- I hope you're not sober at your next campfire shindig, but I do hope this video helps you wow your friends and family when you play Tool's Sober on your acoustic guitar. Also, today I discovered that you can't look at the word TOOL for too long without it ceasing to look like a word.

Drop the high E string to D as well and it will both sound better and then doesn’t need to be muted. Great video!
Much love and respect from türkiye Ryan
30 days sober today, decided to learn playing sober, thanks for all the lessons and everything
I have been needlessly making this song harder than it needs to be for decades! Thanks for another fantastic lesson!
This! 🤣👏🏻✊🏻
woot!
That acoustic you got there has some serious mojo in that tuning! harmonics in spades
elizabeth the taylor :)
I haven't watched the video yet, but thanks for this. Any Tool lesson deserves props from me.
thanks friend
I love how you describe chords and licks and stuff. Lessons are usually dry and boring but you make it fun to just watch the lesson before grabbing the guitar. Also, as excellently as you play, your chill, casual conversation makes it feel like no big deal, dude. Just keep doing what you’re doing. You rock, man. Also Tool? Yes!
I love the campfire tutorials. Can't wait for campfire season this year.
I'm ready for spring.
Love all your videos Ryan! But judging by how popular this video is compared to many of your other ones (which are awesome by the way) I’d say you have a strong guitar playing contingent of the Tool army here…I play a lot of Tool stuff but would love to see more campfire versions, if such a thing is even possible! Keep up the stellar work my man 👌
thanks my man!
How about posting a video of you playing the entire song? The lesson was unbelievably simple to follow. It’s more of a struggle to match the beauty of your strings. Incredibly, incredible brother.
You’ve outdone yourself brother … thanks for this one and many others 🤘
thanks for the boost BD :)
Dude! The "lesson" starting at 8:40 is the best explanation of power chords I've seen!
I never understood what a "fifth" was (or a third, a fourth, etc.)🤔🤨 It's so clear and simple now.
And now I understand a power chord isn't a shape, but a root and fifth(s) -- I GET IT!
THANK YOU!
Woo hoo!!
I love hearing different perspectives from different peoples guitar journeys, for me it’s always been a shape and not so much the theory aspect of it. I learned the theory of it later on (about 10 years ago) but even to this day I use it more as a base shape just like I do to bar chords.. I just do the root note, and that’s how I go about it.. I add either a major or minor shape depending on where I’m doing the root, or depending on the type of song I just play the 2 note (root and 5th with everything else muted) to make the song happen. Again all depending on the application 🤷🏼♂️
This dude did
it! He finally did it 🤣
:)
This is one of my favorite addiction, and post addiction songs. It will be the next song I learn. Tyvm.
I didn’t know I needed a camp fire version, but now I know I did! Sweet!
:)
Gonna need a playthrough.
Best acoustic video lesson period. Thank you!!! 🤘🏻
aw thanks FF
I didn't know I'd been waiting more than half my life for this. Thank you!
:)!
This was both informative and entertaining. Like if Ned Flanders had charisma and guitar skills. Subscribed.

Only on this channel do you hear “Tool” and “campfire” in the same sentence.

@@RyanLendt I told you not to tell
Anyone about my idea for a TH-cam channel !
Oh yes, I like this. Looking forward to learning this. Cheers Ryan
cheers pal
Bro, you're my spirit animal.

Love you Ryan! In a Jesus whistle kind of way. I am an older beginner and some lessons seem to connect in my guitar journey. Thank you!

🤣🤣 Campfire TooL... absolutely brilliant... more please...
thanks mate!
Great video! I'd love to see some other Tool songs given the campfire treatment! It would make it a lot easier on my acoustic. H or 4 degrees would be cool.
i'll put that in my gray matter
Awesome video once again mate, can't wait to belt this out on my maton 🇦🇺💪
haha poor unsuspecting nation
That one cord got me my hands won’t possibly do that 😂
I like to play this Drop C# and in the style of the Staind acoustic cover of Sober

Keep it up!!
'sup Kurt!
Thanks Ryan, great lesson!
thanks adam!
Yor campfire renditions rock
cheers mate
1.5 minutes in and thats gonna be a insta sub for me brother
Absolutely awesome lesson! Do you think it would be worth tuning baby e to d? That way we could let it rip with complete abandon. It probably doesn’t matter; baby e probably wouldn’t bring much to the party, but it’s a thought.
I think you'll find that to be "too tasteful". I let that baby e sloppily ring out here and there, it's not a wrong note, and it adds a bit of unscientificity (whoa. apparently that's not not a word) to the mix
@@RyanLendtI have an unblemished record of staunchly playing sloppily, so that’s right down my alley!
Amazing as always. Thanks!!
thanks!
Awesome I love it!
I'm glad!
Thanks for the lesson man 😊 love the beard 😂😂😂😂😊😊😊😊
Thanks! 😃
@@RyanLendt your welcome
Oooo maybe add a lil finger style solo in there between chords. Likin this
Amazing!!!!
Thanks!!
Thanks for the AIC rooster I'm trying to work on that and sing now.
Thats awsome 😀
Homeboy went an bought a big ass wrench just for one joke! Hell ya
Ryan i have a request for you:""i remember you" by Skid Row
With the solo please! 🎸🎸
By the campfire tool edition. Nice. Not to bad of a song to play still tough to growl like he does though
Nice lessons! Thanks 🤘
Pretty cool Ryan. Me and my Cat thoroughly enjoyed watching your video.

