really like for the multiplayer cap to be raised to at least 7 for the first 2 era's. Pushing for 8 🙏🏽
They said that they will make that happen but not with release
They have said they will do that, but they wanted to ensure the stability at launch, before expanding.
"As an archaeologist 💁🏻♀️✨"
Hopefully we'll see the Republic of Venice again

@s1nd3rr0z3 well, if it's the age of exploration, then Venice is a big part of it
@@CONSTANTINEXI63 The Age of Exploration killed Venice, since Portugal found its own way to the spice trade of India and the West Indies.. and did battle with Venice's middle man, the Muslims in the Indian Ocean. So Venice Folded in that Age.
@samsmith2635 the age of exploration as in the medieval and renaissance
For anyone else who started thinking this was just another big art showcase while a lot of us are foaming at the mouth for more game play details, don't worry, they accidentally stumbled across a few game play details. Don't get me twisted, I deeply respect the artists and freely acknowledge the huge impact they have on the game...I would just like to know more about the pressing big questions that are only being slow drip, teased to us before stopping to admire some of the finer details. Everyone has different priorities though I guess.
36:00 i hate that.
I dont want zero-animations to be the default. I dont want teleporting units.
I want to see them move into position as they attack.
Thanks for throwing this up, I was stuck in the merch Line for 5 hours. 😂
I really want natural wonders to disappear or be destroyed if the nearby cities don't take care of them by maintaining them, not exposing or protecting them to global warming or tourists.
looks fantastic, very excited / scared for my life
I would like to hear how they intend to handle TSL maps, i would like to see more map options as well.
It looks really good. I only hope the gameplay is as fun as the visuals are popping.

37:38 "Until I flank you" 💀
A new PC will be needed! 7 looks to be a more enjoyable experience than 6. I really enjoy better & better graphics.
You need 4K 32” monitor to see all those units and buildings as it was mean to be show’n!
😂
But the game itself runs on 10 years old hand held Nitendo Switch console. Your phone is several times faster than that! So your PC should be ok.
I really wish the leaders were facing ME (the player) as opposed to facing sideways, awkwardly interacting with the other leader...just feels wrong. Also, it felt more engaging and realistic in Civ 5 with the epic leader backdrops where the world was alive, felt like I was actually there.
I mean we can tell portions of the game are worked on by different teams so this is definitely a failure from the leader screen guys. But most likely the dev team had to meet deadlines for presentations such as this so they ran with it anyway. Got to sell the game somehow. Though I agree it’s a thousand steps back from the traditional Civ leader screen since Civ 1. Only in 7 now that we see this crap. Probably a sneaky move from one of the new hires in the team and the OGs didn’t check it, and now we have this humankind-like screen, which loses the Civ branding. Money is more impt it seems for the team than to delay presentations to rectify it in the first place
@@theenvoy6601I wonder if they've been getting any direct feedback from others regarding this (since their initial reveals) and are willing to make some changes before launch. I can't imagine this being a huge effort to rectify something that seems so critical to the experience...

Austria and Czechia need to be available at launch!
Unlikely. There aren't that many civs left to be announced and I can think of quite a few that would probably take precedence.
Get that man a Tim Tam
Whats a Tim Tam??
I demand non-optional world governments that force the players to deindustrialize in the modern age while the AI pursue advanced tech.
How many Civilizations will be there in this Civilization 7 game?
They say in the video, there will be 31 at launch (10 per Age, plus the Shawnee for the Exploration Age) and presumably there will be more coming post-launch
was looking at my steam library, between 5 and 6 i have over 7000 hours
32:20 that's not south American! it's Aztec or mesoamerican!
nowadays Ipads are powerful enough to run pc graphics, i wish they will port it also for portability

@DavidGonzalez-jw2re HAHAHA that is so sad! Stop being cheap and support the studio. Why wait 5 years to save a little money?...
20:00 this is VERY "Age of Empires", which is a very very good thing, artstyle wise.
I do hope they implement Endless Legend's "chaotic tile shape" sometime for the landscape to look more natural.
Given everything else that classic game inspired in Civ6 and Civ7, i hope they bring that along as well.

I agree, i dont understand how they think that is a good idea...
It's really interesting because I'm so happily surprised about it. Having eg. England or France as civ in the beginning of human history seems more and more odd to me the more I think about it how it was in previous games. I'm excited about this age change what is historically accurate.

Your loss mate. The hysteria around Denuvo is an overblown hysteria borne out of pirating circles. If you have any kind of anti-cheat on your system for an online game you already have software running at root-level access on your OS. Denuvo is no different.

Graphics look good! Civ 6 looks good too. Gameplay looks identical to Civ 6 for the most part. Don't @ me I have consumed all released Civ 7 news. They made a bunch of board game level changes and zero foundational changes.
just remove denuvo already
The city sprawl is awful and completely unrealistic. We've only urbanized around 3% of the Earth's available land. Civ 6 and Civ 7 are making Earth look like Coruscant and I despise it. That along with the weird thing where your civilization changes but your leader stays the same is fully backwards. It should be the civ that stays the same and what leadership direction you choose affects the ages. Other than that though, I do like a lot of the changes, but when the fundamental core of the game is so laughably bad I don't know how I'll enjoy it. At least give us an option for leaders to start with their historic civs. Seeing Ben Franklin start as the leader of Egypt and become the leader of Mongolia is too stupid to take seriously.
Stay with Civ 5 (the best), wait a couple of years since Civ 7 release for DLC's, other corrections, ballancing ect. Than you can try it with your brave heart, man😉😄
It looks great for a console game. What are the inherent limitations that were designed into the game to be compatible across multiple platforms ? Will the PC release feel limited in scope and scale because of the hardware deficiencies of consoles that the game was designed for ? What will the map size be compared to previous games and is there a reason for having a limit to number of cities per civ ? Would it have worked to subdivide hexes for city building so that you can still micro-manage city building without taking up so much space on the map ? You guys put in a lot of effort with making this game but it feels more like a spin-off rather than a true successor of the Civ franchise. The title should be called Civ City.
Random idea- when starting a game would it make more sense to start with no bonuses, as in blank slate, and therefore no cultural or political baggage for all civs. After founding a city and meeting some threshold of either time, city size or city number, would it make more sense to then choose what civ you would like to play as that would be more appropriate for the environment that your civ inhabits which would reinforce/ maximize the bonuses ?
Galaxy is the one that’s yapping what a rude thing to say that the devs like yapping, you’re the one asking questions and want them on the panel??
Yapping is not an insult lol, it's modern slang and is meant to be endearing.

@@ellie6091 I'm not old I just have taste and self respect.
hmm I am just wondering if "31 Civs" claim is a lie... as they said that they are splitting Civs into those 3 "Ages" which probably means that you can only chose like 10-11 Civs to start with and then when you get to Age of Exploration you can chose from 10 new ones and then in Modern Age again you can chose from 10. So if I am not wrong you will be able to only start from a selection of 10-11 Civs which does not look soo impressive as 31... but we will see...
Your math is mostly right from what we know. However, I don't think it is too disingenuous of them to say since each of those civs have their own art assets, game play mechanics, and units. Even if you force yourself to view civ 7 as only having 10 civs, each of those civs would have three times the amount of content as previous civ games, and that is before considering the amount of combinations of mixing up your potential cultures as you progress. So, when compared to civ 6's 19 civs at launch, it is an easy argument that 7 still comes out well ahead.
It's not a lie. Each civ is even more fleshed out than previously. Yes that means you do only get to choose between 10 at the start of the game at launch but each of them has multiple paths and can be combined with different leaders.
Yeah it is a total lie. No one thinks of it as 30 civs.
