Aloha, love your channel and all the islands!!! Saw your Kuilei place segment, what do you think of this as an investment property since it won’t be ready for a few years? Mahalo
I did this process 7 years ago. It was quite easy. I shipped it matson. Scheduled the date and followed everything they said and drove it to Oakland and 3 weeks later I picked it up in Sand island.
Just got a quote for a Toyota van Seattle to Honolulu for $2,500. Oddly enough a friend did Maui to San Diego for a late model Volvo sedan for $1,200 a year ago. Prices are changing and competitive. Gotta research online then be prepared for aggressive online and phone contacts after. There are lots of transport brokers along the West Coast and in the islands. You might find a San Diego broker with referrals and better prices for the Bay area or vice versa. Gotta check a bunch out. They do not necessarily have to be located in your loading and/or destination city. I always used Young Brothers inter island though.
My two cents about Eva retirees is the convenience of those alley garages, small yards and easy access into the modern houses is a big plus. The suburban style accessibility to services and shopping cannot be beat . Queen's West is a great regional hospital with geriatric programs and as ward winning designation as such. I think it is a bit underrated as a retirement community myself. Thank you too for the quiet claim land grab info. As a senior haoli lady I personally have no issue describing it as a purposeful post colonial injustice that may be legal but certainly incredibly unethical in my opinion. Just because someone can do something does not mean it is the ethical thing to do. Money may talk but character is revealed in greed. Not being political here, just keeping it real as an observant human being.
We tryna keep Big Island remote and kamaaina and kanaka still living and tryna thrive here. Too much city life people tryna move here, over-crowding, low housing inventory and higher prices is destroying that balance…. Keʻei where Mahi’s ex-ohana is from the prices for single family homes and lots is easily topping at $1m for homes built in the 40’s and 50’s. How is kamaainaʻs gonna afford that? Hard li dat.

Can you talk about the pros and cons about leasehold properties?