@@RyanLendt Hahahaha!!! Thanks! You Rock!
Badazz!!! Thanks!!
Any time!
Great Lesson dude
I am impressed that you have a giant wrench! WTF! That wrench is a very inefficient way to take off a lug nut. I am glad you do Gee Tar videos and not engineering videos.

:)
Would love to see you do a cover video of this arrangement
❤ was great...
thank you
very cool. thx!
You bet!
Fantastic, now I want to start a fire?✌️🤪🎸🔥

I need a campfire version for the campfire version
Uhhhhh that hits the spot

thanks man!
Wow, that was surprisingly good pn an acoustic guitar

Yep.
:)
🤣😂 He said BJ Surhoff. He played for the Milwaukee Brewers back in the day lol.
and the orioles after that!
@@RyanLendt Nice dude 😂🤣. If I remember correctly he wore number 5 for the Brew Crew.
Perfect for a Girl Scout campfire! Pass the Thin Mints!!!
samosas all the way
Hell yeah, bro!
I love this song, but to the younger ones I would recommend not to play it at a campfire if you still want to have a chance to get laid. Or you can play it if you want to tell a girl you don´t like her, without telling her you don´t like her. Unless you found a girl who likes Tool, Kyuss etc. in this case marry her.
kara and I were doing research on the term campfire as it pertains to guitar, and it seems I have cornered the market. I owe you a huge debt of gratitude mr. fugazzi. Also that's hilarious.
What about ‘double drop D’ - dropping the high E as well…?
Let’s get a “spooky” by Atlanta Rhythm Section!
Can you dona tool series please? 🥺
I gotta go to one of this bros campfires lol
At the end when he says that's all the pieces, is it wrong of me to think "I know the pieces fit" lol
Tell me more about the g string. And more about the build up on the D.
you'll have to talk to my mom about those things. I'm not qualified.
It would be a lot easier to watch your channel if you played some of the song before starting the lesson, so we can get an idea of how it goes. I haven't watched your videos lately because of that, just sayin.
I thought the same
Sometimes I have to go see what the song is before I watch🤔🤔🤔🤔
Definitely, almost all of them do this. I always play the riff at least right before I teach how to play it
You've never heard the song before? Because if you're familiar with it, the lesson is pretty easy to follow.
He said the name of the song the first words he said.
@@statanhelier9685 I didn't say tell me the name of the song, I said "play" some of the song.
How can I play sober at the campfire when I'm never sober at the campfire? Conundrum downunder 😉
Sound like my kind of problem
@@laurajaneluvsbeauty9596 Tried dancing an Irish jig to the Pogues once camping. Ended up in the fire 😎
@@achebwahs1111 I’d have paid to see that lol! Hope you didn’t get burned tho
@@laurajaneluvsbeauty9596 haha no burns, but others had stiches. From laughing 😁
@@achebwahs1111 sounds fun lol
Great men
Hey buddy I’m looking for a campfire version of dear agony by Breaking Benjamin. Hope you can help me out. Thanks for all that you do on this channel!!! Looking forward to more content!!! 🤘🏻
oooooooo i haven't ventured into BB yet!
Just skimming through and going to play tomorrow.... Would it be beneficial to tune to double drop D? Doesn't seem the high E is used much and dropping it to D will add some more musicality. Just skimmed the video and I'm no expert on theory but does this make sense to anyone else?
Are you muting the high E the whole time? If so, could it be tuned to D and allowed to ring?
A entire guitar lesson on how to play a song without you once playing the song.
wait. Hold the bus. Did I just learn something here at the end?
yay!
Can you tell me what type of capo you use please? Thanks
thalia
Please cover H.
A long time ago I made vow to never play tool at the camp fire...... the vow has been broken. I will surely go to hell for this
my mom already knows. you're in big trouble.
AHAHAHHAHAHA. "Your probably going to play Everlong anyway...." HAHAHAHA
:)
Hey Ryan, I know this is a different genre, but could you please teach us the live version of sweeter by Leon bridges, nobody has covered it on TH-cam
If the DNA of both Bill Paxton and Wayne Static were to merge, it would make this crazy mf.
