You learn how, and it takes time to learn. As you ride in NYC you learn the best routes to take, instead of the most congested. It's about riding defensively
It takes a lot of patience, I’m a biker and see idiots walking through the bike lane like it’s nothing but also see other bikers going through sidewalks and stupid drivers but what can you really do about? Just watch every corner and predict movements from cars that’s all
It's traffic like this that makes me wonder why people still flock to that city. Every mode of transportation is very severely over crowded and over worked. There's simply too many people in on area. Eventially something has to give that will make large numbers of people say, to heck with this. I'm living/working in another city region or state. NYC is unresonably expensive or you have to commute to it for hours every day from a hundred miles out. Lots of large businesses have seen the writing on the wall and are closing up shop for less stressful, cheaper surroundings.
@@ActionKid Not as bad there as round my way. Didn't see groups of 20+ Chinese standing in the road. Hit one last year, he was taking a pic, so I went round his back, he turned around, didn't look, wack! There's an F-ing path, use it! A town of 80,000 and 7 million tourists!

That bike lane on the Brooklyn Bridge is wrong on so many leves! How could you even think of taking away pedestrian space and marking a bike lane there? I am a cyclist myself but I understand the bridge is a city icon for tourists. No way you can cycle there without having peds crossing your lane every second. Want to increase cycling as a mode of transport in the city? REDUCE CAR LANES AND GIVE THEM TO CYCLISTS but do not make it hard to walk around.
Most bicyclists take the Manhattan Bridge. Anyone taking the Brooklyn is a glutton for punishment. They should just shut it down and let the tourists use it. Comparing the number of pedestrians to cyclists it makes no sense at all to have a bike lane here.
0:54 Is it training day for new recruits? That's a lot of safety vests just standing around, and the moronic lady directing traffic didn't know what she was doing.
I've watched quite a few of your videos. I get stressed just watching them. I greatly appreciate your work in making these videos and I just wanted to say thanks and keep up the good work.
Dude, you’re obviously more than capable navigating those streets, it’s the other NY drivers that are ignorant and can’t drive. You basically put your life on the line every time you’re out there. Thanks man, good luck with your move. Best wishes to you.
Grid lock seems to be a huge issue! Cars getting stuck in the intersection each and every time. Super dangerous. Kudos to you for being such a courteous road user.
Common sense would say firstly pedestrians have right of way, everywhere (within reason), at traffic lights they should wait). But even so, dont hit pedestrians #1. Secondly bicycles. Lastly cars.
From the ridiculous ( NYC traffic ) to the sublime( Blue Danube Waltz) you cover a lot of territory, kid. Your rocking and rolling videos keep me spinning like a wheel in my easy chair!

Why ? You have to share the road with others even if they are smaller than you that should not make you a Di**.
Then they bitch and moan when cyclists ride on the sidewalk too. People are so damn stupid.

Why are there 20 govt officials on one corner all standing together??
They're probably new and training.

all of the above answers ha ha ha
Why people buy big cars and SUV's while driving in a central city like that i will never understand
svxnger pretty much fir Uber and Lyft
It's because their apartments are so tiny that their car becomes a way to say "Fuck you New York I can have all the space I want... in my Cadillac!"
probably because most of them live in the Burbs we do that in Chicago sometimes to
Because we can
Most people who drive in Manhattan are likely not residents of Manhattan. For them it is a temporary pass through. NYC spans 5 boroughs.
This is madness. Get out of there asap. Dont waste your life in this asylum.
Do people actually walk that slow when crossing? Anytime I have to cross anywhere I sprint.
I find many tourists walk slower.

it should be a double decker lane.. build a lane above the already existing lane for the pedestrians.

The problem wasn't the traffic agent waving cars through, the problem was that the people were walking right into the street on a DON'T WALK sign.

What congested intersection with the elevated rail line is that?
I know you probably get this question all the time but I can't find the answer. Where did you get your loud bike car horn?

When I ride my bicycle in NYC, I abide by the same principle as when I ride my motorcycle: I am invisible and no one can see me.
You choose to live in that zoo better take a chill pill or your going to have a heart attack!
Many people do have heart attacks.

The fact that 6:20 is the end of that is a travesty, I definitely wanted to see what was going down.
If a traffic agent waves a car through while people are crossing and a pedestrian gets hit, they'll get a big payout from suing the city.
