Thank you for the kind comments, Zaki. I would say it’s likely to be in the same sort of range as light aircraft/microlights, but it would depend heavily on the mission.
Dear Prof. Sobester, congratulation for your videos and generally for your work. I would ask you a clarification on how to determine some of the parameters that you take for granted. For example Cd and Cl in takeoff configuration or the wingspan...if I want to start a design from the beginning, should I estimate this parameters from similar aircraft already existing? Thanks in advanced
Thank you for the kind words. If your aircraft is similar to legacy designs, the aero coefficient estimates of those might be a good starting point at the conceptual design level. If not, you could break down your geometry into primitives with known drag coefficients and use the drag buildup method to derive the figure for the full airframe. The next steps might be CFD or wind tunnel models of your design.
Dear Prof. Sobester, I just met some errors during my analyze. I tried to make a constraint analyze of a jet propulsion aircraft, and i set the designpropulsion parameter as "jet", but an error occurred which said:"Was not expecting negative "self.bpr" for "jet" propulsion system type!". Then i tried to change set the bypass ratio manually, but failed. So would you please help me with my analyze, thank you!!
I love this example and I plan to use adrpy in my design work. Does it have mission/performance analysis capabilities as well? If so, can you do a video on that
