Gotta be honest, BOTH Jumbo and Hobby seem extremely underwhelming. I always like to buy something as it releases, but I have no urge to buy either right now. Might just be me, but hard to justify right now with the lack of hits overall
I bought 1 hobby. Enough to get a good start on a base set. I'll be doing blasters of series 1 beyond that. Saving my budget for chrome and stadium club 24
Yeah, I was excited for this drop and haven’t seen a box yet that made me think these are worth more than $45 per hobby and $75 for a jumbo. Just feels flat. I am sure others will buy them.
I picked up a few hanger boxes at Walmart as the shelf was being stocked. They were pretty decent. Pulled a Nolan Arenado HFA, a blue border Zach Gelof rookie and a yellow parallel Henry Davis rookie. The yellow border just doesn’t seem to work for me, but I’ll take it anyway. Overall I’m digging this years design. I’ll stick with hangers this year.
Went to my LCS today and thought long and hard about the Jumbo vs 2 Hobby. I went with 2 Hobby at 90 each and granted I probably got a little lucky, but the return was about the same when compared to some of your Jumbo boxes I watched. Between the two, the biggest cards were 1989 Black Bo Jackson Autograph /99, Major League Materials Ke'Bryan Hayes Black /199, Silver Pack Mojo Jasson Dominguez RC, Silver Pack Mojo Luis Matos RC Auto /299, Shane Bieber Orange Ice /299, George Kirby Gold /2024, and a Blue Parrallel of the Acuna 1st 40/70 Season "Greatest Hits" insert. Then a bunch of the blueprint inserts, some rainbow foils, 2 Ely's and 4 Jasson Dominguez base as well. So to me, it seems either way you're getting nearly the same between the two formats outside of the guarantee 3 hits in a jumbo. My LCS has a case of the blaster's so gonna grab a few of those tomorrow and see how they pan out. Probably not gonna buy anymore hobby or Jumbo...it was underwhelming to say the least. I think they must have printed a ton of this stuff or we have maybe a reverse situation from last years series 1 and blasters/hangers/megas are going to be the way to go.
I think Topps 2024 is awesome Mr. Jabs. It reminds me of the 1986 Topps and the 1981 Fleer had a baby together. Have a good Monday to you and the rest of the week to you, Peace to you Mr. Jabs.
Geez full price for the chance at one numbered card with some inserts. Topps is going the wrong way. Believe it or not, the print run is smaller than last year and it feels like less hits anyway.... terrible
I finally got my hobby box and boy is this a let down. It feels like this is one of those instances where retail may just be better. I wound up with a Zack Gelof auto, but other than that...meh. I didn't get a single #'d card in the entire box. I just find that hard to fathom. 24 packs and not a single one. Oh well. I'm glad I only bought 1 hobby box because it just doesn't feel like the return was there. If I had wound up with a relic card as the hit I would have been very angry considering the price.
As a fellow teacher, I have no idea how you do it, Jabs. How can you have the energy to stay up until 2am and then wake up to teach a full day? hahaha.
Hmmm so I bought 2 blasters, a hobby box and a mega box today from Topps. Maybe pick up a jumbo down the road. Not seeing many numbered cards with all the new videos uploaded. Kind of underwhelming.
From watching this stuff get opened so far, idk. Doesn't seem like the value is there to be paying what Topps is asking, especially jumbo. This rookie class is also very hit or miss with Elly fizzling out and Dominguez on the IL after 8 games into his career. At least it looks like print runs are trending down which is a good.
@jabsfamily hey I've watched a lot of your videos they are great. So question in one of the hanger boxes I pulled a non numbered CJ Stroud lets play ball card I see a bunch on eBay but really nothing like I have any idea where I should look to see where I can find a value on it
@@dylanrichey8332personally I collect the entire rookie class sets every year so for me the best chance of doing that quickly is the jumbo box. The auto and relics are bonuses for me
Mike Trout USED TO BE a great player. Now he hardly ever sees the field because of injuries. He's not getting any younger either. So I think his cards are going to drop in value soon.
Gotta be honest, BOTH Jumbo and Hobby seem extremely underwhelming. I always like to buy something as it releases, but I have no urge to buy either right now. Might just be me, but hard to justify right now with the lack of hits overall
I agree I think we’re gonna realize that 2022 rookie checklist overall will hold up much better
I bought 1 hobby. Enough to get a good start on a base set. I'll be doing blasters of series 1 beyond that. Saving my budget for chrome and stadium club 24
@@0832-z2bdude…what are you rambling about 😂
Yeah, I was excited for this drop and haven’t seen a box yet that made me think these are worth more than $45 per hobby and $75 for a jumbo. Just feels flat. I am sure others will buy them.
Both hobby formats seem light on value
Sweet Trout, my LCS has Hobby for $80 and a Jumbo for $155 👍
Was in a case break of hobby boxes here in Australia and our hit rate was 5 autos out of 12 boxes.

