However, you are still quite skeptical and concerned that this alien organism is living rent-free in your head, seemingly able to peek through your memories at will. You feel somewhat lucky that all she really wants to do is flirt and make meals for you. After a brief conversation, you go to work.

To answer, I just do a lot of reading, as well as listening to music and watching some nice tv shows or movies. And I've been writing for myself for roughly ten years now, so I've gotten some experience as to what feels nice to listen to for me. (as well as ideas that really don't pass muster for one reason or another.)
As for my ideas, they aren't original in the slightest, though I do thank you for the compliments. I just took ideas that existed, and either tweaked them, shattered them and twisted them around, or rotate them in such a way as to be pleasing to myself. (Dreamweaver is a perfect example of this)
