When I first heard those other-worldly, space-like sounds after finishing a dramatic mission, I genuinely got shivers. I played The Division 2 first but I’m currently playing the first instalment with my friend. The snow adds so much to New York & many people do still play this by the way. Heck yeah. Division 2 is a solid game (it's my main squeeze) but it doesn't hold a candle to the first Division when it comes to atmosphere and savagery.
I have little over 6k hours on Div 1 and less than 100 on Div 2, and you're right, there are still players on The Division 1, I play on PC, and most nights we get full servers. I really wish they did the 3 installment based on the first wave, so that way, we get to know their story as well as going back to N.Y. In winter.

I wish there were more tracks like these, and that they played all the time when free roaming or in the dark zone. When I play this via bluetooth on my turtle beach while I wonder in the dark zone’s heavy fog and brutal blizzards, it’s a whole different ballgame. The environment becomes so much more interesting and engaging to explore, and it’s a very immersive experience.
The division has one of the most realistic and immersive atmospheres and map design and attention to detail was amazing. Many many times i found myself standing somewhere just in awe admiring the absolute astonishing beautiful map they created in the division. Thank you very much❤️
The feeling I get is indescribable when I'm wondering around New York with this playing. I can't get my head over how bustling and alive this city once was, now millions of people gone, the streets filled with skeleton cars and empty shops.
Leila Smith the “Passive Trauma Effect” as I call it, yes. Seeing a spot housing a lively frequency of human activity now deserted and dead feels very, very wrong. You wonder and imagine what it must have looked like when everything was going to hell, before it went to hell. And you soak in all the emotions of doing so, and all the devastation felt there. It’s truly mesmerizing.

Something about this game, the atmosphere was great, the setting, the music, it just worked.... Shame the gameplay quickly got dull as fuck though, the early E3 presentation made it out to be like a persistent open map type thing where you can run into different players anywhere, but that was instead condensed into the Dark Zone with the rest of the game being just your typical co-op looter shooter with dumb bullet sponge enemies.
Gotta admit the sheer amount of detail in this game is stunning. Its mesmerizing with the ambient music, at night with the fog and snow blowing and Christmas lights glowing. If you have the PC to put the settings at max with 1440p or 4k its really stunning. Great graphics for 2016.
Very early r6 and the division on launch will always have the most unique and special atmospheres largely due to the music but also the time when they were both released. Times were just better and this gives a feeling of those days
Its 2024 and still love this game is one of my best remind me of gd old times the funny thing is it happened before covid. Love the atmosphere, they shouldn’t make part 2 they should stick with the original and bring more expansions. 🙌🏻
This game gave us a preview of how New York and the entire world is going to end up after COVID gets severely lethal, out of control and kills off a huge percentage of human life on Earth.
They should make division in NYC in winter again with midtown bronx brooklyn wallstreet. But less apocalyptic more like reclaiming the streets from criminals.

I wish Ubisoft just focused on The Division 1 and didn't make a sequel, they should have just added to it.
I hear you. They should have done it the way Fortnite does it to this day. Expanding the map. It's 2022 and I still miss it to this day.
