I could not believe it when Bolt walked up to her in the pasture like that!! Being able to be handled is big enough as it is - but he's coming to her. After two days! Even you must have been at least a little bit surprised? What an absolute sweetheart this pony turned out to be. And so cute! It's so completely wonderful that you were able to transform his life like this.

Reminds me of my daughter's sect A mare. We bought her direct from the breeder in Wales "Cui stud" at 18 months old.
The pony was the cutest thing ever but man was she fiesty!!!!
We took it slowly but by bit until she became an absolute baby.
Come the day we started to break her for riding it was so easy it took one day from saddle and bridle on to a rider being walk around the school. My daughter won so many things with her her bedroom was full of rosettes. The lady who we got to do the training said she was one of the best ever. Sadly daughters grow up quick and we had to pass her on to the next little girl.
The horse we got then was a Dutch warmblood 11 years old and the most beautiful thing on four legs a real picture and very talented show jumper. We kept her untill last year when she was put to sleep aged 32.
Wonderful horse and we all miss her terribly.

Steve, you are the missing link between horses and humans and the horses are so relieved to discover there is a language for them to communicate with humans so they are understood. them, so they can live in harmony and, without fear. You are the nut and washer to Bolt’s screw so now he’s firm and secure and set for life. Bless you.

The abiding lesson for me in all these lovely video lessons, is to relax, to not make eye contact, and keep cheerful, chatty tone of voice at all times . I don't have any young ones now, but two Arabians, and a couple of old rescue Kaimanawa mares that were never handled much when they were young.. These videos have kept me on course, and now they are kindly halter-broke.

How quickly they learn the difference between pressure and not pressure. I have been doing PNH since 1993 and I am still blown away by the speed of the horse's perceptions and speed of learning. So when I fail to create a certain correct learning situation later in their training, I always sit back immediately and look at what I'm not doing right or where I'm going wrong. Because if I had it all exactly right, the horse would learn it in a heartbeat. I've trained many horses over the years, but I can still learn from a wonderful instructor like yourself.
And congrats on the wedding anniversary. 40yrs is not to be sneezed at.

Such a relaxed pony at the end. Was such a joy to watch. Hey Steve and Tania, another 'Gold' tutorial of introducing "halter lead" to an anxious sassy pony. Advance and retreat with correct timing is paramount to give this little pony a chance of a better life with humans. Steve you have the sensitivity to release in the split second allowing horses to create new pathways in their brain and accept the relationship with the 'alpha' human to begin. I am always in awe of you when I watch your tutorials. p.s. Happy 40 year Anniversary guys, you both must have got married when you were 2 😃😘😘

What self-discipline it takes to release the horse in a split second after they yield! Just the hand-eye-coordination alone for developing that quick release is something I would hope comes quickly, with practice. Fabulous demo❣️

You truly are AMAZING! You make it look so easy and it’s not easy at all. I worry about you eventually getting a rotator cuff injury with these horses pulling on your arm. You are both amazing people all around. ❤️🙏🏻

This pony was difficult. It's amazing how your slow, gentle method brought success with him. Wonderful to see his owner being able to take over where you left off. What a great instructional video! And HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

You are truly AMAZING Steven~! What a blessing you are to horses world wide! So happy to see you get so many views. I went to visit a friend's horse training farm, and tried some of your methods on a couple of ponies. They work!

I love what you do Steve, I have learned so much from you. I don't have horses anymore but I wish I had known all this when I was younger in my horse days. Thank you for being one of the best horsemanship resources on the internet!

I'm impressed this pony is finally able to calm inspite of the anxiety-ridden woman's non stop yakking. But she had such a wonderful outcome at the end. Beautiful pony!

I’ve commented here many times as a newer sub & please forgive me as non horse person.
The first few minutes of this video my heart was racing. I really enjoy horses but still am very fearful of them.
What a transformation! The pic of Bolt at the end was gorgeous. Bolt will have a great life now ❤

I have watched every one of your videos and learn heaps from them but this was the best one of all. It was the clearest example of hooking on and exactly when to release pressure. The change in the pony was incredible. You guys do Fantastic work. 😊
