I'm Tyco HO scale, myself, but love watching any scale racing. The slot world seems divided about guard rails and I understand wanting to keep the skill level accurate by not having them. For your races, having novice racers, I think you would have benefited by having them. They add a nice visual element, too, especially when using walls (more marketing area), rather than actual rails. My setups will have them, but that's me. Anyway, great videos and I'll be watching more!
I can't wait to skip TH-cam ads, yet I've just basically binge-watched two 10 minute adverts for Shadow Foam back to back, useful and clever marketing.
Having invested heavily (and I mean Heavily) in Carrara Slot cars and trackage. I now wish that I had seen this video first. I built a large layout (8" X 16") on a solid platform that I have on pullys to elivate it to the celing in my warehouse. Now I want to incorporate the Shadow Foam material for the layout much the way that you have done here for your Scalextric lay out. I will be contacting you to see who is the supplier here in California for your product(s). Very good use for the foam and tool box inserts. Good job ! !
Two things: I'm sure Nathan's time was 23 seconds and 930 milliseconds (milli = 1/1000) and secondly now that you have an epic track you must do a genuine epic 24 hour race!
Be interesting to know what the overall weight of your track was including the foam... working on a retractable slot car track... hopefully look forward to your answer seems like a good material to work with...
Love the build. Time well spent,.. do have two queries.. I see folks used different cars, did all car have magnatraction? I suggest Nathan won because he filmed everyone else racing and learn from their mistakes.
I used to find Scalextric frustrating because cars were always COMING OFF !!! To get a good time here it looks like the trick is .... don't come off the track!
@@Studio23Media well, yes, but cars seem to come off so frequently. i guess I've never reached a point of having a feel for keeping them on the track. Not enough latitude for me, I guess!
Great video. Came across the in algorithm due to scalextric going in my attic and I’m the sort of annal tidy guy that’s going to be buying shadow foams for all sorts, starting with scalextric support for bridges, tunnels etc as the scalextric solution is a bit rubbish as you can see
Man that takes me back I had a couple different tracks and used to watch Speed racer and I had a yellow sports car like ( Racer X) and I did little electronic adjustments to the car and screwed around with the electric components of the car and
Doesn't seem like you would have used all the track from five kits, unless those kit tracks are rally short (see what I did there?). I would have liked to see a larger course (although this one was pretty decent). Also, I feel you limited yourselves by embedding your circuit into the foam (but I understand this incorporates your product into the design more) because you may want to create a new course for next time, and the subsurface would need to be completely replaced. I also understand that the size of the course was limited by your portable tables, but I still would have liked to see more course laid out, with more straights for some top speed fun. I would also have liked to see how well it broke down and stored away after. All things considered, though, great project. Had fun watching you make it and race.
As i had these a a child.. building the track and setting up things... after 15 minutes I was bored with them! So ... this video as much as you put work in the building that is interesting . Boring sorry...
you should do a "portable" Christmas train around a tree setup, including buildings and tunnels. that would be awesome and perfect for the season!
Sounds great!
Did you not get any fencing/guard rails in the sets you bought? They woiuld have helper for the raised sections of track.
I bought some ear plugs for the music, really helped
didn't want to lose any of the skill needed to stay on the track!
You could totally bring this product into the scale/ hobby RC world. The possibilities are endless
Mini Z has entered the chat lol.
Nice track on a small space - also good advertising never heard of shadow foam before
.... plus ..... should be expenses tax deductible!!
Never heard of the, before either and no idea why this recommended to me but I’m glad it was tbh lol

Yes I agree Great idea to keep the cars going No hold ups and no having to run round to retrack them

Glad you enjoyed our Scalextric build! We did an EVEN BIGGER ONE here: th-cam.com/video/363hgOq5iPE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lAaHrSTCkXfXL8RB

What a great race ! Long time since I played on a scalextric track, forgotten how much fun they are. Most enjoyable video.
Always welcome to come down and put a time up on our scoreboard!
Thanks, reminded me of my H.O. track when I was a kid.
thank you , had never heard of shadow foam , good bit of fun ! you might want to try afx track !

We have a Scalextric, only discovered Carrara today on a review. I used to create Scalextric in the late 60s, always been a fan. Take care in CA.

Ive just done a scalextric track setup in the garage, for the grandkids to play with at Xmas, 56 years, after i got my first track
Fun but hundredths of a second not milliseconds!
Fantastic entertainment, thank you 👍👍👍
Great Build, Love that Race Track
Thanks Richard, got any scalextric at home?
The boss gets to put everyone else off by chasing them with a cop car? LoL!
Gotta make things interesting! What would you suggest?
@@ShadowFoam Doing it blindfolded.
@@gerrabath funny you should say that, we've had that idea for a future video!
@@ShadowFoamUncanny.
This is brilliant, thank you so much.
Anything sports should work along the lines of the Shadow Foam Grand Prix, mini golf, table tennis, soccer, etc.
Great build and great fun. Well done 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Alastair :)
Ah yea! Shadow Foam Grom Pree!!
Enjoy the video?
Runner ups get tea with King Charles 😂
Hopefully by then he gets a bigger table 😅
That was so much fun! Loved it!
Brilliant guys well done 👍
Should link this video in the end of the first one so it’s easy to find with a click, awesome track dude
Awesomeness!
Thanks!
Adding another level of straights wouldn't be as horrible as you think.

Good stuff but please research 1080p60 for recording content like this.
Love the build.
Time well spent,..
do have two queries..

Nathan is remaining hush on that comment 🤐
maybe they aren't all the same. but, the setup i had as a kid, could change direction by switching polarity.
Never tried that, now that's a great excuse to have a play with it again to test that out 🤔
EXCELLENT !!
Thanks mate! Have you seen our updated Scalextric build?

Well done excellent race

That's the challenge. You have to slow down for the corners, just like in real cars.

That's epic!🤣 I hope it's an annual event! 😁✌️
Perhaps with a bigger board!
@@ShadowFoam Now that's a plan
I really enjoed this video :D
Cheers Massimo! Have you subscribed? We have some corkers in the pipeline!
How about creating a computer program to control the corners when sending a car round the track so it doesn't fall off them ?
That’s well outside my skill set, but if anyone from scalextric is watching, get on that as that’s a great idea!
Do you know that the lap counters you have installed, also count the fastest lap ?
I do now! 😅
nice build.. now upgrade it to the digital track and cars :)

pitfalls of working on a busy industrial estate I'm afraid mate!
Now I remember why I didn't keep my race track like this one , IT SUCKED A$$ . They always seem to fly off the track 👎
