    Sometimes our orchid world seems empty of interested people. My daughter shares my interest but not the rest of the family or any friends. But we CAN show our shared passion in TH-cam vids. You keep sharing, we'll keep watching!

    Thank you William for sharing your little green pets with us, I honestly know the feeling of not being able to talk about my green fellows and their new roots with out people looking me like I'm crazy Lol. It's always nice to know that we are not alone and that we are part of an amazing community filled with amazing people like you. Cheers man!

    I completely understand the need to share your excitement and Orchids with someone. I think I drive my friends crazy when I get excited about something and I want to tell everyone about it. They always respond, but they don't truly understand the excitement and the passion that I have for orchids. Nice again thank you for sharing. My early Sunday mornings mean my first cup of coffee and a visit to the Green Room!!

      It's nice that friends and family will lend an ear. But they just don't share the enthusiasm and that's fine. Others do :)

    Yay ! She opened 😊I love the beautiful flower of your Amesiella monticola. She looks gorgeous ! Extraordinary cute little plant.
    Your Phals got some nice flowers as well and so many buds that haven't open yet !
    Thanks for the update on your slipper orchids which had quite bad looking serious rotting issues. Interesting to see that the plants healed without your intervention. I'm impressed to see the healthy new growths. Great that you took the risk to wait and see what happens.
    I was touched by your kind words thanking your viewers for watching.
    Thanks for the nice tour around your green pets.
    Have a nice Sunday ! See you next week ...

    Glad you are sharing your great orchid collection. I'm in the same situation as you: hard to find others who suffer from orchid fever😁
    The Amesiella monticola is superb. That flower looks like it's made of porcelain. Must be night scented?
    Thanks for showing Nitrogen burn. I think a couple of my phragmipediums have it. Though it looks a bit different in my plants.
    I keep forgetting to mention what a great setup you have. The live cam is great! Happy growing!!!!

    • @MyGreenPets
      @MyGreenPets  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm so glad you enjoy it. The fertilizer burn is so frustrating. Just sitting and waiting and hoping the plant doesn't die. Amesiella is slightly fragrant at night. Similar to Neofinetia falcata fragrance. Also reminds me of Four o'clocks.

She doesn't really see orchids different from another houseplant. Fortunately we live in this time and we are able to find people with the very same interests.

      My Green Pets I certainly enjoy your weekly Updates! my main problem is mealy bugs like my paphpedulum and last year I had a bad time with them.....lost many of my buds. Finally got the Bayer complete stuff and that helped but even though this year they have been many blooms and good growth last year those darn mealy bugs keep raising their ugly Selves! just found some more while watering today.....get the Bayer mixed Up! I've had some rot on my leaves and stems but when I have mealy bugs under control they do seem to recover well with fresh bark.....all of mine will be do for repotting very soon. keep up the videos.....you have a captive audience!

    • @MyGreenPets
      @MyGreenPets  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dave, I'd like to help you with the mealybugs. I have been taught that insecticides must be applied every week or two for at least three rounds to kill the pests at all stages of their life cycle. Pro growers I know actually change insecticides every couple of months to keep pests from adapting to the same one and becoming 'superbugs'.

    Hi William. Do you have local orchid societies where you are? I find that a great place to share your love and passion for orchids. I do love and appreciate watching your videos, and look forward to them when they pop up on my subscriptions page. Like you, I do not have anyone to really share my passion for plants and orchids with, so youtube is such a great platform for me to connect with amazing people like you, so thank YOU. The orchid community is a special family. In terms of the bulbo, did you say it was a species? My guesses: Echinolabium, Fascinator, lobii, Papulosum? I could be way off. LOL. Bulbos are definitely one of my favorite genus of orchids :)

    • @MyGreenPets
      @MyGreenPets  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The nearest orchid societies are 2 hours away with monthly meetings on weeknights, so I can't make them. The Bulbo still hasn't been guessed. Dezherae doane has had the closest guesses so far.
      "The orchid community is a special family." I like this :)

    I always enjoy watching your videos, beautiful orchid collection! I do wonder where you could possibly store that enormous Vanda for the winter? I'm thinking the bulbophyllum is something like lobbii or sumatranum.

    • @MyGreenPets
      @MyGreenPets  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Vanda is back in the sunroom like last year. Keep guessing :)

    Thanks for your voice! please continue the great work you're doing. I really like your A.motica, does it have fragrance? It was nice to see your paphs recovered from rot, good sign. Looking forward to see you phal Schlleriana in bloom. By the way where is your oncidium maculatum? has it got spike yet? I am going to order one of those since you were recommending it in your previous videos. Can you tell me what is it smell likt?

    • @MyGreenPets
      @MyGreenPets  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A. monticola has a light fragrance that reminds me of a Neofinetia falcata, four o'clocks, moonflower or other night-blooming flowers. Onc. maculatum has not spiked this year! Not sure if it is the conditions in the Green Room or the hail damage it received last May. It has a sweet and fruity scent, but not strong.

    Hi William I feel the same way about not having anybody to talk to about my orchid so that's why this orchid community is so great. I was wondering if you could give me the name of the yellow phal that's in bloom on your table right now. Thanks

    • @MyGreenPets

    Your amesiella monticola is so cute. I just bought one. It is paradise smelling. Mine are so thirsty, is this one needs more often watering??? Or using moss environment?

    • @MyGreenPets
      @MyGreenPets  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use sphagnum moss and water it every day, but the pot has holes in the sides to allow air to reach the roots.

    I have a very similar yellow Phal, but mine has got less stripes than yours. Do you have an ID for it? It is sad that the Mormodia didn't wait for the show, but that's just the way it is. Orchids are like cats sometimes, they just do whatever they want :) And for that sparkly Amesiella... I'm notorious for adding evething I see to my wishlist, so I'll pretend I didn't see it :D Thanks for sharing!