Did I miss the silver pack for the second Hobby Box???
Nope. It wasn’t in there
Crazy!!! Watched another box opening, a jumbo, and no silver packs there either... everyone be sure to film your box opening!
@@wilda32 Insane! What’s going on Topps?
@@jrbartz75 they are too busy counting all their money.
Not there at all! That sucks
Any idea on what 2024 topps has the best value? I’m looking for a great box under $150

Went to target a few days ago, got 3 hangers and got a Nolan Arenado home field advantage case hit
No Silver Pack in the 2nd Box! So many missing silver packs in both formats! Beware!
I like the looks of the cards but wasn't overwhelmed with the hits
Lots of value coming in Series II I expect

Totally agree jabs the HFA cards look so much better then previous years!!!
The team border color match looks sick ngl

Love that Kodai senga case hit card
Thanks for the video Jabs! Always appreciated! 🙏
Check Barnes and Noble, the one in my area got hangers, blasters and mega boxes of series 1
Kodai is a huge PC guy for me! Beautiful card!
This set is awesome! I love it!

That De La Cruz card just has an epic look to it!
Certainly happy with that HFA! But between the hobby and jumbo, I’d go with jumbo!
Can’t wait for number on the countdown
Happy 35th anniversary Jabs!
The card design is going to be sweet when chrome comes out.
As a fellow teacher, I have no idea how you do it, Jabs. How can you have the energy to stay up until 2am and then wake up to teach a full day? hahaha.
I pulled 2 Autos in the first hobby box I opened not kidding either
Love the design, but will be passing on hobby. I like my guaranteed autos ✍️
Base print runs are down by 300,000. Just under 900,000 per base player
But the checklist is 20 cards bigger. More than makes up for it.
@@uaaronvalentine9645 AND less cards in each box.
I just saw there’s a limit of 52 per card of cards with a tiny Kevin hart on them?
You’re a Bucs fan? Subscribed
Jumbo is better than Hobby imho, nice pulls too.
I hope you and Sofia had a wonderful Valentine’s Day together
Thanks Steve!
Any SSP chase cards like last year
Jumbo and blasters for me. More cards. Better hits.
Waiting for Uniontown big box stores to get stocked ......
Are you posting the video from last Saturday?
I posted it on Saturday from the card show
Less cards, higher price, and little color equals skip for me. I do like design but I will just buy cards I want
Retail Base is the best
I like the ely rookie card
I’ll wait for chrome

I heard hangers and monster boxes better odds for parallels.
Yeah, I am only going to buy hangers. Way better bang for your buck in terms of number of cards and paralells.

Any redemption in this set
To whoever selected you slow down...I would like to see you have more time for yourself. Don't know how you hit school after the late nights
I love the design will for sure be getting a jumbo when prices dip, but player worn relics? And 1 in 7 hobbies gets an auto. That’s no good
I'd take no auto vs getting a no name auto.
@@dylanrichey8332personally I collect the entire rookie class sets every year so for me the best chance of doing that quickly is the jumbo box. The auto and relics are bonuses for me
Anyone ripped the Fanatics exclusive 2024 series one?
Just opened a hobby and it was awful…would rather open 3 giant boxes than one jumbo or 2 hobby
although I think it's one of the nicest looking Topps sets in a long time it really seems like a panini chance of making your money back...SMH
Retail rippers!
Okay, the amount of times that you start talking about a random player and then you pull his card like 2 seconds later is uncanny…
I think they should do only patches in blasters and only keep auto per hobby
Fanatics Is a cancer to the card industry i know a lot will disagree with me but to me Fanatics stinks and need to loose there grip on the industry
I think they are putting better quality vs quantity. These look nicer than the last few years
Considering every year they print more and more I think this is wrong.
Mike Trout USED TO BE a great player. Now he hardly ever sees the field because of injuries. He's not getting any younger either. So I think his cards are going to drop in value soon.
Imagine if the Angels invested in a good team around him during his prime. At least give the guy a chance to be on a good team.
2024 may be the year that baseball cards decline. Absolute trash. The design is awful, and the hits are scarce!
what a crap product
First
No Silver Pack in the second box? That sucks. 🤔❓
