So many people do not realize that the disease of addiction can stem from childhood trauma. I am so very proud of Candance! She has overcome so much and is so strong. I am so happy to see that she is happy and doing good things for herself.

That’s the blessing Amy... we DO have resources. You have to get creative with your recovery... the only difference is we aren’t in physical meetings... you still have everything else to do... steps, online mtgs, calling, reading, etc. and keeping close to your sponsor... stay connected and we don’t use no matter what... not easy but simple. I’ve got 48 years now and if I can do it? You can do it❤️🙋‼️😘😘😘I love you...

I love how despite it all you say it all with a happy funny, "i dont care". tone at times. I process pain similarly, its definetly not funny nor that you dont care (atleast for me) , but helps to deal with stuff. Best wishes for you Candace, from Chile!
    Hope you doing better!

CPS are nasty people. They don't care about the children. All they are there for is the money. They destroy families. They don't care if they split the family apart. They are uncaring as hell.

Candace, I found your story very honest and heartwarming and it's truly an accomplishment of a lifetime to get freed from addiction and that whole "lifestyle". Nevertheless, I feel a strong need to share with you something even more amazing, believe it or not.
I suppose the first thing you have to realize is that you are a sinner. Now, to addicts like you and me that usually isn't something we need a lot of convincing of, since we've been there and seen what we are capable of. A lot of people, if not most, tend to think of themselves as "good" people at the end of the day, saying things like: "I believe that my good deeds will outweigh the bad" and "Well I'm no Hitler atleast!", Whereas God's word makes it blatantly clear in Romans 3:10-12, when it says: "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one."
To anyone who doubts whether or not they really are sinners, I would challenge you to get a King James Bible, open it close to the beginning of it; At Exodus Chapter 20 and read on down to see how many of those commandments you've actually kept in your life? I for one have broken pretty much ALL of them. The reason it's so important for you to realize you're a sinner is that, Jesus Christ tells us in Luke 5:32: "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." - So, if you're a self righteous, pious person or just simply deceived into thinking that "all people are good deep down"; Jesus Christ is not calling you.
Once you do accept and realize you are a sinner against God it opens your heart to The Gospel. A sinner that has suffered for their own sinful lusts and behaviors is willing to hear God's word when it is offering help to their problem. I can attest to this personally, being an opioid addict from a teen and on through my whole adulthood. God promises to take away our sin. He promises to make everyone that gets saved and born again a completely NEW CREATURE, all new thoughts, wants, dreams and goals etc. To this also I can attest to and testify of personally, since it has happened to me.
How? It's simple: You have to be sorrowful over your sin and your wicked ways, repent and put your faith on God; Believing that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried and rose again on the third day and lives forevermore. Amen! - Jesus Christ, God in the flesh came here on earth and let himself be tempted in every way, just as we are, yet never once sinned! He was Perfect and Holy in every way, however, he willingly gave himself to be horribly killed by getting nailed to a wooden cross in a place called Calvary, in Israel. He did all this and face all that immense suffering just because of you; He took on himself the punishment and suffering which WE as SINNERS deserve, so that by him we could be saved and cleansed from sin!
I'll leave with a few verses from the word of God, directly relating to what was talked about above: "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." - Hebrews 4:15 (Talking of Jesus Christ)
and: "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." - Romans 5:8

This is a very powerful testimony, but I don't understand how you think God took your sister, when your sister made a choice to do drugs and she overdosed.. no disrespect but why does God get the blame, for decisions that we make as human beings. I guess I don't understand why God is being blamed for the decisions that your sister made it was her will to do drugs and as a result of that she overdosed. God didn't make her overdose. Please do not think that I'm attacking you I just don't understand how people can blame God for decisions that we make as an act of I will to do something, and then we can be so quick to blame God for something he didn't do. It is Satan who comes to kill steal and destroy not God!
