- As part of our monthly Dodgers report cards series, we explored how our opinions of the team have changed or evolved over the course of the 2024 season.
Producer Kevin brought us to the thin Dodgers infield that is in need of serious help but is in a sort of holding pattern with the expected returns of Mookie Betts and Max Muncy. What is the Dodgers infield outlook and what does the the eventual returns of Betts and Muncy along with the emergence of Miguel Rojas mean for Gavin Lux down the road? We discuss!

Gavin Lux is not supposed to be a power hitter! Not everyone needs to be a power hitter.
FO told us he would hit 15-20 homers per year.
He's not supposed to strike out every ab either....he's supposed to be a good defensive player but isn't either

Sorry guys but, imo, you really fumbled this one.
1. Lux's injury was a 3x1 (torn ACl, LCL and hamstring). That type of injury won't heal at a 100% until 2025, so it simply makes no sense to expect him having an avg .270+ (as it was absurd to expect 2021 Belli be the 2020 Belli) and kinda shortsighted.
2. Even more so when you don´t take into consideration the added (mental) pressure of losing the SS because the YIPS.
3. He´s one of the best Dodgers with RISP.
4. His june stats are pretty good, so if you're willing to give that to CT3 then you should give it also to Lux.
5. Might be me misreading this, but, Scott, it seems you're pinning this on Lux and his Yips. He obviously didn't want those and they didn't HAD to move Mookie (that bad call was on Dave or the FO).
6. No every single player needs to have power, that's why they struggle many times, because they're used to depend on the slug.
7. To banish him to the bench without a good and frequent amount of AB's it's only going to tax him big. For that matter they should trade him instead of f'ing whatever carreer he can have (as they're kinda doing with many "old" rookies in the minors).

Lux is hitting much better too. The Dodgers have been scoring much better since Mookie got hurt. It is what it is.
@@f430ferrari5 You do know that Lux has more than double the at bats than Taylor?? HUGE DIFFERENCE. Lux - 229 Taylor - 114 at bats.
If Mookie and Max come back and produce at a level close to their career norms, the lineup looks instantly better. But currently... it leaves a whole lot to be desired.
2020 Dodgers are much better than the 2024 Dodgers because there was way more depth on the 2020 team. This year’s team has a very inconsistent offense because it is easily shut down by any starter it seems.
If they're "EASILY" shut down by "ANY" starter, the howcome the have 53 wins?.
Lux's approach to hitting is all wrong. He'll never be a home run hitter, yet, his batting stance and the manner in which he holds the bat seems to suggest he thinks he is. He should choke up on the bat, get in a crouched position, like Pete Rose, and hit line-drives. I'm sorry to say it, but I don't think he'll figure it out.
Lux does JUST good enough to keep his job. At best Lux will be a 0 WAR guy. That's fine on most teams, but not the heavily injured dodgers, who are hit or miss, n need some pop and plus WAR at of our 9th hole!
The Gavin Lux experiment IS OVER! I think Lux is already traded now. Why else did we get Biggio, and y did we get Treyo years? Lol
Both infield depth guys. Think about it. Lux is gone! Probably getting Kukuchi from Jay's

There's zerp reason why Lux should be in the Major Leagues. Lux sucks.
Friedman is stubborn so he wont admit he was wrong...and hes been wrong alot on players..the ws teams were neds doing..Friedman is a fraud

I think Guggenheim is just hoping odds are one of these rosters are gonna click eventually, and they will. We're just going to have sit n enjoy the 100+ wins every year, and we'll grab a ring or two..... Eventually

@Sammy_Boy_Smith Its also their style of play. Friedman hasnt learned from the past 2 playoff exists. We need to be more than 1 dimensional on offense. You shut down the power on the Dodgers and they cant manufacture a run.
Yesterday at least they tried, Rojas bunting over Pages.
Roberts should of first let Pages swipe a bag and then bunt him to third. Pop out to the outfield scores him. But hey, at least it was start. Hopefully they practice small ball and implement it here and there
I feel Friedman and his staff do a great job at finding outliers that can settle into role player spots, but when it comes to the drafting talent side of things, the superstars just haven't been there.
I think somewhere in the episode this came from or the stream from the day before we said the only position player hit the Dodgers have had is Will Smith. That's tough.
So fraud might be strong but he definitely might be getting too much credit for LA's success.
