Ah Vierne! A brilliant composer yet a deeply troubled man. Frankly I think he composed his grandest works to shake his own deep depression. Yet so much did he give us, even in his profound personal sense of loss. Just listen to his legato and you will understand. In 1990, I had the privilege of singing the Vierne Messe Solonelle at Notre Dame de Paris for choir and 2 organs, for a Sunday Solemn High Mass. It was the peak experience of my life.
@@beautyinsound Dear Mr.McVeigh, thanks ever so much for your gift! Would it be possible, please, that you play in a while Elfes of Joseph Bonnet (strange piece of organ), Fantaisie sur le chant de Noël Adeste Fideles of Jules Grison who was organist of the Reims cathedral, Marche solennelle d'Alphonse Mailly? If possible.Warm regards.
While I do have a special place in my heart for Tournemire, Vierne is absolutely my hands-down favorite! My professor on my Masters degree noted my particular enthusiasm for “fiery” organ works. He also noted how that attribute shown through on my playing of the more majestic and powerful hymns. And yes, Tutti is ALWAYS called for on works of this caliber!
A brilliant way to celebrate Vierne's 154th birthday with outstanding performances on some awesome real organs, as well as an inspiring sample set (intrigued by the action noise on the St Ouen instrument - very percussive!). Your videography - and in particular, the audio quality - is never less than fabulous: bravo! (I just wish you'd also slipped in 'Berceuse' in addition to these fireworks to showcase the tenderness as well as the virtuosity!)

What a collection to treasure, dear Richard! A minor correction is needed: the timestamp for the Symphony No. 3 Final is incorrect. As entered, it falls just when the Carillon is getting cranked up!!
I can't disagree with the selection i find it just a shame the opening two movements of the first symphony are always overlooked. The Prelude and Fugue are very powerful and seem to be rarely played. Still wonderful playing and thanks for sharing.
Snap! I learned the organ while at school back in the 1990s (but sadly, barely since), and am still a bit 'haunted' by the opening movement of the first Symphonie, and the many things it taught me about finger-substitution - and the growing crescendo and subsiding diminuendo around which the whole piece is built.
Beautiful cathedral and music. Humans are a weird and wonderful species. We can build stunningly beautiful churches and also find many ways of killing and harming each other 🫢
Louis Vierne - Mein absoluter Lieblings-Orgelkomponist! Danke!

Wow! Bravo! I'll return to this again and again. Thank you for all your efforts in sharing your talents and passion with us.
Masterful performances. Thanks tor putting this together.
Wonderful playing again as usual. And thank you for playing some in those pink and blue interesting socks!!
Merveilleuse musique de Vierne superbement interprétée dans les somptueuses églises d'Angleterre.
Merci!

Excellent selection for a Tuesday evening. Thanks
Bravo. Magnificent music and musicianship.

Parabéns! 💖💖💖💖
Thank you for the proper pedal phrasing. John Scott and I do the same thing. Beautiful playing.
A thrilling collection!!!! Thanks Richard!!!! I’ve always been a fan of the amazing Finale from 1… but this shows his many fiery sides. Love it!
Bravo!❤❤❤❤❤

Great stuff. My personal favourites include the Carillon de Longpont, Berceuse and Lied + Naiades
Your fingers just glide over the keyboard! Beautiful playing 😁 Thank you❤! I´m starting to learn this(trying to get over the finger cramping 😬😆)
Had to put on my parka. That music gave me chills, too!
Satisfying evidence that socks can deliver great articulation and reliability 😃
but not any socks😅
Wow. Just wow. I have nothing more intelligent to say.

Carillon de Westminster is still my favorite.
It’s a classic!
Very impressive, thanks to all players! Is the Cavaille-Coll from the Carillon the Composite from Sesquialtera organs?

Fixed 😊
Ones of these days, you have to pick up the finale from Symphony 5.

Thats some fancy footwork on the Final Symphony No. 6. You could have been a tap dancer on a river boat! I liked the first piece you played the best.
Every time I’ve played it my shoe lace has come undone in that final section!
Beautiful cathedral and music.
