Growing up, celebrating the holidays was mandatory. My sister and I never questioned it. It was just... how it was. Once we got older and we learned that we had a choice, we started to celebrate things less, or at least on a smaller scale, because we *had* ability to make that choice. I have a mixed bag of family. I have great parents. A great uncle, trash alcoholic aunt and super narcissistic bordering on psychopath brother who I just can't stand for more than a few days. So yeah. Not super excited but I do still enjoy the Holiday. Unfortunately I don't have a better half so this lot is all I have.

I love this asmr because for me it is so accurate. I had christmas ruined for me and I have a hard time looking forward to it and I get more anxious when it does come because I am always stuck going somewhere I do not really want to with toxic people or literally spending it all alone seeing other people having good christmas’ when I am walking down the street. Holidays are just not something I like. Because I either get a miserable one or none at all and have to hear about other people’s good holiday moments. Same with birthdays for me barely anyone ever remembers it so I just go about my day as it never happened.
I've grown up in a big and close family and the holidays (Christmas especially) are my favorite time of year to spend with them. So, I wouldn't know exactly how the listener feels, but I can understand up to some level. My former significant other's family life wasn't the best and to say that any holiday in general for them was a bummer was an understatement. My family has never been close both of my parents are extremely toxic and my dad's side of the family has never been close. not only that but I've always felt like a burden, grew up in poverty and always felt like it was a requirement to give gifts even if giving those gifts ment you couldn't afford clothing or other important stuff like food.
